Miley is a caricature of herself I think she is on the joke though. I do think she is playing up the crazy thing to get it out of her system, but then I think she will tone it down with the next proper album (a la the Bedtime Stories era).

Kim and Kanye's respective potato and rice sack couture is absolutely ridiculous.

Miley is sort of like what Gaga was in 2009. She's outlandish, but she knows it's all an act. Her whole schtick seems to be looking at the world for what it really is and not what it looks like, and I think the dichotomy between her image and speech really exemplifies that. The fact that she chooses to look a mess 99% of the time shouldn't erase the fact that she's actually quite educated and, well, just a good person.
So in a way, yes, she is a caricature of herself; but she knows it.

^^ I said that before Kunt. Totally agree. Very Madonna-ish the way she's manipulating people/the media. I wouldn't be surprised if she's a nun 3 years from now.
She's controlling her image. It's so obvious.

Very Madonna-ish the way she's manipulating people/the media. You're not wrong, but "manipulating" makes it sound so bad lol. Or at least, not as respectable. Not sure of a better word to use though. There was something she said in her New York Times interview about realizing her own power. At first I thought she was ego tripping, but the more I read it, the more she seemed self-aware for it. It could've been worded better, maybe, but it's a fair point. What's most impressive to me though is how genuine she appears to be. I'm sure a lot of it is a product of the media assembly line, but unlike, I don't know, Beyoncé or Taylor, it's so much easier to buy what this girl is selling.

Very happy that Bad Blood got Video Of Year award. :) Demi, The Weeknd and Tori Kelly performances were the best! I also loved Iggy Azalea surprise!

Iggy's mic was so low, I hope she uploads her verse somewhere but I doubt it'll happen seems like it was supposed to be another Blurred Lines EMA live remix type of deal. I still rly enjoyed the performance overall tho Both looked hot, and so did Britney!! :o Taylor deserved all the awards as well.

Nicki and Taylor duet, Nicki and Miley feud, Kanye's speech. The type of attention-grabbing VMA people here at Pulse didn't think would happen.

Tori killed, Kanye is the worst, Nicki's ass is ridiculous, Miley is cray, and I'm tired of Taylor.
Why do I subject myself to this every year?

But what exactly is she selling though? I'm sure she's in on the joke as others have stated. I'm just still not entirely sure what the joke is. That the whole point is to do crazy stuff to generate headlines and prove the media will latch onto anything? I mean, Miley's not stupid, but I don't think she's that brilliant either.

I hate to be the one to say it but just because Nicki is black and a rapper does not mean that she has a menacing demeanor about her. I don't believe Miley was scared of her for one second. She couldn't even get her ass up some stairs without assistance, how was she going to run up on somebody?! Nicki bit first and Miley bit right back after her she sub-tweeted about her. Mess. Nicki showed her weakness by performing with Taylor Swift after their little feud. She needs to stop coming for these 115 lb white girls and try to start snatching these black female rappers that have been ripping into her for years.

Overall, I was not impressed by Miley's hosting duties and I am a big fan. Most of her commentary went nowhere and was neither funny or impactful. I DID download her album, however, and look forward to listening to it...under the influence, as it is intended. Can't wait for Demi's performance don't tell your motherUnfortunately, Iggy randomly popped up during my favorite part of the song. I can't think of the last time I saw such a disjointed performance...well, I guess the opening number counts. Speaking of... I just hope they don't invite that tall, lanky person who dances in the front row at every award show. They can leave it at home. and buried. I like it when she slaps her vaj. I mean... What did Miley say? My feet cut out. Oop. He is a TERRIBLE dancer. He's that kid that aces the beginning 8 count in the Beginner's Class and believes he should be in the Master Class. Disagreed. I really enjoyed his performance. He exhibited passion and pure joy for performing which is more than I could say for everyone else last night. Poor kid was clearly overwhelmed by the positive reaction and just his return to stage overall but I even thought the tears were a nice touch, to be honest. Get this primate back in his cage. What kind of racist comment?? I hate that a sober Kanye rant is worse than a Hennessey Kanye rant. He wasn't sober tho...Although, for someone who supposedly smoked some prior to "take the edge off," he seemed extra edgy. He must have smoked the wrong shit. Also, was it just me, or did he write his own introduction? I have never seen/heard such excessive praise, even for a Video Vanguard Award. It went beyond. Yesss Fetty!!! Can you hear the boos in the background? Oh well. I rejoiced. Finally, some people exhibit some good taste and common sense. Sriricha is appropriating white culture. Not the misspelling of Karruche Karrueche. #oop.

Miley deserved to get called out. People defending her didn't even bother to read what she said in the interview, and no, it wasn't taken out of context like Miley's weak ass tried to play it off last night.

You don't need to be in defense of Miley to detect Nicki's tackiness and pettiness (and general lack of professionalism) time and time again. She really does have one of the worst attitudes in music.

Cuz that is what she said. The whole ´´Anaconda wasn't nominated´´ shitfest would have been a great opportunity for Nick to talk about the lack of representation/presence of black female artist on awards shows in general; at first it seemed that it was the point of the whole thing, but it became clear that it was just Nick thinking about Nick, so yeah, Miley was spot on with what she said. Ok you can think that, but what she really said was that Nicki Minaj needed to be more respectable if she wanted to be listened to. Which you apparently don't have an issue with, but it is extremely problematic for a white woman to tell a woman of color that her opinions are less valid because she is angered about a system that devalues her work.

What a fucking nightmare! It was never more evident than last night how pop culture is now interlocked with social media's dictates--itself comandeered by the liberal arts-to-twitter pipeline. Depressing results expected. Feminism, race consciousness, and trans activism are now all a marketing ruse to which frankly everyone is susceptible. Also, the very deliberate provocation or rather rage manipulation done at the hands of the show runners, Miley included, was duly noted. A show designed not only to drive headlines but to produce endless think pieces. Fuck what they're wearing or winning: more importantly, is she racist? Was that sexist? Is he guilty of gender non-conforming erasure? It's what the people want now, they think. And it's not not-true. The truth? Cuz that is what she said. The whole ´´Anaconda wasn't nominated´´ shitfest would have been a great opportunity for Nick to talk about the lack of representation/presence of black female artist on awards shows in general; at first it seemed that it was the point of the whole thing, but it became clear that it was just Nick thinking about Nick, so yeah, Miley was spot on with what she said. You're misinterpreting her criticism as "micoaggressive," I'm afraid. All Mildred really said was Onika was warping a larger valid issue into a petty personal fight about how she was snubbed from a VMA category. Further reading here.

I would have a really big problem if that was the case, but she made it very clear that her issue with the whole thing was Nick being selfish to the point where she was thinking strictly about herself, her own agenda and how SHE could be celebrated. Again, she had the chance to use it as a platform to make her voice and other black artists voices to be heard, but that wasn't the case, at all. The fact that after all this s**t she was there, opening the show with Taylor, just proves how self-centered she was....She was fighting the system from the inside.
