"Pay Your Way in Pain" has quite the Fiona Apple edge to it and I'm LIVING for it. very good.

SNL performance on April 3. Also, "The Melting of the Sun" is expected to be the second song to be performed there because it will be out two days prior that.

Maybe these new songs will grow on me?? I was really looking forward to this era from the aesthetic and musical direction. But I’m just not connecting with either of the new songs. Maybe it’s just not my taste?

Loving this. The production is out of this world impeccable. Give Jack and Annie a Grammy already.
It's more of a vibe and less structured than her last album, but after repeated listens, I like everything except the title track.

Finally got my hands on this CD after Amazon jerked me around, but not SOOO late after release. Could've been worse, especially because I ordered on Friday, LOL.
Anyway, this is a vibe. The drumming is my favorite part, but I also love Annie's vocal performances on this. I feel like the first half is just the opening act for the second half. I mean...from Down on is just fucking absurdly perfect. Right now, I think I prefer Masseduction but maybe with time, that will change.
Somebody Like Me (that instrumental reminds me of late Radiohead x Kings of Leon. I dig this one a lot. actually, the ending took it over the top for me. best on the album) Down (WHOAAAA. Come through, Tori Amos! Reminds me of her song God mixed with Monkey by George Michael in the best way.) My Baby Wants A Baby (magic. Love that Morning Train interpolation) ...At The Holiday Party Candy Darling Down And Out Downtown (this kinda gives me Serge Gainsbourg vibes, but it's mostly the bass and drums. also, it's Annie's favorite.) Pay Your Way In Pain Daddy's Home (oooh, this is so sexy. the drumming and the vocals and the bgvs all come together nicely) The Melting of the Sun The Laughing Man Live In The Dream

I am SO SO glad I didn’t give up after the first listen!! I thought the album was boring. Well a few days later I came back to it and I’m really really liking it now!! I keep coming back to it and discovering something new each time. It is for sure that type of albums that needed a few listens. And the production is great. It will be for sure one of my favorite ones of the year.

This album translates so well live, really enjoyed her show. She is so sexy as a performer without really even trying. But her speaking voice trips me up, especially in contrast to her singing voice and persona. Every time she talked to the crowd, I was like who is this soccer mom?

Shocked there is no ATX date, especially with hometown heroes Spoon in tow. Oh, I forgot she is scheduled for ACL Week 1 when I am out of town, LOL. Her Masseduction set at Coachella was one of my highlights.

In this interview for the Guardian, there are some details from the album: www.theguardian.com/music/2024/mar/02/st-vincent-all-born-screaming-interview"The album’s opening two songs, the Tori Amos-esque mood piece Hell Is Near and Reckless, which has its early fragility swallowed by stormy electronics, took ages to perfect.""Flea, I tell Clark, makes me think of flies feasting on a corpse. It’s gross, both lyrically and musically. Another raised eyebrow. “That’s you, and I’m so glad for your feelings and interpretation,” she says with a grin. “Gross is the right word. The anthems in my head growing up were ‘I’m a creep’, ‘I’m a loser’, and were in touch with a baseness that we all have.”""Violent Times, which resembles an elegantly sloshed lost Bond theme, hinges on a lyric that seems to sum up where Clark finds herself in 2024, desperately holding on to love with white knuckles: “All of the wasted nights fighting mortality / When in the ashes of Pompeii lovers discovered in an embrace for all eternity.""A moment of beauty on the album is the pulsating Sweetest Fruit, which opens with an ode to the late electronic music producer Sophie, who fell to her death in 2021".I can't wait!!!
