Industry Baby is the weakest song Lil Nas X has released so far. It's not bad, more average like.

Regarding the Hot 100 thread, songs can just be radio hits without being the result of payola.

I Love You So is the second worst song on the Hot 100 right now, behind only Broadway Girls, and if it goes top fourty and/or makes the YE Hot 100, it's a shoe-in for a position on my Top 10 Worst Hit Songs of 2022.

His EP was certainly amateur, but it was enough to show me he was a musical genius who would go on to be much more than just a one hit wonder. ATRL called me nuts at the time

Actually it kind of grew on me a little bit but as for singles wise, I find it below Old Town Road, Montero, Thats What I Want, even Panini maybe too.

K. Michelle is the best female R&B artist to debut post-2010. She deserves all the Grammy's that H.E.R. has.

I'd much rather hear a new Taylor Swift than her re-record her first few albums.

The Weeknd is boring. He found a sound that works for radio and he's going to ride it out as long as possible, but he's been essentially doing the same thing since Starboy. Time to mix it up.

I am tired of Easy On Me and it should not have been 10 weeks at number 1.

Secret> Take A Bow.
Take A Bow is a good song. But Secret is far superior!

I actually like Imagine Dragons and think they're overhated...but legends? No. Basically a competent rock band that put out hit songs that aren't particularly original but are often pleasant to hear on radio and have drawn unfair criticism from many...you know, kind of like Nickelback.

That was sort of my point… I think some people hate Imagine Dragons because it is cool to hate them… they are just doing their thing… nothing really offensive about them… so I went the other direction to show how silly it sounds Even though I think Nickelback was over hated… at least I could see the point with the bands cock rock image

I think if any other artist had recorded this song it wouldn’t have even made the Hot 100. This is already a given for pretty much any song. Some artists will chart with a song, others wouldn’t, and is often dependent on who the artists are and at what point they’re at in their careers. It’s not a strike against the song people who use it think it is.

Too Good At Goodbyes is Sam Smiths best single. Don’t get the hate for it at all. It might be boring but it is nice and soothing, better than anything from their first album, and better than Dancing With A Stranger and How Do You Sleep too. Diamonds comes close to being the best but I prefer TGAG.
And before anyone comes and says “but Latch”, yes I prefer Latch more but am doing it from Sams singles and from Sams singles, Too Good At Goodbyes is my favorite.

I explained this theory of mine in another thread but it fits here too. Imagine Dragons gets hate because they've been the only mainstream rock band since 2012, that puts them in a perfect position to recieve backlash for not being "true rock".

Mainstream artists bitching about how unfair streaming services are to them ain't it. Big artists have never made money the kind of money from music sales that people think big artists do. Look at the MC Hammers and TLCs and countless other acts that had huge album/single sales and barely made any money at all. Their gripe isn't with Spotify's payout rate, it's with their label, and it always has been. But you can't publicly fight your label and expect to come out on top.

I’ll say it right now - ABCDEFU is a massive guilty pleasure.

I dislike almost all of the Encanto songs currently charting. Most likely, it's due to a combination of me loathing musicals/showtunes in general (The Greatest Showman was even worse, I'm glad it didn't take off across the pond to the same extent that it did in the UK), and me not liking the movie they're from that much.
I do like WDTAB, but I'm souring on it, and I'll more likely than not dislike it by the time it gets dethroned at #1.
Also, another unpopular opinion, so this post isn't entirely negative: One Right Now isn't that bad. It does have some questionable lyrics (like the 'broke my hand on the same wall' line in the chorus), but outside of that, it's a good enough song, with its main flaw simply being that it didn't meet the high expectations set by After Hours and Hollywood's Bleeding.

It's actually grown on me as well. The line you mentioned is weird but it combines their two artistic styles decently well. It's good for what it is.

Regarding Santana’s 2 big hits in 2000, I think I like Maria Maria more than Smooth now.
