I really think Kelly's big downfall right now is image. No, I don't mean looks, I think we can see from the scene that isn't critical. Kelly is too nice and doesn't come across as cerebral in interviews. If you aren't a deep thinking agenda filled artist you need to be bad right now. Katy Perry, church girl gone bad, etc.
I don't want Kelly to change her image. She needs to just keep being herself. I'm just sad that it plays a *negative* role today. Her music has to be so far above standard to hit now, the scene is tough for her.
I'm really mad the label got it so wrong with My December. That really took a huge tool out of her musical arsenal not being able to throw some rock edge in.
Shame.

This just passed a Guetta track and jumped up a spot to #4 on UK iTunes with an instagrat track ahead of it. I think it clearly shows the reason why it's struggling in the US, both on radio and iTunes. PROMO. I guess the potential public interest in this track is definitely out there but unfortunately, no one knows about it yet and it seems like her team doesn't even care about it anymore. Well, I believe in the mighty Team KC and I'm sure they are planning on something but it's just so frustrating, at least for now. There was literally no attempt to build a hype around this track and they made everything about it uneventful so far. It would have performed much better by now if she was actively promoted it. This song is too good to be ignored and should be blowing up like now... At least I think so.

I'm just shaking my head at this seemingly struggling whilst a song not that far above it is doing just fine despite listeners apparently not being nearly as into it (looking at you, She Knows!)...but that's just me. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I think this is just too generic of a song and she's been gone too long and on top of all that the promo isn't there for this era. The HAC performance is what's truly troubling though. This should be very at home there and that format tends to be very loyal to their big artists like Kelly. That makes me deeply concerned for this era and her future career that even that format doesn't seem to have much interest in her anymore. She needs an unequivocal smash to be on this album and then promote the hell out of it. I'm just really nervous for her future success. At her age a flop era will be a very hard thing to recover from in the pop industry. And Kelly is a pop star when all is said and done. Unless she goes Country after this, which I could honestly see happening if this era fizzles.

That's a hard reality to face, but it's true.
There is another side to that aweful reality. I know alot people, including myself, who hate Katy Perry ever since she came out in the grammys burned at the steak. Bad Image indeed. More ike desperate, but anyway, you can see that "bad" image thing is a two sided sword. Another one of my favs who gets a lot of slack for being a decent and vocally talented artist, is Demi Lovato.
If you ask me, that "bad ass" image is a veil for lack of talent. Sooner or later they grow out of it, but at what price?

I think "Heartbeat" is just as good as any Kelly Clarkson song. It's the audience who isn't as good.

Early Tuesday update in the UK and "Heartbeat Song" is currently at #2 there. Let's see how much she handles after the BRITs effect, although a Top 10 may be on a lock so far.

I'm not surprised...I think the song is ok, but it's not screaming to go top 10. The guitar sound is generic and that's really the only part that kills it for me, personally. I probably would have released it later on, UNLESS this is the only song that sounds remotely like a first single.
