@jakelmmrs44 Juan Carlos yuh yuh Mikey josh Kurt Daryl the Beryl Rocky ♛ The Manticore ☯ @drag27 Zeebz surfy Rose WinturMike's Top 40 For the Week Ending: December 19, 2015 DROPPERS:Breathe Carolina & APEK - Anywhere But Home (from 40) Embody featuring A*M*E - Give Me Your Love (from 32) Troye Sivan spends a third week on top with "Wild". JoJo does leapfrog Duke Dumont, and now ties "Leave (Get Out)" for her highest peak on my chart, setting up a showdown between her and Troye for #1 next week to close out the year. But they may both have to watch out, because HERE COMES ADELE! She ties the biggest jump of the week, up five notches, and lands at #4. Snatching the #1 from the both of them wouldn't be entirely out of the question. And behind HER, is another future threat in the form of St. Lucia. He leaps into the Top 10, climbing 11-7, in his 7th week in the survey. Given that he flew past "Magnets" to do it, he may be in for a long stay when he gets to #1. When - not if. Also peaking along with Duke Dumont this week is CHVRCHES, who lose their bullet at #8. With a new song coming in as a New Pick of the Week, however, it may just as well be time to move on anyway. Duke Dumont, incidentally, has a new one as well. We have a mini-Country pile-up in the middle of the chart this week, with this week's 3 Country songs at #s 18-20. "By the Way" is the other song to jump five this week...and by the way, guess what's shaping up to be a big hit early next year? "Rocket", however, may be in trouble soon, with Josh Dorr having a new song also landing as a New Pick, and Ashley Gearing jumping over him this week. I'm not quite sure what to do with "Focus", as yet. Yes, the song is rapidly vanishing from Pop's radar, but...IDK. I'm not really over it just yet. (Plus, I can think of a certain someone [Carly!!] who might have a word about lack of Pop smashing being seen as an obstacle... ) "Automatic" is indeed done, as it loses its bullet and drops to #34. And Collective Soul grab a second chart single, as "AYTA" comes in at #40. Their previous, was 10 years ago (has it been so long already...?), as they took "Better Now" to #3 with one of the year's biggest hits. Speaking of which...IT BEGINS NEXT WEEK, Y'ALL! Don't miss it! NEW PICKS OF THE WEEK:Duke Dumont - MeltJosh Dorr - Down Goes the CowboyCHVRCHES - Empty ThreatBohnes - Middle FingerSia - Cheap ThrillsUntil next week... -Mike

It's the last weekly chart of the year! Who will be riding off into the sunset wearing the #1 crown? Will it be Troye Sivan for a 4th straight week? Will JoJo finally get to wear the crown for her first time? Or will Adele snatch it from both of them? Only one way to find out... @jakelmmrs44 Juan Carlos yuh yuh Mikey josh Kurt Daryl the Beryl Rocky ♛ The Manticore ☯ @drag27 Zeebz surfy Rose WinturMike's Top 40 For the Week Ending: December 26, 2015 DROPPER:Zhu & AlunaGeorge - Automatic (from 34) Well, 2015 will draw to a close on a familiar note, as JoJo becomes the latest artist to have charted previously but not quite make it to #1, then return this year and this time go all the way. With Adele nipping at her heels at #2, it may be a brief stay, but it is a stay at #1 nonetheless. Madonna becomes the only act to nab three Top 5 hits this year, as "Rebel Heart" inches up one more notch to #5. And it looks to come just in time, for she may not be able to take it much higher, if any higher at all. Meanwhile, Years & Years become the only act to nab four Top 10 hits this year, as they take "Eyes Shut" to the very familiar position of #10. Unlike their last two trips there, however, "Eyes Shut" looks as though it will keep going forward for them. The 20s are a difficult place to be this week, as they are a solid wall of bullets, though two songs hold in place there and a third is pushed backward. ...and that'll do it for this week's chart talk. NEW PICKS OF THE WEEK:Austin Mahone - Hate to Let You GoSelena Gomez - Hands to MyselfMartin Garrix - Poison(NOTE: Expect this section to be suspended next week. ) One final reminder: Mike's Top 100 songs of 2015 countdown kicks off tomorrow, and runs throughout the week! See this thread for some more early details. Until then... -Mike

Well, I've just finished closing the books on 2015. What's left to do now? Why, ring in 2016, of course! And when we last left 2015, we had JoJo at the #1 spot for her first time with "Save My Soul". But right behind her at #2 was Adele, charging fast with "Hello". Does JoJo hold onto that #1 spot? Does Adele kick off 2016 as the chart queen? Or does someone else push past them both? Only one way to find out... @jakelmmrs44 Juan Carlos yuh yuh josh Kurt Daryl the Beryl ♛ The Manticore ☯ @drag27 Zeebz surfy Rose Wintur Albie ry4n Au$tin ★Disco★ sadchildMike's Top 40 For the Week Ending: January 2, 2016 DROPPERS:Macklemore & Ryan Lewis featuring Leon Bridges - Kevin (from 40) Above & Beyond featuring Gemma Hayes - Counting Down the Days (from 39) Zara Larsson - Lush Life (from 37) Disclosure featuring Sam Smith - Omen (from 32) Adele steps into the #1 spot on this first week of 2016, though she'll have a huge fight on her hands if she wants to keep it, as St. Lucia continues to steamroll his way upward. Expect him to indeed have a long stay up top once he gets there. There's plenty of jockeying for position in this week's Top 20, which should make for an exciting January as we see how everything shakes out. We're likely to see a series of songs peak one after the other, while a couple will end up riding the waves up toward the top. "Magnets" is going to have a very tough time trying to dislodge St. Lucia - if that fails, then it may not be until Jake Miller or Lindsay Ell get close enough that we have clear potential successors after him. Adam Lambert may end up missing the Top 10 on this go-round...but, that won't really become clear for a few weeks, as he hasn't quite run out of steam just yet. While "Focus" is indeed still going, and reaches Top 20 territory this week, I don't think it'll reach the Top 10. I'm thinking this will start to die out within the next few weeks. We'll see... "Rocket", on the other hand, is pretty much done. I'm not sure about a big fall next week, with three of the next six songs all falling, but in the week after, we'll see the bottom start to fall out. Incidentally, those falling songs should definitely provide relief to the stagnant bottom half next week. And...that should do it for this week's chart talk. NEW PICK OF THE WEEK:Tove Lo - InfluenceYes, I do have a New Pick for this week after all. I avoided listening to anything new for the week once I began my year-end countdown, but I'd heard this gem already before that happened...so. Until next week... -Mike

Don't get too excited about this week, folks... @jakelmmrs44 Juan Carlos yuh yuh josh Kurt Daryl the Beryl ♛ The Manticore ☯ @drag27 Zeebz surfy Rose Wintur Albie ry4n Au$tin ★Disco★ sadchildMike's Top 40 For the Week Ending: January 9, 2016 There's not much to say this week...I've mostly put new/current music on hold this week. The result has been a depressing effect on my chart, thus not much movement of note, and no debuts this week. Actually, truth be told, there was a good chance that this would be a debutless week anyway, but the first seven songs all holding right in place didn't originally look to be in the cards. This veritable "chart on ice" is good news for Adele, however, as it gives her a second week at the top spot for "Hello". There should be no reasonable expectation, though, of her still being there next week. "Rebel Heart" has in fact peaked, though...Hedley would likely have jumped over her had this been more of a normal week. Even though they didn't, I saw no reason to postpone the bullet loss. Indeed, no song jumps over a bulleted song this week, and with "Rebel Heart" as the sole bullet loss on the entire chart, the side effect of this is it grants "Rocket" a new peak, as the cumulative effect of descending songs pushes it back up three to #18. So it looks like this will be its peak week instead of three weeks ago. With no New Picks this week, that's all, folks! See you next week. -Mike

So...here's last week's chart. @jakelmmrs44 Juan Carlos yuh yuh josh Kurt Daryl the Beryl ♛ The Manticore ☯ @drag27 Zeebz surfy Rose Wintur Albie ry4n Au$tin ★Disco★ sadchildMike's Top 40 For the Week Ending: January 23, 2016 DROPPERS:INTRESSTandLOUIS - Find You (from 35) CHVRCHES - Leave a Trace (from 30) Oooookay. So, here's a look at the past two weeks. St. Lucia moved into the #1 spot last week, and this past week holds in place. Actually, the Top 8 all hold position (yes, despite Adele being bulletless both weeks at #3) this week. "Magnets", unfortunately, will likely have to settle for multiple weeks stuck at #2 - the second time that Disclosure will be stuck behind a monster #1 - but for now should still be there come next week. Hedley, Selena Gomez, and probably Years & Years too - they're all peaking. This will ultimately be good news for Jake Miller; don't be surprised to see him make a big move upward this coming week. One Direction aren't peaking yet, but no way will they be a threat to #1. Lindsay Ell, on the other hand - very much a future contender. I wasn't sure that Adam Lambert would quite make it into the Top 10 with this one, but "The Original High" does just that this week. He might not have a long stay up there, though. Of the next five, only Olly Murs might be struggling. Similar to Adam, I'm not sure how much higher he will go. The curtain appears to now have fallen on "Focus", as it loses its bullet in its third week in a row at #17. Other songs I'm not sure will go much higher (if at all): "Something New" and "Something in the Way You Move". And despite "Heal" being listed as a New Pick some weeks ago, I've finally decided that I won't be charting that one after all. Though I really like its melody, its lyrical premise - maybe its phrasing, rather - just bothers me to the point that it drags the song too far down to ignore. The follow-ups to #1 smashes by Troye Sivan and Kacey Musgraves take the week's biggest jumps last week and this week, respectively - don't be surprised to see these both as future #1s themselves. Speaking of follow-ups, last week the third charting song from Blurryface landed for Twenty One Pilots, and so too did an overdue follow-up appearance for Reba McEntire. Bonnie McKee also sees an unexpected second trip to the chart as well. Lastly, a look at one of this week's two debuts: The one from CHAP. Who is CHAP, exactly? Well, CHAP is a solo project from singer-songwriter Lucas Silveira. Lucas was born Lilia Silveira - born female, is now male - and is lead singer of the Canadian band The Cliks. But Lucas has pursued plenty musical interests on his own, and intends this project to happen outside of the mainstream music industry, due to a history of difficulties he's had to face as a transgender man trying to make a living through a musical career. He's also set up a GoFundMe page in conjunction with this project. "Walk Away" is the first song to have resulted from it thus far, and its featured act, Lil' One, is also a transgender man - an inclusion that Lucas has said was done deliberately. And...that should do it for this week's chart talk. NEW PICKS OF THE WEEK:Kiley Dean - Million MilesMaggie Rose - BrokenRÜFÜS - Say a Prayer For MeUntil next week... -Mike

Welp. Here's this past week's chart. WAIT WHAT'S THIS I HAVE NO MORE CHARTS LEFT PENDING? Yup. And there's even commentary this week too! @jakelmmrs44 Juan Carlos yuh yuh josh Kurt Daryl the Beryl ♛ The Manticore ☯ @drag27 Zeebz surfy Rose Wintur Albie ry4n Au$tin ★Disco★ sadchildMike's Top 40 For the Week Ending: February 13, 2016 DROPPERS:JoJo - Save My Soul (from 37) Madonna - Rebel Heart (from 36) Olivia Somerlyn - O X O (from 33) Secret Weapons - Something New (from 30) Yup...five weeks on top for "Dancing on Glass"! Next week it will try for a sixth, but the competition is heating up, so that will be a tough battle. It's also looking to be do-or-die time for "Sunshine" (if you'll pardon the expression) - Lindsay Ell moves up to #3 and is definitely looking like a future #1, while "Middle" jumps 8-4 and will likely be posing a stiff threat to anyone still in front of it as well. So, next week will likely be its last shot to take the top spot from St. Lucia. Further down, Lipstick Gypsy should also factor into the mix soon, Lost Kings hit the Top 10 this week, and with other hits on the horizon from Janet Jackson, Alden Richards, Troye Sivan, and others, the Top 10 will continue to be the place where only the strong survive. With "Magnets" on the way down, this is the second time now that Disclosure have had their path to the top stopped by a monstrous #1 song. Back in 2014, "Latch" spent two weeks at runner-up behind a 7-week run at the top for "Sleeping With a Friend". Now, "Latch" could very likely have still peaked at #2 in any case, but "Magnets", on the other hand, would certainly have otherwise gone to #1 had it not been for St. Lucia. In any event, that makes it fortuitous that Disclosure were able to take "Omen" to the top when they did - had Troye beaten them back with "Wild" sooner, this would have been their THIRD such denial. Chicane is likely peaking at #16 - "Ibiza Strings" has been decent, but both Troye and "Heaven" jump over it this week, and the growing list of movers coming up from below looks to be decidedly unforgiving. Enya is also done for after reaching #20 last week. "Ride" hits the chart this week, while "Doubt" continues up to #23. Both songs will ultimately rise on their own merits - I picked "Doubt" as the next song to chart because Twenty One Pilots hadn't yet picked their next single to follow "Stressed Out", and "Doubt" was/is the next one that I like the most. But "Ride" is good too, and with that getting an official release I'm not about to just delay that one here so that "Doubt" can get a run. But "Doubt" isn't getting short-circuited either. On a similar matter, it should be pretty clear by now that neither "When We Were Young" nor "Send My Love (To Your New Lover)" are going to hit this chart for Adele. Who knows what, if anything, may happen in the wake of "All I Ask" at the Grammys on Monday, but for the time being, see below for what will be lined up to follow "Hello". For this coming week's chart, I have in mind a look at the latest trend to be impacting my chart. But for now: NEW PICKS OF THE WEEK:The Brothers Osborne - 21 SummerNina Nesbitt - Chewing GumAdam Lambert - Things I Didn't SayAdele - Water Under the Bridge (Live) Until next week... -Mike

And here's this week's chart! Now to just not fall behind again... Does St. Lucia secure a sixth week at the summit? Does the sun rise on Jake Miller taking the throne? Does Lindsay Ell find her way to the top? Does DJ Snake cut a path straight through? Or does someone else come along and beat them all back? @jakelmmrs44 Juan Carlos yuh yuh josh Kurt Daryl the Beryl ♛ The Manticore ☯ @drag27 Zeebz surfy Rose Wintur Albie ry4n Au$tin ★Disco★ sadchildMike's Top 40 For the Week Ending: February 20, 2016 DROPPERS:Olly Murs - Kiss Me (from 33) Adam Lambert - The Original High (from 31) After 5 weeks, St. Lucia surrenders the top spot this week to "Sunshine". We'll see if it proves to be a brief stay, with Lindsay, DJ Snake, and now Lipstick Gypsy all waiting in the wings. Meanwhile, Ashley Gearing looks to have indeed peaked at #6, while Janet cracks the Top 10 again with "Night". Troye Sivan leapfrogs Alden Richards, but I'm not sure Alden's peaked quite yet. Still, he might not go much higher. Much further down, CHAP looks to have run out of steam at #32. Now, let's look at a recent trend that's become quite prevalent on my chart recently. Lately, albums have been extending themselves on my chart, with bodies of work that include multiple great songs seeing those songs chart one after the other after the other. I'll start off with a couple "near miss"-type examples relative to this week's chart. One is Josh Dorr. "Down Goes the Cowboy", which debuted two weeks ago, is his fourth song to chart. But all four of his songs haven't been grouped together under one project. The first two, "Save Your Breath" and "All or Nothing" were from his EP. "Rocket" was a stand-alone release that came some time after. "Down Goes the Cowboy" is also stand-alone. The other, is only a miss in terms of timing, as she just recently dropped off the chart. I'm talking about Madonna, who strung three consecutive songs from Rebel Heart - "Devil Pray", "Ghosttown", and the title track. This, obviously, fits what I'm talking about - but, I can say that she unfortunately won't have any more songs forthcoming from that album charting here. As to current or soon-to-be chart action, we have: Years & Years - "Eyes Shut", a recent #6, is the fifth song to chart off Communion, and a SIXTH, "Ties", is on its way. Adam Lambert - "The Original High", the title track to his album, falls off this week, but "Things I Didn't Say" was revealed as a New Pick just last week, and will likely be his third charter. There will also likely be more after that (track "Lucy" comes to mind). Janet Jackson - "Night" is her second charter off Unbreakable; at least two songs - "Take Me Away" and "The Great Forever" come to mind - are likely to follow that. Twenty One Pilots - "Doubt" arrived last month as the third song to chart off Blurryface, but that album's ACTUAL release of another good song, "Ride", prompted me to chart that now as the fourth, with both ultimately charting together. Troye Sivan - "Talk Me Down" is his second charter off Blue Neighbourhood; he too will likely have more to follow. In his case though, I'm not quite sure yet what will come next. Kacey Musgraves - "Late to the Party" is her third charter off Pageant Material, though she finds herself in much the same situation as Troye. Adele - As stated last week, I'm skipping BOTH "When We Were Young" and "Send My Love (To Your New Lover)", in favor of "Water Under the Bridge" as 25's second charter. Reba McEntire - "Going Out Like That" was a huge hit for her here last year, though she didn't see a follow-up off Love Somebody until "Just Like Them Horses" rode in last month. It's been a while since I've listened to that album though, so I'm not quite sure ATM what, if anything, will follow. Selena Gomez - Technically she qualifies for this as well: Though I skipped "Good For You", its follow-up "Same Old Love" is a recent #5, and now "Hands to Myself" debuted just last week. I haven't listened to her album in full at all, though. And one more I'll also mention: Rihanna - "Work" leads off ANTI; at this point, "Kiss Me Better" seems a very likely follow-up candidate. And that's my look at the albums that are currently impacting my chart to greater degrees of late. Now, onto some new music this week! NEW PICKS OF THE WEEK:Foxes - CruelTim McGraw - Humble and KindKREAM - Love You MoreGwen Stefani - Make Me Like YouUntil next week... -Mike

I should put more prominence in charting album tracks too. I do occasionally but not enough. Everyone seems to have jumped on Night for Janet and Late To The Party. Better late than never!
