Would Blank Space jumping to #1 be the biggest non-digital release fueled jump to #1 since Someone Like You in 2011? I just checked and Wrecking Ball jumped 22-1 the week after its video was released.

Is "Blank Space" really generating THAT many views on You Tube it is has a legitimate shot at #1? 18,055,750 views in a little over two days on YouTube. Add in the sales boost and continued growth in airplay and it is a definite contender for #1 next week. I wouldn't call it a lock yet, but it has a chance.

Usually hate when viral videos push songs to No. 1 on the Hot 100, but very happy in this case!! Also glad that "Love Me Harder" hit the top 10!!

With those numbers, AATB definitely back to #1. I'm so happy I was (probably) right about the I'm Real/Fallin'-style AATB/SIO trade-off at #1 -- each with 2 runs at the top. And I'm completely wrong, ha!

12 straight weeks of the same top 2. Are we close to a record yet on that? I know "One Sweet Day" and "Exhale (Shoop Shoop)" nailed down the top 2 spots for 11 consecutive weeks, can't remember if any other two songs went longer. Hopefully we'll get some shake up next week!

I hope Blank Space jumps to #1 just so Taylor can replace herself at the top.

Chart Watch: Grande Has The Last Laugh By Paul Grein 49 minutes ago Chart Watch
Ariana Grande this week becomes the first artist in 2014 to amass four top 10 hits on Billboard's Hot 100. That's sweet consolation for Grande, who was, surprisingly, shut out in the American Music Awards nominations. (Grande is scheduled to perform on the Nov. 23 show anyway.)
"Love Me Harder," Grande’s collabo with The Weeknd, jumps from #24 to #7 in its fifth week. “Bang Bang,” her collabo with Jessie J and Nicki Minaj, holds at #5 in its 15th week. It peaked at #3. Earlier this year, Grande reached the top 10 with “Problem” (featuring Iggy Azalea) and “Break Free” (featuring Zedd).
Billboard's Gary Trust points out that Grande is the first artist to amass four top 10 hits in a calendar year, all as a lead or co-lead artist, since 2012, when Adele, Flo Rida and Taylor Swift achieved the feat.
Taylor Swift has two songs in this week’s top 15. “Shake It Off” logs its fourth week at #1 (and its 12th consecutive week in the top two). “Blank Space” jumps from #18 to #13 in its second week. “Shake It Off” surpasses “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” as Swift’s longest-running #1 hit. That smash spent three weeks on top in 2012.
Meghan Trainor's former #1 “All About That Bass” holds at #2 for the second week. Trainor performed the song on last week's Country Music Assn. Awards, where she was joined by Miranda Lambert. Trainor’s follow-up, “Lips Are Movin,” jumps from #70 to #50 in its third week.
"All About That Bass" returns to #1 on Top Digital Songs, with sales of 190K. This is its eighth week on top of that chart. That’s the longest run at #1 for a song by a female artist since Carly Rae Jepsen's”Call Me Maybe” had eight weeks on top in late spring and early summer 2012.
Trainor is the only female artist to spend eight weeks at #1 on the digital chart in 2014. Iggy Azalea has spent seven weeks on top (combining “Fancy” and Ariana Grande's “Problem,” on which she was featured). Taylor Swift has spent six weeks on top (combining “Shake It Off,” “Out Of The Woods” and “Blank Space”).
Here’s a sour note: This is the fifth consecutive week that the #1 digital seller has sold fewer than 200K copies during the week. That’s the longest stretch in which no song has sold 200K copies in a week since the fall of 2009, when there was also a five-week streak in which no songs reached the threshold. (The #1’s in those slow weeks: Britney Spears's “3” and Owl City's “Fireflies.”)
Maroon 5's “Animals” jumps from #4 to #3 in its 12th week. This ends an 11-week streak in which female solo artists locked up the top three spots.
Tove Lo's “Habits (Stay High)” dips from #3 to #4 in its 24th week. The song jumps to #1 on Radio Songs, ending a four-week run by “Shake It Off.”
As noted above, “Bang Bang” by Jessie J, Ariana Grande & Nicki Minaj holds at #5 for the second week in its 15th week. The song tops the 2 million mark in digital sales this week. Grande performed the song on the CMA Awards show, joined by Little Big Town.
Bobby Shmurda's Hot Boy” jumps from #8 to #6 in its 15th week. The song jumps to #1 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, displacing “Black Widow” by Iggy Azalea featuring Rita Ora.
Hozier's “Take Me To Church” jumps from #10 to #8 in its 13th week. It's #1 on Rock Songs for the fourth week … The aforementioned “Black Widow” by Iggy Azalea featuring Rita Ora drops from #6 to #9 in its 19th week. The song peaked at #3 … “Don’t Tell Em” by Jeremih featuring YG drops from #7 to #9 in its 20th week. The song peaked at #6.
Ed Sheeran's “Don't” drops out of the top 10 for the second time.
Look for a lofty debut from Selena Gomez's “The Heart Wants What It Wants.” It's vying to become her second top 10 hit. “Come & Get It” reached #6. Woody Allen used that exact phrase, “The heart wants what it wants,” in an interview with TIME's Walter Isaacson in August 1992 to defend his relationship with Soon-Yi, the adopted daughter of his then-wife, Mia Farrow. Gomez probably doesn’t know the phrase’s history: She was five weeks old when that quote first appeared.
Lady Antebellum's “Bartender” tops the 1 million mark in digital sales this week. The trio performed it on the CMA show. The song reached #31 on the Hot 100 and #4 on Hot Country Songs.
Cheryl lands her fifth #1 on The U.K.’s Official Singles Chart with “I Don’t Care.” This makes her the British female artist with the most #1 singles in U.K. chart history. Geri Halliwell and Rita Ora are in second place with four each. This is Cheryl’s second #1 of 2014, following “Crazy Stupid Love” (featuring Tinie Tempah).

Classic Billboard 'record breaking' trivia. "Billboard's Gary Trust points out that Grande is the FIRST artist ... since 2012." How about mentioning the fact that what remarkable about Grande is that 0 out of 4 are solo (unlike two of the three who did it in 2012). That has to be the most bizarre thing about AG, the three songs from ME all could've done well as solo singles. Anyway, thanks Billboard, I need a laugh

Chart Watch: Selena Channels Woody Allen?Selena Gomez's “The Heart Wants What It Wants” is the week's top new entry on the Hot 100 at #25. It's vying to become her second top 10 hit. “Come & Get It” reached #6 in 2013. The song will appear on her compilation For You, which is due Nov. 24. Woody Allen used that exact phrase, “The heart wants what it wants,” in an interview with TIME's Walter Isaacson in August 1992 to defend his relationship with Soon-Yi, the adopted daughter of his then-companion, Mia Farrow. Gomez probably doesn’t know the phrase’s history: She was five weeks old when that quote first appeared. This week’s big news on the Hot 100 is Ariana Grande landing her fourth top 10 hit of 2014. That was the lead of a Chart Watch blog which we posted Wednesday. If you missed it, here’s a link. This blog will deal with key debuts and moves below the top 10. Sam Smith's “I'm Not The Only One” jumps from #12 to #11 in its 10th week … Taylor Swift is probably just one week away from her 16th top 10 hit: “Blank Space” jumps from #18 to #13 in its second week … “I Don’t F**k With You” by Big Sean featuring E-40 jumps from #26 to #15 in its seventh week … Rae Sremmurd's “No Type” jumps from #25 to #21 in its seventh week. Nick Jonas’ “Jealous” jumps from #28 to #23 in its ninth week. The song is a textbook example of how a faded teen star can reposition himself to compete in the mainstream pop market. Jonas’s album, Nick Jonas, is on track to enter next week’s Billboard 200 around #7 (30K). Carrie Underwood's “Something In The Water” rebounds from #55 to #28 in its sixth week. It has already climbed as high as #24. Underwood performed the song on last week's CMA Awards. The video premiered the same night. The song also jumps to #1 on Hot Country Songs this week. It's her 14th #1 on that chart; her second of 2014. She topped the chart in July with “Something Bad,” a duet with Miranda Lambert. Underwood just missed #1 in 2012 when “Blown Away” logged three weeks at #2 behind Taylor Swift's “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together,” which was primarily a pop record. “Something In The Water” might have experienced a similar fate, but Swift's current hits “Shake It Off” and “Blank Space” aren't listed on the country chart. Little Big Town lands its second top 40 hit as “Day Drinking” jumps from #61 to #40 in its 16th week. “Pontoon” reached #22 in 2012. Little Big Town won Vocal Group of the Year for the third year in a row at the CMA Awards … “Only” by Nicki Minaj featuring Drake, Lil Wayne and Chris Brown jumps from #54 to #43 in its second week. Meghan Trainor has two songs on the move on this week’s chart. “Lips Are Movin” jumps from #70 to #50 in its third week. “Dear Future Husband” re-enters the chart at #96. The latter song has already climbed as high as #93. DeJ Loaf's “Try Me” jumps from #64 to #53 in its third week … Brad Paisley's “Perfect Storm” jumps from #77 to #65 in its fifth week … Ed Sheeran's “Thinking Out Loud” leaps from #84 to #68 in its fifth week. It's vying to become his second top 10 hit in a row, following “Don't” … Eric Church's “Talladega” jumps from #88 to #69 in its third week … August Alsina's “No Love” jumps from #86 to #71 in its eighth week. One Direction's “Ready To Run” is the week's second-highest new entry at #77. It's from the group's fourth studio album, FOUR, which is due on Nov. 17. Dixie Chicks had a top 40 hit with the same title in 1999 … Florida Georgia Line's “Sun Daze” jumps from #95 to #78 in its third week. Florida Georgia Line won Vocal Duo of the Year for the second year in a row at the CMA Awards… “Dangerous” by David Guetta featuring Sam Martin jumps from #94 to #79 in its third week … RaeLynn's “God Made Girls” jumps from #97 to #85 in its third week. Raelynn is a country music artist … The Weeknd's “Often” jumps from #99 to #86 in its fourth week. The Weeknd is currently in the top 10 with “Love Me Harder,” its collabo with Ariana Grande … Kenny Chesney's “Til It's Gone” jumps from #100 to #90 in its second week. Shawn Mendes's “Something Big” is the week's third-highest new entry at #92. It's his second Hot 100 hit. “Life Of The Party” reached #24 earlier this year. Mendes, 16, is from Canada … “Made Me” by Snootie Wild featuring K Camp re-enters the chart at #93 … Bobby Shmurda's “Bobby Bitch” re-enters the chart at #94. Shmurda's “Hot Boy” jumps to #6 this week. (The Hot 100 will list the word “Bitch,” but not the N-word, which is is in the title of the original version of “Hot Boy.”) Brett Eldredge's “Mean To Me” debuts at #95. It's the third Hot 100 single from his debut album, Bring You Back. Eldredge won Best New Artist of the Year at the CMA Awards … Darius Rucker's “Homegrown Honey” debuts at #97. It's from his next studio album … Walk The Moon's “Shut Up + Dance” debuts at #98. It's from the indie rock band's third album, Talking Is Hard … “Outside” by Calvin Harris featuring Ellie Goulding re-enters the chart at #99. It debuted at #68 two weeks ago … “Booty” by Jennifer Lopez featuring Iggy Azalea or Pitbull re-enters the chart at #100. It has climbed as high as #18. music.yahoo.com/blogs/chart-watch/chart-watch-selena-channels-woody-allen-012107417.html

I don't know - Ariana's 4 top 10s in a year is interesting from the standpoint that they were four separate singles that hit top ten in their normal chart run within a calendar year. With Adele, Rolling in the Deep and Someone Like You had run their course by February 2012, but jumped back into the top 10 because of the Grammies. And two of Taylor's were promotional singles, I think - so they hit the top 10, but then quickly fell out.
Not that I'm discounting their accomplishments, just that Ariana had four singles hit the top 10 in a more traditional way.

We now commence negative news for the week.
RECURRENT Latch No Mediocre American Kids Hope You Get Lonely Tonight
GONE Thriller I Won't Let You Down G.D.F.R.
Every Taylor Swift song save for "Shake it Off" and "Blank Space" are gone
HITS WITH -5 OR MORE POSITIONS Stay With Me (11-16) Chandelier (13-19) Cool Kids (17-24) Tuesday (20-26) Rude (21-27) Am I Wrong (31-36) Leave the Night On (30-38) Maps (32-39) Fireball (23-56)
New Flame just can not get past #27; it backtracks 27-29 this week.
Last week's coup against summer hits continues, as a number of said songs are tumbling at least 5 positions. However, against the tide, All of Me recovers 39-34 without a bullet.
Leave the Night On suffers album effect, but not nearly as bad as I predicted (30-38), which is still in hit territory.
Neon Light continues its streak of bulleting not enough to gain, it stumbles 46-47.
About the Money is ending its gains earlier than No Mediocre; it already falls out of the top 50 47-55.
Fireball plummets 23-56. I had a feeling something was suspect last week since it had a big streaming debut but tumbling sales...
I Bet My Life falls 53-89.
Secrets has ended its gains; it takes a second plummet 78-91.

And as I said, her three singles all could've been hits without the features, but there are not because the label still doesn't have confidence in her name only to sell records, which I don't understand at all - she has the name recognition and the voice. Hopefully that will change. FTR- I actually like all four songs a great deal, so it's not anything against AG, more about Billboard stretching to find 'records' every week.

(That was how it appeared to me) but Billboard seriously reaches to find SOMETHING to write about each week... and most weeks it seems really stupid to include them, but I agree with them this week as it's impressive to do with or without features in my opinion.

Billboard's milestone stretches are pretty ridiculous, but it must be hard to write that article every week when the charts are as stagnant as they've been this year. Turnover has been glacial in the top ten.

If anything Taylor's achievement should be viewed as suspect since it was done with instant grat promo singles. 1989 was the first Taylor album that had a pre-order and instant grat tracks, and as we know neither charted in the top 10. All of her previous promo singles were released as individual singles, they landed in the top 10 on their own merit.

I liked the 80's aerobics video for Shake It Off, but if her label had it removed I don't see why it should count for them. Why should they get an advantage in the charts for a video they obviously disapproved of. Very shady that Shake it Off got to number 1 again based on a video they think violated their copyright.
