Is it me or is callout so much less flawed when it comes to the performance of female-led songs than it used to be? Maybe it’s just the surplus of stellar (and for the most part, radio-friendly) material that the ladies have been bringing us for the past year, but I sense some real change happening finally.

Was listening to American Country Countdown and they played Gabby Barrett "The Good Ones", Tenille Arts "Somebody Like That" and Maren Morris "The Bones" in a row.
In general looking at the radio chart it does show a lot of promise for women/female vocal songs this year, maybe not quite as much as last year but a lot of potential. Lady A just had a 2 week #1 with "Champagne Night", Kelsea Ballerini should soon hit #1 with "Hole In A Bottle", Gabby Barrett should also hit #1 with "The Good Ones", Tenille Arts should have a Top 10 finish with "Somebody Like That", singles by Miranda Lambert, Carly Pearce, and Priscilla Block look likely to hit the Top 20 at minimum and all could easily go #1 and singles from Lainey Wilson and Ingrid Andress are connecting very well despite low radio airplay ala early chart run "Die From A Broken Heart" last year.
Also I would expect sometime this year lead singles from Maren Morris and Carrie Underwood which should probably make Top 20 at minimum.

Random, but for my Popular Culture in Music class I took in the fall semester I wrote my paper on sexism in country music. I was very much inspired/influenced by the one researcher on this forum who was analyzing the topic before their untimely passing. It made me so depressed reading the literature and the looking at the stats at how few women make it to the top 20/10/5 and #1 slots over the years compared to men, and more so how little NEW women artists break through each year compared to new male artists.

While I won't say this year has had as many successful female songs as last year, 2021 so far for women in country music has been solid. With Kelsea Ballerini, Gabby Barrett, and Tenille Arts all having Top 5 singles same with Lady A with "Champagne Night" which was predominantly female voice lead. Not to mention current singles from Miranda Lambert, Carly Pearce, Lainey Wilson, Kelsea Ballerini, and Callista Clark look to be future #1s or at minimum Top 10s this year and I still think current singles from Priscilla Block and Ingrid Andress can at least peak in the Top 20 if not higher.
