@jakelmmrs44 Juan Carlos yuh yuh josh Kurt Daryl the Beryl ♛ The Manticore ☯ @drag27 Zeebz surfy Rose Wintur Albie ry4n Au$tin ★Disco★ sadchild Sean MTSChart21Mike's Top 40 For the Week Ending: May 7, 2016 DROPPERS:Kelly Clarkson - Piece By Piece (from 35) Guy Sebastian - Black & Blue (from 33) Colette Carr sits comfortably on top for a second week, and should have no trouble securing a third. Twenty One Pilots and Rihanna, last week's #2 and #3, both lose their bullets this week, and Rihanna also slips a notch. Reba would have started falling this week, but instead sees one last breath which brings her up to #3 this week. Next in line appear to be Austin Mahone and Years & Years. CHVRCHES remain bulleted at #7, but are likely close to peaking themselves. The teens, a solid wall of bullets last week, see a slight crack this week, as while all the songs continue to rise, The Corrs and Troye depart the Top 10. This week, it is the 20s that are a solid bullet wall. Yes, the middle of the chart is a very, very tough place to be right now. The 30s, on the other hand, are rather wobbly this week. "Stay" and "AYTA" are headed for the door, while "Cruel" may not be far behind. Meanwhile, "Watch You Burn" and "Close" are left in the dust as "Kiss it Better" and "The Sound" go flying upward. Meanwhile, Eurovision hits the chart this week, as the Azerbaijan and Latvian entries are this week's two debuts. And...that should do it for this week's chart talk. There are no New Picks for this past week, so until next week... -Mike

Last week...well, the chart was a little late in posting. This week: Not so much. @jakelmmrs44 Juan Carlos yuh yuh josh Kurt Daryl the Beryl ♛ The Manticore ☯ @drag27 Zeebz surfy Rose Wintur Albie ry4n Au$tin ★Disco★ sadchild Sean MTSChart21Mike's Top 40 For the Week Ending: May 14, 2016 DROPPERS:The Knocks featuring Carly Rae Jepsen - Love Me Like That (from 39) Kygo featuring Maty Noyes - Stay (from 36) Collective Soul - AYTA (from 34) Foxes - Cruel (from 32) Colette cruises to her third week on top, and next week she'll try for a fourth. But things just became very interesting in that Top 10...! Let's start with Years & Years, who now have their highest-peaking song to date as "Ties" leaps from #6 to #2. They leapfrog Austin Mahone in the process, and in also so doing have likely just slammed the door on his #1 chances. But perhaps they shouldn't get too cocky! This week's Biggest Mover, Taylor Swift, also leaps from #9 to #4 in her own quest for one last #1 from 1989. The Top 10 falls this week will indeed be a sign of things to come. "Work", "Doubt", and Reba all fall this week, and Kacey departs the Top 10. Further down, "Ride" appears to have possibly peaked at #13, while "Talk Me Down" continues its steady decline. Still bulleted, but also possibly peaking, are CHVRCHES and Kiley Dean. Iggy Azalea holds in place at #24 this week, but I wouldn't call "Team" done at this point. Continuing down, Anchor & Braille, Carrie, and Tryon all lose their bullets, with Tryon also dropping two. So yes, the chart logjams should cease for a bit. Isn't that nice? And...that should do it for this week's chart talk. NEW PICKS OF THE WEEK:SafetySuit - PauseYoungr - Out of My SystemAndie Case - Coming AroundHeffron Drive - Rain Don't ComeHillary Scott & The Scott Family - Thy WillEmblem3 - End of the SummerB.o.B. featuring Marko Penn - Roll UpUntil next week... -Mike

fearlessarrow: My taste is pretty much all over the place, I dabble in multiple genres. I mean I've always leaned Pop since I started listening to Pop extensively, but Country having a strong presence can be owed to just being able to find enough good Country music right now. A case in point as to how it can be as much of the times as anything else: This time last year, Country's presence would actually be on the wane for a little while. Dance music had a strong charge last summer. Oh and for that matter after I switched full-on to Pop by 1999, I avoided pretty much all non-crossover Country music after then until just two years ago. So...there's that. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ @jakelmmrs44 Juan Carlos yuh yuh josh Kurt Daryl the Beryl ♛ The Manticore ☯ @drag27 Zeebz surfy Rose Wintur Albie ry4n Au$tin ★Disco★ sadchild Sean MTSChart21Mike's Top 40 For the Week Ending: May 21, 2016 DROPPERS:Anchor & Braille - Watch You Burn (from 35) The Corrs - Bring on the Night (from 32) Carrie Underwood - Church Bells (from 30) Tryon - Somebody to Love Me (from 29) Colette Carr stays on top for the fourth consecutive week. Next week, incredibly, she will try for a fifth. Years & Years hold firm at #2 and will try again next week for their first #1. Taylor pushes Austin Mahone backward and moves up to #3. We'll see if she can do one better next week and push her way straight to the top! Speaking of Austin, though, despite holding onto a bullet this week, he may now be out of the race for #1. Below him, new potential future contenders emerge, with Alex Newell moving up to #5, Gwen Stefani moving up to #6, and Tim McGraw leaping into the Top 10 at #7. All in all, the chart is much more active this week - note the number of songs that move up 3, 4, 5 notches. The Biggest Dropper, "Work", only drops 8, but three out of the four chart droppers this week arguably take falls bigger than that to drop off. "Team" does go up after last week's stall, but only goes up one, as The 1975 and Janet Jackson both surge past. Holding this week, but not done just yet, is Rayvon Owen at #27. Eurovision 2016 may have come and gone, but Justs and Samra are likely here to stay for a while. The Knocks and Carly Rae Jepsen return after a week away, as last week their song appeared to have sputtered out after having to wait so long to debut. But this week, "Love Me Like That" gets a strong second wind, good enough to return a couple notches higher than it left. And...that should do it for this week's chart talk. There are no New Picks this week, so until next week... -Mike

Oh, and I'm also sad to see that "Doubt" peaked at #2 It had the same problem that befell "Magnets" a few months ago - worthy enough to be a #1 song, but peaking at the same time that an absolute colossus occupies the top spot while in peak form.

Last week's chart. @jakelmmrs44 Juan Carlos yuh yuh josh Kurt Daryl the Beryl ♛ The Manticore ☯ @drag27 Zeebz surfy Rose Wintur Albie ry4n Au$tin ★Disco★ sadchild Sean MTSChart21Mike's Top 40 For the Week Ending: June 4, 2016 DROPPER:Rihanna featuring Drake - Work (from 27) Two weeks ago, Years & Years scored their first #1, with "Ties". Last week, Taylor Swift took over with her third #1 song from 1989, "New Romantics". This week (and going forward, really), she'll have to hold off Alex Newell in order to stay on top. Gwen, Tim, and Charles Kelley all hold in place at 4-6 over the past two weeks. Gwen is likely peaking, Tim might not be (yet), and Charles certainly isn't. I see Tim still falling short of #1, and I'm not sure about Charles. The drastic departures of Colette Carr, Austin Mahone, and Isac Elliot from the Top 10 see a much longer line take shape. This isn't necessarily good news, as it foreshadows quite a bit of stalling to come among the upper regions during the month of June. But check out that Top 10 again - notice anything? With the exception of #10, every song within the Top 10 debuted on either February 27 (15 weeks ago) or March 12 (13 weeks ago), and the same can be said for #11. Talk about producing bumper crops of hits! As the chart continues to shake itself loose, though, it yields some significant movement. Look no further than the 20s, complete with Samra making the week's Biggest Move up eight notches to #23. The very bottom was still struggling, but don't expect that to remain the case this week.

-So happy to see "Doubt" and "Late to the Party" were big hits with you! Especially "Late to the Party." -Oh, Smallpools have a new song out? I will have to check it out. "Karaoke" did well with me. -Keep climbing, "True Colors"! -Yay, someone else still charting "Kiss It Better" and increasing it! -Yes at someone else sending "Make Me Like You" top five! -Good to see Taylor at number one even though that was the only 1989 single to miss the top ten for me.

...Or, maybe it will sweep itself in now. This week, we have seven debuts, including the newest track to chart from Kacey Musgraves and the return of Nico & Vinz to the chart (with a little help). And do Taylor's New Romantic ways remain on top for a third week? Does Alex Newell's bid for #1 find itself to be over? Or do we see a new, Humble and Kind #1 this week? We'll find out... @jakelmmrs44 Juan Carlos yuh yuh josh Kurt Daryl the Beryl ♛ The Manticore ☯ @drag27 Zeebz surfy Rose Wintur Albie ry4n Au$tin ★Disco★ sadchild Sean MTSChart21Mike's Top 40 For the Week Ending: June 18, 2016 DROPPERS:CHVRCHES - Empty Threat (from 40) Twenty One Pilots - Doubt (from 39) Kacey Musgraves - Late to the Party (from 38) Reba McEntire - Just Like Them Horses (from 37) Marianas Trench - This Means War (from 36) Iggy Azalea - Team (from 30) Austin Mahone - Hate to Let You Go (from 28) Alex Newell's bid for a #1 hit is indeed over this week, and he's claiming victory! Tim McGraw pushes one more notch forward, but it looks like this is as far as he'll go, for Alex is not likely to surrender that top spot next week. Charles Kelley moves up to #3; his chances to hit #1 remain uncertain as yet. This is indeed a Top 10 full of past #1s and future contenders, as Zendaya, Adam, Adele, and Dan + Shay all could stand a chance to get there yet. That continues to make the crowd gathering at the Top 10 door more and more frustrated, as 11-14 all hold in place for a third week. Nina Nesbitt isn't looking likely to go too much higher, but Kris Allen, The 1975, and Janet all look to be spending some time in the Top 10 this summer. Rayvon Owen, meanwhile, has run out of gas, as he falls four to #21. Fair warning, though: With the unbulleted songs so far apart, don't expect the chart to move very fast over the next few weeks. The Top 10 will see some action, but that might be the most of it. And...that should do it for this week's chart talk. Until next week... -Mike

I want to be tagged and hope "Heartbeat" still climbing! Sure! And note how last week was just awful for upward movement in general. Just 5 songs went up more than one notch (#s 13-9 except for #10, and #3). "Heartbeat" should be able to keep going for a while, easily.

Oh look yay this week's chart is ready to go on time! @jakelmmrs44 Juan Carlos yuh yuh josh Kurt Daryl the Beryl ♛ The Manticore ☯ @drag27 Zeebz surfy Rose Wintur Albie ry4n Au$tin ★Disco★ sadchild Sean MTSChart21 Who The Hell Is Leo?✔Mike's Top 40 For the Week Ending: July 2, 2016 DROPPER:Isac Elliot - No One Else (from 40) Alex Newell holds onto the top spot for a third week. Next week, he'll try for four. Charles Kelley and Zendaya hold at #2 and #3, respectively, and remain in the race for next week. A somewhat dark horse candidate emerges at #4 in the form of Adam Lambert. I say "dark horse" in that all three would, obviously, have to falter for him to surge through. Adele is #5 and the entire Top 5 are the same age on the chart - an unheard of occurrence if there was one! - but I don't see her surging past the other four to take the top spot next week. She'll be biding her time a little more for a future shot. Speaking of Adam though, definite flashback to 2010 with both him and Kris Allen in the Top 10! Back in September of that year, they were both occupying space up in the Top 5 simultaneously, as well - now, here in 2016, Adam has a shot at the top with his latest-charting song, and Kris Allen's is worthy of future consideration as well. (In Kris's case, though, Dan + Shay may prove a difficult obstacle for him when both songs get closer to the summit.) Unfortunately for Nina Nesbitt, though, she appears to have run out of gas trying to keep up with her counterparts, as she stays stuck at #10 for a second week. Sluggish chart movements continue, and likely will over the next couple of weeks as well. Just six songs went up more than a single notch this week, which is actually one more than last week. Having said this, conditions will only continue to improve as the older songs continue to peak and start falling (Humble and Kind, Chewing Gum, and surely this week's Top 3 won't be that far behind). This week's debut is also the sole New Pick (the first in several weeks! ;_;), as Years & Years score a record-tying 7th chart single from Communion. (It ties Avril Lavigne's Let Go and Katy Perry's Teenage Dream re-release, the latter of which also enabled Katy to set the existing record for consecutive weeks on the chart in general, which Years & Years may eventually threaten if they can keep going!) This is hardly surprising, given that their 6th became their first #1 song here a month ago. Whether they can nab a record-breaking 8th charter from their album will certainly depend, at least in part, on how well "Worship" fares. I don't see general timing factoring in here yet, what with "Worship" scheduled for actual release soon (Avril's era was ultimately ended by her Under My Skin era suddenly starting when the 7th Let Go charter, "Nobody's Fool", was in the middle of the Top 10), but...well, we'll just see what happens. And...that should do it for this week's chart talk. So, how about that New Pick, eh? NEW PICK OF THE WEEK:Years & Years - Worship (#40) Until next week... -Mike
