Right but that perception is based on stereotypes probably derived from the 'target audience' of a radio station. People can listen to all sorts of things and have personal favorites. I might listen to one format that might not fit a particular stereotype and be deemed 'atypical' and still like it. I also have my personal favorites that may fall in a completely different format. Again, nothing wrong with that. I'm just talking statistics here. Not saying anything is "wrong" or "uncanny".

Well honestly people are going to listen to the music that was popular during their time as a young adult, my brother is 42 and only listens to rock from the 80s and criticizes everything released today, but I mean it's not what he grew up with so I can't blame him.

"Problem" has about 10 million views from Spotify & VEVO alone, though it still lags behind in sales & airplay in comparison to "Fancy".

Look at all those worldwide views for "We Are One"- the USA doesn't care much, but that's not a shocker.

I saw "La La La" and thought it was Naughty Boy and was so confused.

Everyone has an opinion, not everybody has the same opinion. I was just confused by your use of the word "statistics". I might be thinking of that term differently than you are.

Not saying anything is "wrong" or "uncanny". but what statistics? like the one you made up about "1% of people over 30 liking 'Fancy'"? statistics are easily manipulated, misunderstood, and misused. I could ask 10 people over 30 what they think about "Fancy", then come back here to report that "100% of the people I surveyed over 30 hate 'Fancy'". stats only tell you what the people who were surveyed think, they shouldn't be used to make massive over-generalizations about every person in America (or on the planet) over 30, which is a very diverse group of millions upon millions of individuals.

New Maroon 5 in less than 2 weeks! www.hitsdailydouble.com/news/rumormill.cgiNEW MAROON UNFOLDS: "Maps," the lead single from Maroon 5's forthcoming album V, its first on Interscope (due on 9/2), will hit radio and iTunes on 6/16. The new album finds Adam Levine and mates working with producer/writers Max Martin, Ryan Tedder, Benny Blanco, Shellback and Sam Martin. Keyboardist Jesse Carmichael also returns to the fold after a hiatus that began in 2012. While the Grammy winners' prior album, Overexposed, was unquestionably a monster, with six Pop #1s, Levine has also solidified his mainstream stardom as a coach on NBC's The Voice. (6/3a)

^ so you're just saying I'm wrong and that there are many people over 30 that like Fancy? And on what grounds to you come to that conclusion? Mine is at least reasonable as I use the idea of target audience to back up my prediction.

Mine is at least reasonable as I use the idea of target audience to back up my prediction. my point is that neither of us could ever come close to surveying even half of the 30 year old's in the US, so neither of us can make any conclusive statements about what "most"/"the majority" of 30+ year old's like. it's better to refrain from making assumptions and generalizations. it's just as obnoxious as when people say things like: "well, you know how the gays love ________" "all dudes are fans of _________" "women can't get enough of _______" stats shouldn't be used to further stereotypes.

Mine is at least reasonable as I use the idea of target audience to back up my prediction. It is a perception nothing more. A statistic is based on actual numbers. Let's say a radio station targets 13-24 age group. This does not mean that is all that they get. Also numbers would be a little hard to determine, how many of that 13-24 listen to other stations too? How many parents are listening to it with their kids and enjoy it as well? How many parents grew up on top 40 radio and find they still like it? How many soccer mom's happen to turn the car radio on for that good ole' Mariah tune? How many of the 30+ age group listen to 'Fancy' and like it but it might not necessarily be their favorite? Don't know those answers myself, anything I say would not be based on statistics.

Surveys are almost NEVER anywhere near half of the population in question. The whole point of a survey is to take a small portion of the population and use those results to try to predict how the whole population thinks. Of course using only 10 people is not enough (unless the population is only like 20 people, in which case might as well ask the other 10 people), and you can't pick 10 specific people. You have to pick enough people (but nowhere near half) and it has to be done randomly or in a way to get as broad of a view as possible, to best represent the overall population.

"Borderline," the first in a long run of top 10 entries for the Queen. It remains one of her most-played songs in the recurrent life. Crazy to think that it was 30 years ago.

Iggy is slaying on streaming. Three songs in the U.S. top ten on Vevo? Who would've thought that would happen a year ago?

"Problem" has about 10 million views from Spotify & VEVO alone, though it still lags behind in sales & airplay in comparison to "Fancy". "Fancy" is also leading "Problem" in streaming.

The VEVO chart doesn't include Sunday, while Billboard's chart does, so we're not getting the true picture for "Problem"'s streams.

Then some people started to twist my words out of context.

You can assume anything you want. This does not make it factual though when you put a number on it and say it is based on statistics. Like I said in an earlier post, I think of different things than you do when I think of "statistics". When I think of statistics, I think of something like, "based on actual data, X% of everyone who bought "Fancy" last week was under age 30" You might be using the word "statistics" and really mean "perception"? That is where I might be getting confused ???

Top 10 prediction:
1. Fancy (~20% lead) 2. Problem 3. All of Me 4. Turn Down for What 5. Happy 6. Rude 7. Summer (thank God it'll enter this week for sure) 8. Am I Wrong 9. Dark Horse 10. Not a Bad Thing
11-14 will be Ain't It Fun, Talk Dirty, Sing, and Wiggle (not necessarily in that order though, and it's gonna be very close).
