Again, why not just buy the singles as they come out if you are a fan. More songs can get attention form the general public. If you can get 3 or 4 songs per year to sell a 3million copies, why not. With an album you've now wasted most of the songs on it. They are not going to get attention no matter how good they are. Because fans want more music. Would you rather want 3-4 songs per year from your favorite artist, or 10-15 every one-two years? And it's not like the songs are going to waste. The song from albums that aren't singles probably weren't single material anyway. But, just because a song isn't single material doesn't mean it isn't good. A song with the potential to be successful is not the same as a single that people like and vice versa. Case in point: pretty much everytime the fans get to pick singles from an album, they end up flopping. a la "Adore You"

I say why release albums at all if you are a singles artist? Well, despite low album sales, they do still shift some albums. (I myself have purchased a Flo Rida album actually because it was rather strong.) And they do still have a few hardcore fans (*ahem*, charismatic) that will buy their albums. No fan wants to be denied the pleasure of more music from their favorite artists. It may not be raking in a lot of money for the labels, but I'm sure it brings in some, especially when you add the rest of the revenue from the success of the singles, so I don't believe they're losing money by releasing albums. Plus, albums give the artist more music to perform on tour. (Which makes me wonder, how do the likes of DerΓΌlo, Flo Rida, and Pitbull do on tour?) Pitball mostly does co headlining tours and I believe they do well. I have no clue about Jason Derulo in the US but, I did notice his name on the Billboard Top tour dates last week. He must do well in different parts of the world. I forgot what the attendance was. Maybe around 6-7,000??? Does anyone know if Jason's cd's sell internationally??? The US isn't the only place to sell music. Lol.

So, if Pitbull has few hardcore fans like you say how his recent albums have certificated worldwide and have outsold Kesha's Warrior, Christina's Lotus and others albums by famous stars? If he has few fans how his likes on Facebook are massive? how he sells out shows like this and without co headlining? I think you need to check Pit, Jason, and Florida's Facebooks/Vevo and Twitter. These guys have million of fans, and for that reason their singles get popular. ;) The keep smashing because they have talent but they also have fans that buy their music.

I don't think outselling an album by a famous star that was deemed a massive flop is anything to call home about, especially if that album contains several established hits.

I have one question, charismatic- do you like any acts aside from Armando? If not, guuurrrurlllll, you're missing a heckuva lot out there. I gather "Fancy" will keep "Problem" at bay on the 6/14 chart.

But, die young went top 2 on the billboard and come on was top 10 on Pop. The truth is that Warrior's singles got more airplay than Global Warming's singles.Back in time and dstp were digital top 10, but radio didnt support them like DY and Come on, yet Global Warming with less airplay outsold Warrior. Here, Pit's fan base made the difference. When Pit gets top 10 hits he is capable of selling more albums too..The iconic Planet Pit proved that.Planet Pit is on its way to 3 million worldwide. It was over 2 million a year ago. Also, his debut album Miami was independent and only had one top 30 hit, yet Miami ended up selling 700,000 in the USA. Holiday: Yeah I like the music of Gwen Stefany, David Guetta, Wisin y Yandel, Daddy Yankee, David Archuleta, Bruno Mars and others.

Problem video is very hypnotic... Anyway, let's see if the video will be enough for Problem to get to #1 on the 6/21 chart (probably not the 6/14 one though because the video only gets less than 3 days of streaming for it. The thing about that is she should've released it Monday morning or Sunday night for maximum number of views so that it would have a better chance of getting #1).

Were talking about albums, not singles. You cant play both sides here... And considering Kesha and Xtina had some of the worst sales in recent pop memory, I wouldnt be bragging. 3 Million WW isnt a lot, but still not bad. Anyways, all Im saying for both sides is find factual evidence to prove your case, dont go throwing opinions around because at the end of the day it gets you nowhere.

Most times when fans feel the need to pick the singles, it's because the artist is already flopping a single or singles. You never hear much about singles selection until an artist starts flopping. 10-15 songs every few years is really only 3 or 4 songs per year TBQH and that's if they are good. If the songs are bad then you have a lot of dead weight on your hands. If a sound isn't working you can move away from it and recover quickly in a singles market. With an albums market you have to be more committed to a flop album that isn't working and most likely you won't be able to change the trajectory. Once a song is old it's old and its harder for it to get attention. If you hold onto it you get to remix it make it better and release it when it's ready. Putting out more than the markets want doesn't benefit the artist or the fans. The fans end up spending too much money on the stuff that doesn't matter and not enough on the stuff that does matter. Great records go unnoticed because the album had already run it's course or flopped entirely. For an artist this is bad. For a fan this is bad. I'd rather record companies try to make the singles market work. Releasing albums that can't scan 100k in a single week is not a good look. Your non fans will just freeload and by the time you do actually get to release the songs the fans have grown tired of them to the point they have diminishing returns as more singles get released once the album is out with the songs on it. To pirate a song you have to know it exists. Record companies have got to get into the habit of training people to check each week for new music and buy or stream it. There is far too much reliance on having a few artists carry all the other artists. Everyone doesn't need an album....especially in the digital age. Let the user put together the songs as they see fit. Albums don't really work in today's market. Fewer and fewer artists are able to sell them. That trend will continue. Having fans full support of singles makes them more loyal. Loyalty creates record sales. Selling each single for $1.29 is better than selling each song for a fraction of that price with an album. Also record labels now have a reoccurring first single status. Songs get released when they are ready not rushed so they can sit on an album in an inferior state. This means maximum exposure can go to the new song when they are spaced out properly. I'd like to see an artist release a single once every three months no matter what. Having fans in the know about the time frame for a new single really worked to the benefit of Ariana. BEYONCE was just lucky. I am of the belief BEYONCE would've still performed as well with simply announcing the release date for her album without a single before the album and she still would've sold what she sold and then releasing the first single with the album once it was clear what songs people liked. That pre-order a song for $1.29 that you haven't even heard it a no brainer for most people. Record companies need to focus on getting BIG singles sales within the first month and then quickly moving onto the next song. Stringing out the singles means people get sick of the songs and the artists faster. That is bad for business. Streaming services just don't cut the mustard yet in terms of profits despite its potential. Lets get people in the habit of spending money on records every monday even if it's just $1.29. Habits are hard to break. When/If Spotify and Beats hit their stride, users will be ready. Japan has artists selling a million copies in a week. The US record industry needs something like this to happen on a regular.

So another week at #1 for "All Of Me" on Radio Songs? omg that "Rude" song reminds me of 90s smash "Baby I Love Your Way" I love when pop-reggae hits the charts.
The "Problem" video is kind of... boring but Ariana looks cute and I like Iggy's 60s look.

Ariana looks hot! But the video is a little disappointing for me, but I don't care! I will watch it over and over!!!!! (Iggy did NOT look very flattering in that outfit! Shame too, she's freaking beautiful!)

This week would be Counting Stars' 50th week so CS already surpassed Apologize's 47 week run. CS better be on the All-Time Top 100 in 2018.

6. PARAMORE β Ainβt It Fun: 125.691 (+1.052) So close to the top 5! Hopefully "Dark Horse" and "Happy" will go back to -3mil updates again. I highly doubt they will. They've already had their share of massive negative updates. Hopefully DH will get larger negative updates than Happy so that Happy it won't be higher than Happy in the year-end chart. Don't worry though, AIF will surely get to #4. Legend, Timberlake, and Azalea won't let it into the top 3 but still #4 is by far the highest peak for the band (and IIRC their only top ten because Still Into You just missed it peaking at #11). RadioBeatz - yeah I love the pop-reggae style of Rude! It was popular here in Canada a few months ago but I'm starting to like it again now that it is rising in US charts! And I thought the video for Problem was weird yet interesting lol. surfy - I thought Iggy looked great in that outfit and I loved the hairstyle too! It makes her look really cute IMO and there aren't too many things that are more flattering to me than two cute early-mid 20s girls in a music video. (I know Miley is in her early 20s too, but I don't find her cute, however lol especially with the way she acts) Daniel Collins - it most certainly will! With its radio stability, it's pretty much guaranteed at least 60-65 weeks total on the Hot 100! Year-end top 10 is also a sure thing for it!

Off topic but didn't realise that Big Mountain have two additional Hot 100 hits too! They were one of my favs back in 1994, even if I really only knew their one hit but I wanted to know more. I got their tape for Christmas that year... though it was their first one that didn't have the hit(s). :(

If it's on Billboard Hot Rock Songs, then why in the actual f**k has Ain't It Fun not been added to Alternative or Triple A formats? It could easily be fuelled into the top 3 on radio songs that way (whilst Justin and/or John are falling) and back into the top 10 on the Hot 100 (probably would benefit its sales too at least slightly) probably to a new peak as well...I find it weird how Lorde's songs are considered alternative and put on the formats while AIF isn't...

He had a big hit with Informer, but does anyone know his other song "Everybody Wants to Be Like You". I love that song, such a feel-good tune.

Panel change or audience recalibration? :) Could be a boost from Memorial Day weekend? Holiday weekends tend to be lower and we see spike the following weekend.
