downloading update now on my ipad. We'll see how it goes. I have a spotify subscription that I pay only $4.99 a month for with my student discount so it will take something super amazing to make me double what I pay to stream music.

What iOS do you need for this?
ETA: God dammit, I just upgraded to iOS 8.3 thinking that was the one for this, but of course now I can get the update for 8.4.

I'm perfectly happy with Spotify but updated to test out Apple Music just because I have an iPhone. Went to stream the new Demi single and it wouldn't play nor did anything else I tried to stream. MESS. #TeamSpotify

Seems decent so far. I'll do the 3 month trial and then just stick to Spotify.
Dumb question: Would the 3 month trial end on October 1st for people that started today?

Signed up for free trial today. Monthly subscription here in Slovenia is €5.99 or $6.6225. That's cheaper than Deezer at €6.99.
So far, I dunno. It's not as easy to use as Spotify, but Spotify isn't legally available here. Beats 1 radio is pretty cool, but when I tried listening to it, the guy from New York was playing Jay Z and Beastie Boys songs only and I got tired of it. I did get the feeling that the station is basically a BBC Radio 1 rip off in a lot of ways.
The good news is, now I have streaming service integrated into iTunes.

The scrobbling to Last.FM does happen. It might be necessary to update the Last.FM plugin/client to the most current version. I listened to hundreds of songs on Apple Music and they are all scrobbled.

People were saying CloudScrob worked but it wasn't scrobbling a single song from Apple Music.Never mind, I think I figured it out.

Last.Fm scrobbler 2.1.37 scrobbles Apple Music. It doesn't work for Beats 1 since it's a radio.

I've been trying it the last couple days and haven't been impressed. I'm definitely not going to keep it.

There's no way to access this if you don't own a credit card, is there?

They have a pretty good collection of songs that I like. Most of the current stuff and even some obscure stuff from the past. There's no way to access this if you don't own a credit card, is there? I wonder if it could be accessible with an iTunes gift card? I have bought music from iTunes using those without an actual credit card attached. Or you could with one of those prepaid Visa cards or Mastercards that can be purchased at most drug stores and grocery stores in the gift card section with cash in almost any amount. They do have some fees and stuff sometimes. I had a small amount remaining on one of my prepaid Visa cards so I used a portion of that plus a regular credit card and it went through.

I've got a question. I've heard that the Apple Music streaming site will count affect iTunes Charts in much the same way that streaming affects the billboard charts. Does anyone know if this is true?

Last.Fm scrobbler 2.1.37 scrobbles Apple Music. It doesn't work for Beats 1 since it's a radio. I keep hoping one of these streaming services will do away with the need for Last.Fm by having their own personal charts. That would really win the streaming service war for me personally.

I hate the new iTunes update. It adds a giant bar to the top of all the playlists that takes up a large part of the screen (it has playlist artwork, the playlist name, and playlist size). There's no way to make it disappear. For playlists that are regularly updated, the playlist artwork doesn't update either (so it has album covers for songs that aren't even on the playlist anymore).
The iOS update is pretty cool though. Finally, they added the ability to "Add to Up Next" in the Music app from your iPhone.

When I first signed up with Apple Music, I was under the impression I could keep my music files with the added benefit of streaming. Turns out, it replaces all the songs I've got with DRM versions. That means any song I've manually downloaded is either expunged from my playlists or replaced with a DRM version. How ironic--something that can discourage piracy is stealing my music. That's right, my music. When they say everybody's stealing music, they've said a mouthful. Looks like I have to unsubscribe to get my music back.

I'm not sure yet - i don't think the iPhone version is particularly intuitive. I also like the idea of having music I own and music I am streaming in two separate places.
Early days, but there are no differentiators for me yet (I use Spotify).

I love it and will definitely be keeping it after the trial ends. It's the first streaming service I've ever really committed to. I love that I can keep any album or song for offline listening. It's going to actually save me a lot of money as I don't see myself buying singles or albums after this. I'm totally committed to the apple ecosystem and now I have all of my music, albums and playlists accessible from anywhere and on all of my devices, without the need for a direct sync which I never actually do anymore.

Agree with everything you said, criminal.
I also think it's the easiest streaming service I've encountered. Maybe that's just because it integrated with the old music app... But, I love it.

I was a total Spotify fanboy, but I started using Apple Music over the weekend and I'm in love. It's just so convenient and easy to use. I'm pretty sure I'll be canceling my Spotify account and switching over to Apple full-time.

Dear Janhova and Cicus Christ! I JUST signed up for X-Box Music and now it's barely working since they announced the swtich-over to "Groove" yesterday.
I think I'm going to peace out of streaming until everything calms down in a few months. The extra $10 will allow me to go to Chipotle an extra time per month instead.

Dear Janhova and Cicus Christ! I JUST signed up for X-Box Music and now it's barely working since they announced the swtich-over to "Groove" yesterday. Oh, I guess that explains why it was being so sluggish when I tried it out last week. I tried Apple Music and unfortunately it was a bust for me. I'm an Android user so I won't even be able to test run the mobile app until next month, and within iTunes it was so non-intuitive that I got annoyed with it out and abandoned it. I may return to it later. Tried out Google Play and Xbox for a bit and neither of those satisfied my needs either. If I'm at home or school, I'm on my computer almost all the time so I need any streaming service to have both a good mobile and desktop app. But Google Play not only doesn't have a Windows-friendly version, but it just changed its API two weeks ago, so the one third-party app that made it work on Windows is now broken and the guy who created it said 'fuck it, I'm not going to bother trying to fix it.' XBox Music was ok, but it was slowing my computer down and there's no replay-1 button. Such a random omission, but I really can't abide by that. So back to Spotify for me, unless Apple Music proves itself to be worth it for us Android users when we can finally try it out. If it is I'll try to give the desktop/iTunes app another chance. I didn't even dislike Spotify, but I was pretty excited to try out Apple so I'm kind of bummed that it didn't work out for me. Spotify's only flaw is that it will not play some of my personal files, and I can't figure out why. There's nothing wrong with their format; Spotify will just randomly not recognize some stuff, which is annoying.

@antigonerising, give Rdio a shot too - I think its UX is the best of the music apps I've used (maybe Google too, but I haven't used that much) and it has both web and mobile apps (though the desktop app is trash, at least when I checked last), and it easily has the most robust New Releases section if that interests you.

Kurt, thanks, I will check that out! Sounds like the desktop app will be an eventual dealbreaker, but then Spotify's mobile app kinda sucks, so I suppose that will just be a tradeoff. Google Play's website app is GARBAGE. They have an add-on for the Chrome browser which supposedly makes it better, but I generally don't use Chrome, so Google was out of the running almost before it even had a chance to be in it.

I agreed to try the Apple Music 3-month trial, HUGE mistake. If you are a fanatic about tagging your files and artwork yourself, especially if you rip your own music (I know, shocking people in this world still do that) stay away from this nightmare. The moment I accepted, it completely f**ked up my whole library. It changed artwork to completely wrong artists or compilation covers, it took it upon itself to replace 320kbps AAC personal rips into 256kbps files taken from the iTunes Store. Just Google "Apple Music ruined my library" and you'll see other horror stories. Luckily I didn't sync my phone to my computer so it didn't mess up my iTunes Library there, so I just did a master restore on the iPhone and synced a backup before I accepted the Apple Music. No thanks Apple, I'll stick to buying my music.
