Unless LMLYD also releases a remix, it probably won't beat it in sales before 15 weeks

Maybe there can be a viral video Harlem-Shake-style for Thinking Out Loud that will give the song a huge boost in "streaming" and get it to #1 after all? At that point I wouldn't really be complaining (even though I still think it's a very inaccurate measurement to include something that's not about the song but just happens to have it playing in the background) because I reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeally want Ed to get a #1 and I really feel he deserved it the week that Grammys had an impact...

I remember when Uptown Funk came out and its sales were failing and I thought "well thank God that trash isn't catching on".

I just have this weird feeling that the song to finally knock UF off on the Hot 100 will be that rumored Bad Blood remix with Kanye. I can see it coming out in like late April or early May and having a massive #1 debut.

I can't recall a recent period where nothing looked like it could challenge #1 for such an extended period of time. It certainly helps that it comes from an album that's only sold around 60K actual units. But that's OK.

Man I really am eager to know how many weeks Uptown Funk will get at #1! The anxiety is killing me! In February I was sure it wouldn't get more than 12 weeks but now it's looking like it probably will...10 weeks and it's barely decreasing on any of the three components (and still #1 on all three...) This is easily going to be one of the biggest songs of the decade (unless it somehow falls even harder than Thrift Shop and Blurred Lines did)

I'm rooting for 15 weeks simply because no other song has reigned for 15 weeks during the Hot 100 era.

Man I really am eager to know how many weeks Uptown Funk will get at #1! The anxiety is killing me! I feel exactly the opposite: I didn't imagine it could get 10 wks at #1. Now since it got it every additional week will be a bonus for me. In the end of the day it's just a single Bruno decided to release with his pals in between eras. I wonder what this dream team is capable of in the following years.

Does anyone know any digital sales milestones in the last month since Paul Grein doesn't update them anymore?

Even I can't see it being #1 for 7 more weeks lol. I think something will dethrone it by then. 5 more weeks is definitely possible, and I would think more likely than 7. Maybe it can get 6 more and at least tie the record.

Hopefully not, it needs to go away. I'm rooting for Ellie to dethrone it soon

I guess it's a sign of a really uneventful chart period when the only action people are talking about is still 7 weeks away. personally, I'm ready to see UF step aside - 10/11 weeks is a massive accomplishment, and I don't want "Sugar" or LMLYD suffering the same fate as TOL.
and speaking of TOL, it's a shame his team didn't just do a little discount after the Grammys - even a $0.99 deal might've been enough. I know some chart fans view discounts are unfair/illegitimate, but I just see them as examples of labels making smart, strategic moves to help their acts succeed (and they're certainly far, far, far less shady than the radio deals.)

But realistically speaking its not looking like LMLYD or Sugar will be able to dethrone it. I thought Sugar had a chance before the remix ended up flopping hard. Anything that will dethrone UF probably won't do so for a few more weeks...

Can people finally get over the fact that TOL this mediocre, sappy ballad never reached the top of BB Hot 100 Chart? EVEN with the Grammy boost it did`t have a chance. UF kept its AI lead, got 3M lead in streaming while .TOL only got 13k lead in sales. Discount would't help. Besides Bruno is the biggest act signed to Atlantic so they probably didn't care.

LMLYD just started exploding airplay-wise, and UF might be seeing much bigger drops by then (maybe not.) there could be discounts, commercial tie-ins, TV appearances, etc. that their teams have up their sleeves. or maybe this is all just wishful thinking on my part.

I mean how on earth could he possibly ever top it success-wise?

Mars x Bhasker have been good friends for +7 yrs but Ronson joined them in late 2012. Although they created great tunes for UJ right after they met UF is just whole another level imho. They most likely will have plenty of success chart-wise when they reunite again but hits like UF happen very rarely.

When Uptown Funk! first came out I knew it was gonna be a #1 but I never would've thought it would be so huge - as big as some of the biggest smashes of this decade like Blurred Lines. Needless to say, I'm pleasantly surprised :)
