#19 Son of Gun It’s one of these songs that you either love or hate. For me it’s easily my favorite song from AFY. They menaged to capture perfectly the mood and the darkness of the song in the video, which is for me in the TOP5 vids she ever made. Her image in the MV is my absolute favorite after Scream video and the TVR era look. She’s just such a fierce, unapologetic femme fatale in it. I have just one complain: I just wish he had more performences of it than just that from AFY tour. Janet can deny all the time but, it’s anything but a secret that that this entire t’s like album was deeply affected by her divorce. But as an album AFY never really grown on me in full…. It’s not cohesive, imo. It’s like Janet couldn’t make up her mind whether she wants a fun album, a baby-making one or she want’s to deal w/ her dissappoinment and anger w/ her marriage. Let me just tell you if more songs like You Ain’t Right, Trust A Try, or Son of A Gun where on that album it would’ve one of my favorites from her discography, but since it’s a mash-up of various songs AND for the very first time RANDOM interludes it’s not even in my TOP5 LPs from her…
#18 Love Will Never Do (With You) This is my 2nd favorite song off RR1814 (after Alright) and the fav Video from this era. I love this unexpected twist w/ her image, so different from anything else she did with R1814. It’s the 1st time when she let the sexy side of her reach its full potential and there she just kept this tradition going. It’s one of her signature love songs.
#18 And On and On (B side) OK, I’ll be honest. The only B-Side from Janet. Sessions I love/been obsessed with for years is… 70s Love Groove I paid dust to the others for no good reason, but I guess it was a smart move since my favorite girl in the game refuses to release an album for 6yrs already. I’m glad I still have songs that feels new to me. x) This one it’s just ideal for the lazy days in June/July… I can’t believe I was paying dust such jams like this one for years…… I was stupid. Stupider than stupid.
#17 Got Till It's Gone Probably one the best known Janet’s song overseas from the 1990s. My favorite video from TVR…
#16 Rhythm Nation Oh…. My… I feel like calling this a F****** FLAWLESS CLASSIC. Would be a disrespecful understatement. So I refuse to make a longer comment about it. Let me just add one day after 5TH sad anniversary… that RR the song and the album were Michael’s favorite releases from his baby sister. May he rest in peace.

14 So Excited Remix f/ Khia 2006, 20 Y.O.
YASSS, the saving grace from that era and JD, a song so hot I may be pussy patting as i write this and if I'm not then I'm sure Janhova is. A uptempo, sexy and utterly delicious gem from a album that wasn't exactly my cup of tea overall. Janet once again shows she can ride a beat and turn the girls out on the dance floor, come on you know you worked the clubs with this jam back in 2006-2008 time period.
The added feature of Khia solidified its place in my must go uptempo of that time, the video was just stunning, does Janet age? like a fine wine! Unlike most artists I just love Janet all sexed up because she does it well and can pull it of with ease, no effort, no trying, just earworm candy. Queen Khia though tried it years later with her bitterness over not being included in the video like she would have liked. Sorry its Janets, her vision goes.
This song should go in your "lets go for a drive" with the top down playlists, i urge you to give it a place on your "lets go clubbing" playlist its that good.
Still bitter it charted in the bottom of the hot 100 but the Japanese apparently know good music and it was #1 there and it did well in several european countries because they were less prone to hold a grudge or care about a woman exposing her breasts.
Janhova's Witness Queen KHIA takes this track to the next level with her iconic hook and b/w television appearance. I iz hongry
"For some girls it might be the money that really turns you on But for me it's an attitude that keeps me dialin' your phone And no words are suitable to describe your swagger babe And my body is in overdrive dying to have you inside of me
Do you like it when I do it I go head to toe And whenever you pursue it You'll never hear the word no So forget about them other girls baby Cause now you're rolling with a woman baby I'ma keep your body thumping baby It's the least I can do Cause you get me so excited"

Gawd, I loved Trust A Try. I haven't listened to it in too long but it was so epic. Should have been the third single. Son Of A Gun was great too. I liked the multiple remixes of it but liked the Missy one best. I didn't care for Carly Simon on it though. I know she did the original You're So Vain but she sounded so out of place on the song.

#13 All For You 2001, All For You
"All my girls at the party Look at that body Shakin' that thing Like I never did see Got a nice package alright Guess I'm gonna have to ride it tonight"
I got to start with the lyrics that i sang over and over while I owned the girls at the club, as I werq and twerq like only i can. Absolutely one of my favorite songs from 2001 and that love has endured over the years. A fun dance song that is a combination of wanting to dance and wanting to sit still so you can listen to the song in peace and quiet, its has a hook that is so infectious that i bet you will rewind a couple of times, minimum. I dunno while the lyrics suggest a very sexually graphic song, it came across as sweet and adorable, lol only Janet can say you got a nice package and give you that cutesy smile , adoring eyes and get away with it!
When i think of dance and pop, this is the kind of song that comes to mind instantly if I could describe what I liked, yes liked about pop music instead of most of the garbage that pop radio is serving up nowadays. The video is cute, colorful, bright and totally fun.
If I were to ask my sister what her favorite Janet song was , this would be it. However we wont be asking her, cause I kinda hate her, ya know? Instead the universal love this song has is evident in that it went on to become one of her biggest and most recognizable/signature songs and spent 7 weeks on top of the billboard hot 100 and various European locations.
God There's something special about "All for You" that I just can't put my finger on.
@drag27 I remember hearing this on the radio frequently when I was a kid. I always turned it up and jammed hard.
Linnethia Monique When this song was released I was over the moon. It's a euphoric pop song that needs to be emulated by others. Fun, uptempo, catchy, and when the intro hits you are already preparing yourself for something awesome. The breakdown with the various song samples is a fun little nugget for those that were raised on such songs.

#12 Where Are You Know 1993, Janet
"My love that was so true Still I sit here waiting all alone by the phone for you Now I understand, now I understand You said I love you, I sit and wonder"
They release the whole dang album and yet they didn't release this!!?? A stunning, gorgeous and dreamy ballad that has one of the most beautiful melody in her catalogue in my opinion, ofcourse. I really don't see people talk about this not even sure how other Janet fans feel about it, but it just touches me, it moves me and i feel it. The song is relatable but from the vocal to the production and melody I talked about, it just feels like you're floating on a cloud.
As much as I love it, as the years go by now kinda makes me feel a little sad as she wistfully talks about how when she is ready and understands herself and is finally in that space that one person she wishes would love her now, isn't there for her. You just want that person you love to love you back for who you are and just be there for you. Its a moving song we can all relate with.
"Where, where are you now? Now that I'm ready to Ready to love you the way you loved me then Where are you now? Do you still think of me? Or does your heart belong to someone else instead"

#11 Rock With U 2008, Discipline
Lawd how does she keep doing this to me over and over? So hypnotic and mesmerizing a song as i've ever heard. Janet murmurs like a hummingbird barely singing yet still captivating with her voice, soothing, divine. The beat is retro house and will have you stunned its one of the few songs that I love the production over everything else, usually I'm all about melody, vocals and vibe/mood. The beat is trance like and with her mentioned hummingbird murmurs its just a orgasm of sounds blended and crafted like fine wine.
The video is hella sexy too, its set in a futuristic club with a all these people crammed in this tight space just moving so elegantly with Janet conducting, the ever so slight dancing and trance like steps just makes this a earworm and visual that is a must watch.
Janet said she made this song for the gay community, in a interview she said Honestly the song was created for the gay community. I kept stressing to Jermaine [Dupri, the song's co-writer], ‘I got to do something for the kids.’ I had talked about it on the last album – and there was a song that I had, and it wasn’t quite completed. And I talked about it to the papers, gay magazines, and it didn't wind up on the album with the cut-off date. I felt really badly about that. So he just handed me a CD and said, ‘Here are 10 tracks for the kids; tell me which one you like the best.’ I fell in love with 'Rock With U'."
Whoever it was made for its a song that can be universally enjoyed and remains one of my favorites from the duo of Janet and Jermaine ( glad they are no longer working partners)

#14 So Excited – I never really into this song. It’s a good track but Janet deserved BETTER. #13 All For You – It’s her signature hit of the 2000s It’s such a feel-good song. With infectious hook. I have it on repeat all day long today. It’s just perfect for the summertime. #12 Where Are You Know - Def. A highlight on Janet. Her delicate vocals are everything in it. Should’ve been a single. #11 Rock With U: A hit that ran away. Love it since the first listen. EXCITED 4 THE TOP10! ____________ Guys! There’s a little update on Janet’s 11th Album. It’s def 2 early to start celebrating, but it just FEELS SO GOOD to see ROCKWILDER mentioned again knowing that he already created some magic in her discography back in the day.

Such a damn shame (yet again) that this was completely overlooked. It sounds just as good today, maybe even better, than it did then. "Ooh ooh ooh ooh - ooooh ooooh !!!"

I must say I always liked Discipline, but over the years, I truly understood why many people including many critics treated it as her COMEBACK album quality-wise at the time it was released. Although it came out only 1yr after the underwhelming 20 y.o. It’s been six years, but this album just doesn’t get old, imho which is an essential feature of her CLASSIC albums… I also noticed that I don’t even have to skip the fillers on it. They don’t bother me 2 much while playing this album. As I ofter do w/ AFY & 20y.o. and SOMETIMES w/ Damita Jo.
My Favorites: Rock With You, Feedback, What’s Ur Name, Can’t Be Good, 2nite, So Much Betta, Discipline, Let Me Know

There are some truly standout songs on Discipline - far more highs than on 20 Y.O. "Rock With U" is definitely among her best and deserves its accolades. It stands the test of time.
I also love "So Much Betta" - it's one of the more experimental songs in her catalogue, with the vocal effects and reverse lyrics (and uncredited Daft Punk sample).

Discipline is a decent/good album that had some standout tracks. I didn't care for any of the ballads, though. The only redeeming one for me is Can't Be Good. The rest are blah and I tend to skip right over them.
Feedback, Luv, Rollercoaster, Rock With U, 2 Nite all jam. So Much Betta and even What's Ur Name grooves. It just fades out too soon. I could even jam to The 1.

#10 Twenty Foreplay 1995, Design of a Decade 1986/1996 What always stood out for me in regards to this soulful ballad is the retro old school R&B feel that it has. Mix in the the video with its old Hollywood glamor and it was a instant smash with me. It's a soulful ballad that just flows out with ease and goes down like a bottle of whiskey, smooth. Tempo wise it might be considered mid but always heard it as a ballad. Its a throwback to all my favorites from the golden age of R&B and these types of jams will forever be my favorite as opposed to the s**t thats called R&B nowadays for the most part. The video is inspired by Dorothy Dandridge the first African American sex symbol in Hollywood and who better to do it justice than what I consider one of the few African American women was at that time considered beautiful in a universal sense, globally. They along with a few others opened up the doors for black women on TV, Music, Magazines and all forms of the hollywood machine.
"You walk in the room In a sunset sort of mood My emotions light up 'Cause of you Now that evening's come We're dress for us my love Wine and candles puts us in a sexy mood"
God "Twenty Foreplay" seems to be Janet's most underrated song, but I'm not sure why. It reads like His Word! @spiritanimal f**k god for not making me look, sound, have the bankroll as Janet Jackson, like f**k you.
