Man, the beat from Perfume actually knocks. One of my favorite songs off Britney Jean by far. Sucks it didn't perform better.

If Perfume had a bridge it would be a perfect song. Love it a lot, wish the video was better tho and she should have performed it live once.

Extremely unlikely given the anxiety she feels when performing live on National television

"Next year’s Super Bowl will be the 50th, so it’s only fitting that the halftime performer is someone HUGE — and who is more fitting than Britney Spears?"
True tea right there!

People realize that the article cites the National Enquirer right?
If her team were to do this, it would basically confirm that they are a bunch of money-sucking leeches. I get that some fans are excited at just the prospect of seeing Britney doing a public performance since we haven't had one in about 4 years but this would not help her at all on either a personal or professional level.

How would this not help her professionally? And do you know her personally? I don't, but by all public accounts she is in a great mental state right now and performing an intense show in Vegas regularly. I know that people like to think that she developed this huge performing anxiety, but who knows if it's that simple. If she wants to do it, she should. And I don't think she would even think about it if she didn't want to do it.

The Britney Spears Superbowl Halftime show is a pop culture unicorn. I don't think we'll ever see one.
But, you know? I think I'm for her doing it, actually. Live performances are not her cup of tea. We haven't seen anything in almost 8 years to support that they are. Vegas doesn't, because those performances are still in a pretty intimate setting-- but all that in mind, the exposure and hype can't hurt her. The only standard she'll be held to is her own. Look at recent halftime shows from Beyoncé and Madonna: they left a lot to be desired, yet the performances still benefitted them in the long run. If anything, Britney's would cement her status as a legend (not that she really even needs to at this point, but it doesn't hurt to remind people). Expectations would have to be kept in line, but with proper rehearsal and dedication, Britney could pull this off. It would be a great thing for her career right now. The only "issue" is whether or not Britney would even agree to do it, which is why I don't think we'll ever see one.
For that reason though-- Britney being the one to have to agree to do it-- I have full confidence in a performance, because Britney's team wouldn't sign off on it without her approval. If this ever happens, she'll have agreed to do it herself.

How would this not help her professionally? B/c it would do very little to raise her profile or status. If she just does okay and manages to make it through w/o any major problems, then people will move on and it would just be another Superbowl performance. If she messes up, then it hurts her reputation as a performer. Yeah, she gets a lot of exposure but unless she blows everyone out of the water, there's very little point. It's a lot of risk for potentially very little pay-off. I don't need to have Britney's medical records in my hand to know that this is a person who couldn't care less about whether or not she gets to perform at the Superbowl. This is a women who's evaded doing a public performance for about 4 years. This is a woman who has stated that an album is not a priority right now b/c of her kids. This does not sound like a woman who cares that much about whether she gets to headline the halftime show. Obviously most of us don't know Britney on a personal level, but it's certainly not an outlandish to suggest (given her actions and statements she's made over the years) that this will do very little for her in terms of personal fulfillment.

I'm not interested. The general public/media will rip her to shreds unless she absoluty nails it, which I don't have confidence that she will.

If this ever happens, she'll have agreed to do it herself. I completely agree. Also, at her worst, she's going to outperform the past few. I don't see the media being as harsh as some would imagine, unless it ends up like VMA 07 again, which if she actually wants to do this, it won't.

If it's a Circus tour-like spectacle with her body being 100% on point, people will be very pleased and media coverage will be very positive. All we really need is a beautiful, abs-showing Britney with big production value and some energy on her end and it'll be a success.

One thing that would be to her advantage is the level of production value involved in these performances. Look at Katy's: lip-synced, minimal choreography, but weren't the sharks fun? All Britney has to do is lift one of her sets from Piece of Me and translate it to a stadium venue. Boom, you've got a halftime show with most conceivable f**k ups accounted for and covered. Strobe lights to the rescue.
I just find it odd that some fans don't want her to. If this were the Femme Fatale era, I'd agree, but now?

I don't think it'll happen, but I also think it'd be a terrible idea. Britney has pieced back together some respect on the success of her Vegas tour, but it's a very thin level of respect she'd surely shatter when put on such a platform. She would get shredded for lip syncing--she just would, merited or not, unsurprising or not. And she just isn't a good enough performer anymore, so that would also get blasted. She's in this weird place where people get that she's past her prime, but would still have far greater expectations for her than someone like Katy Perry, and the result just would never meet those outdated expectations.
Wait...maybe she could pull it off if she went full-on nostalgia. Somehow. Not quite sure of the execution, but I think there's a worthy angle there. But still, that seems better befitting of a Grammy performance, not the Superbowl. So no, I stand with my original stance: terrible idea, and one that will never materialize anyway. Keep slaying Vegas.

I say yes! I'm all for giving chances and Britney is more than deserving. If and when, instead of wearing heels, give her some skechers so we can sit back and watch her execute primeney all over again! It's a win-win situation!

Diamond suit Toxic, stripper pole Gimme More...Slayed!!! I mean, yes, but I was thinking more in various performance aesthetics to have full throwbacks to 99--big cell phones, fashion/set design from that time, maybe a quick spin through a radio station with big hits of that time before launching into her own, etc. While those looks are iconic, I don't know that the Superbowl-viewing audience would be like "OMG the diamond suit from "Toxic"!!!!! SHE. DID. NOT." I think there's a cute nostalgic angle she could pull for a big-time performance, but again, I think she's past the point of handling a stage that huge and having the end result be one that is successful and adds to her legacy.

I'd love her to do the Superbowl, but only if she is directly on point.
