I've got my facepalm images ready if they dare post an article that says anything along the lines of "Cheerleader tops Digital songs for a second week with 290,000 downloads (up 71 percent)".

No wonder she hates America. :) She was blessed with great material this era - will be interesting to see what she does next. Wonder if there will be any radio backlash for her idiot comments. Considering she doesn't have any songs in the Hot 100, I doubt it. Although this doesn't help her reputation as a spoiled diva any.

I'm thinking 7/18 is it for See You Again. I ran the numbers using our current estimated formula, and it was indeed close - somewhere around just a 1000-point difference. With Cheerleader continuing to gain, that should be able to move atop unless either SYA can stop the bleeding for a few days, or Cheerleader slows down. I can't say I'm optimistic that SYA will eke it out yet again. ETA: SYA - 81000 sales, 152M airplay, 14.8M streams. 6750 + 15200 + 16444 = 38394 Cheerleader - 170000 sales, 94M airplay, 12.6M streams. 14167 + 9400 + 14000 = 37567 So, a little over 800 points. I can see the sales gap shrinking some, but Cheerleader will continue to gain on airplay, and probably also streams. So unless something crazy happens*, I'm thinking we'll be looking at a new #1 for this chart. *Feel free to speculate on if Watch Me were to pass them both and take it instead; that came up to just over 35000 points. But considering that's gone the wrong way in sales this week, I don't think it'll pass by just yet - not unless it sees a crazy stream surge. Well, if we will be adding 4-days of sales/airplay and streams, then the points would be See You Again - 40 - 83 - 5.7 = 18,000 points Cheerleader - 120 - 58 - 5.4 = 21,800 points So adding the points from previous week, Cheerleader will be ahead by 3,000 points.

It's great that they try to be as accurate, inclusive as possible, but that makes comparing numbers across even a couple years kind of...moot?

I really hope and pray that with its continued decline and Cheerleader's continued gains SYA doesn't somehow manage to clog up the top spot for a 13th week. Especially considering that Lose Yourself is one of my favorite songs of all time. And I knew I shouldn't have gotten my hopes up when Bad Blood reached #1 :(

At least get somebody respectable like Wale or hell, I'd take Young Thug, but Wiz Khalifa? They might as well had brought in Rick Ross or Kevin McCall.

pretty sure it's been broken approximately 5,246 times after "blurred lines" so nothing really to worry about I'm not sure what are you talking about. Actually there has been no record breaker since Blurred Lines which made an impressive 229 Million audience impressions and Happy later on got close to that (225 Million as I remember) but not enough to dethrone "Lines". I'm sure Blurred Lines is still the record holder for the single tracking week highest impressions, it just seems unfair now because there's no such time in history where any tracking week extends to 11 days and whichever song's high point lands upon that it's gonna be breaking the record!

Too bad songs like Shake It Off, We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together somehow cannot luckily manage their first tracking week of digital sales to happen to be this very week... It's like a shame.. Or I'm sure Taylor Swift can make a single week of 1,000,000 singles sold and fuck Right Round off who made a week of about 640,000 sold..

It's great that they try to be as accurate, inclusive as possible, but that makes comparing numbers across even a couple years kind of...moot? It did not refresh every year okay?? Mariah's We Belong Together held the record for nearly 10 years after leaving a landmark of 212 Million impressions in a single week in 2005.. It remained unchallenged until Blurred lines came along with the forementioned 229 Millions in 2013 and this record is broken literally 0 times as of now.. You people are all exaggerating blindly, saying that it's been broken for like... 5,000 times???? OMG, they do not add stations or something that often ...

I mean...yes, that 5,000+ number was indeed an exaggeration, but there were panel changes or recalibrations mentioned on the following weeks (in recent years): 05/30/1510/25/1408/09/1411/16/1303/30/1312/01/1203/31/12I might be confusing Mediabase VS BDS here, though - I believe it's just Mediabase that does these frequent recalibrations. Also, some of these may not have been "major" recalibrations...but regardless, they've supposedly taken place more than a handful of times over the past few years, so I don't think it's bizarre or incorrect for that to seem frequent to some of us. Any rate, I don't mean to offend anyone who loves tracking AI records. In the not-too-distant past, I was keeping tabs on the "Riptide" "record" on the Hot 100, which I'm sure was totally uninteresting/pointless to many others. Different stuff within the realm of popular-music-charts is bound to attract our individual attention, so whatever brings out your passion, just keep on enjoying it. :)

Fifth Harmony is so close :'( What is the new radio tracking week, again? If it ends tomorrow, it'll be extremely close, and more than likely won't make it next week </3

Did Bent have nice sales or how it jumped 6->1?
Try Again was the first #1 without any points from sales IIRC

Bent jumped 6-1 because the physical single was released that week (it's the same reason why Vertical Horizon went #1 the previous week, and why *NSYNC will go #1 the week after). A lot of songs in 1999/2000 still had their single release dates held back (a practice carried over from the late 90's which caused all those high debuts when airplay-only singles weren't allowed to chart), so there was a lot of weird chart movement because of that.

And then adopted again during the early digital era - I'm glad the days of repressed tracks are behind us. It will be interesting to see how Billboard recalibrates the formula as single sales are bound to slump - especially after Apple Music.
