I think Country radio will still play this the first couple of weeks regardless unless they're doing a dual release. Maybe they'll have pop/country mixes similar to WEANEGBT.

Is there reason to think that Taylor could be pulling a Beyoncé tomorrow?
Someone I follow on twitter who is pretty much a hipster but also likes Taylor and the tv series Nashville tweeted that not enough people are considering the possibility. But I don't know why she'd even think so.

For Taylor Swift, the combination of radio play plus the promotional BUILD to the album is what turns it into an event. And, as others have said, she also sells well with older folks, parents and young kids who are motivated to buy based on a traditional, physical release. |

Her last album was full of flops and even with that she was able to sell more or less the same that an album full of hits like Teenage dream (at least for a good while). The problem with Beyonce's last album is that the album is pretty bad, and without a song that carry the weight i think it sold quite a lot (the fact that the lead single was so bad didn't help either). I know Taylor is in the media a lot, but i don't think she had that kind of celebrity status (and i don't think she wanted it either). Beyonce is all about business, being related or not to the music. Apart from a good bunch of fake relationships, Taylor is quite private. She has nothing to win releasing by surprise and she is very good to create buzz around her releases |
