I like Uptown Funk, but really, it burned out quickly on me. And I have a feeling whatever dethrone UF will have a 5+ weeks reign. It will probably be the song of the summer that dethrones it and have another really long reign. Watch this year only have like 6 Hot 100 #1's or something. Then it will be record setting , the previous low is 2005 with 8. Btw, officially, this year's only #1 so far is Uptown Funk because Blank Space started it's reign in 2014

If you want to exclude How Your Remind Me and You Got It Bad (Which both reach #1 for the first time in 2001), 2002 only have 7 number-ones, and the only reason why 2005 doesn't have only 7 #1's is thanks to Carrie's 1 week at #1. But yeah, if 2015 somehow managed to become the most stagnant year in history of Billboard Hot 100, I will cry. In another note, the highest number of #1 in a year is 35 in 1974 and 1975. And in 1975, there's an instance where 14 weeks in a row, there's a new #1 each week.

Uptown funk deserves wherever it is reaching and deserves what it will be nominated and awarded for. Also I prefer UF stay #1 for 16 weeks instead of songs like 45S and style reach #1!

LMLYD's radio domination Hopefully it'll have overtaken Time Of Our Lives by this time next week, and Style will be #2. Also, strange how Night Changes has been gaining a lot on radio recently.

Does anyone know what the #s mean? If a song increases 1.45 for example? What does any of that mean preferably in layman terms.

Does anyone know what the #s mean? If a song increases 1.45 for example? What does any of that mean preferably in layman terms. Basically, all radio stations are evaluated periodically for how big their average audience is. From there, their plays are reported to Nielson SoundScan, who assigns that audience value per play. For example. if Radio Station X plays Talking Body 5 times in a day, and their audience was calibrated to 5,000 people, those plays add 25,000 audience impressions for the day. The numbers listed here are in millions of impressions, so that amount would be listed as .025. The audience impressions updated daily are the total in that day (Billboard Radio Songs basically uses Monday as what it bases its number off). To continue with that example, imagine there are two stations in the entire US: Station Y with a 30,000 audience, and Station Z with a 40,000 audience. The first day, Y plays a new song 20 times and Z plays it 50 times. This would be represented on the daily charts as: New Song / Some Artist - 2.600 (+2.600)Now, the next day, suppose Station Z only plays the song 30 times and Station Y plays it 25 times due a bit of increased requests. That would be shown as: New Song / Some Artist - 1.950 (-0.650) It's worth noting that Billboard's sample is a bit smaller than the Mediabase/kworb/whichever-source-is-also-posted-regularly ones. Usually it scales down smoothly, but not always. Also, when there are talks of radio recalibrations, this means that a set of (or all) stations are being reaudited for their audience. This tends to result in giant hits that have longevity taking a hit, as usually the stations still playing them frequently have stagnated setlists that have been drawing away listeners. P.S. To someone more experienced than me in these matters, please let me know if I made inaccuracies!

I don't really see the point of the question mark in the thread title lol...there was no viral video last week right?
1. Uptown Funk! (30% lead) 2. Sugar 3. Thinking Out Loud 4. Love Me Like You Do 5. FourFiveSeconds 6. Earned It 7. Style 8. Time Of Our Lives 9. Lay Me Down (would be higher if it wasn't so shockingly low in airplay; I'm assuming it has decent streaming) 10. Take Me To Church

My predictions..
1. Uptown Funk 2. Sugar 3/4. Thinking Out Loud/Love Me Like You Do (depends on how radio goes for the next day or two) 5. Four Five Seconds 6. Style 7. Earned It 8. Time Of Our Lives 9. Take Me To Church 10. Trap Queen 11/12/13. I Don't Mind/Lay Me Down/G.D.F.R. (Lay Me Down has very little radio, is behind on Spotify and I don't think YouTube streams or sales will be enough to beat IDM, but you never know).
Somebody and One Last Time should fill out the rest of the top 15. Heartbeat Song will fall, but remain in the top 30. Chains will go top 20. Take Your Time will go top 30 and peak, so will Shut Up & Dance, but that may continue rising. I Want You To Know will return to the top 30. Riptide will fall very close to recurrent, as well as Chandelier (pleeeeassee make 52 weeks). Both Empire Cast songs will fall off, Love Me Harder and No Type will go recurrent. I Lived will fall off, as well as Sledgehammer. Hanging Tree will have another small jump. Bright will enter lower regions of the chart, Want To Want Me will enter top 40.

What I don't get is how hard I Really Like You is flopping... There is no denying that the video dramatically underperformed, but I definitely get the impression the label didn't think this was going to come storming out of the gate the way we might have here. As I wrote in the song thread, the fact that they launched the song three weeks before impact means that they didn't anticipate the market instantly jumping on a Carly Rae Jepsen song - they knew they needed to build some momentum with sales and a viral video first. The sales and video performance are definitely disillusioning, and I definitely have my doubts about whether this is going to truly blow up, but the release schedule makes it clear they didn't see this as an instant #1.

What was Nicki's last Top 10 on Mediabase? Also, don't count "Truffle Butter" out for a Top 10 spot.

Wow 20 songs with over 2 million plays...I remember a year ago barely one or two would have that many :O My predictions.. LMLYD is still pretty far behind TOL in airplay (although gaining). It's not that far ahead in sales. It would need at least a 3 million streams lead over TOL which, considering that TOL had a lead over it in streams last week, is very unlikely. Next week (4/4) LMLYD will likely pass TOL, returning to its peak position of #3 (maybe even get to #2 if Sugar starts falling). Also I think Earned It will pass Style this week (according to Daniel's predictions, they were really close in points last week). And I sure as hell hope you're wrong about Trap Queen couldn't bear more than 15 seconds of it. I know LMD has weak airplay right now (shocking considering that it's a Sam Smith single that has been out for some time now) but it has very strong sales and will probably have a decent amount of streaming for both versions combined. I think it will be #9 or #10 with TMTC being the other one. TQ will probably be #11 or #12 (at least that's my wishful thinking). Glad that BS is finally leaving the top ten but if that means TQ enters then nooooooooooo thank you, I'd rather have BS in the top ten until June than for Trash Queen to be top ten.

Oo, forgot about Blank Space lol. Yeah, I now think Lay Me Down will be higher than I Don't Mind, I never realised how much IDM was dropping on radio. I would not be surprised if Trap Queen went top ten this week. I don't want it to (obviously), but will be top 70 on radio, 67K sales and I presume a truck load of streams I'm hoping TMTC finally falls out of the top 10 this week and begins to collapse all together.

Uptown Funk still has a huge lead on airplay. It's still 45m ahead of TOL and that's falling hard. Next song with a bullet is Style and that's 70m away.
Plus it's still doing hugely on streaming, and it's not showing any signs of slowing down on iTunes. It's clearly the most dominant force on the charts since Happy or even Blurred Lines. It won't be leaving #1 anytime soon and has year-end #1 pretty much in the bag.

Something else would have to just be one of the biggest hits ever between now and 2019 to stop that. Ironically enough, last decade's #1 came at this same point in the decade: We Belong Together in 2005.

Well we first must see it pull off close to 29 weeks in the top 10 and 68 weeks on the chart like "Party Rock Anthem" did before we can be sure that it will be the decade-end #1

Party Rock Anthem is going to be the biggest hit of 2010's, like it or not, of course, unless a Smooth or How Do I Live sized hit appeared.....

I'm surprised UF has lasted this long to be honest. I guess it's unoffensive enough, but it's just generic 70s throwback memes mashed together into a 4 minute mishmosh of nothingness.
