If anyone can hold off all those Christmas songs it is Adele, right! Two AC stations here have already switched to all-holiday playlists. Adele will shut down many, many people this season, but Santa and his little musical elves will not be one of them lol. Is there anyone AC loves releasing Christmas music this year? That would be Adele's only threat. Maybe Katy Perry's song? Looking at past history: 2011 - entire top 8 was Christmas music (4 from Michael Bublé, 2 from Justin Bieber, 1 from Jim Brickman, and 1 from Matthew West), with the top song being Michael Bublé's "All I Want for Christmas Is You." The #9 song? Adele's "Someone Like You," 1001 spins behind the #1. 2012 - The entire top 8 here was also Christmas music (Rod Stewart, Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Lady Antebellum, Michael Bublé, Train, Barry Manilow, Kelly Clarkson, and Jordin Sparks all held songs in it). The #9 song was "Good Morning Beautiful" by Jim Brickman, 788 spins behind the #1. 2013 - Just the top 4 was Christmas here (Kelly Clarkson, Mary J. Blige, Whitney Wolanin, and Johnny Mathis). #5 was Katy Perry's "Roar," 1042 spins behind the #1. 2014 - Top 7 was Christmas here (Idina Menzel, Kelly Clarkson, Pentatonix, Whitney Wolanin, Ariana Grande, Sam Smith, and Meghan Trainor all staked claim). #8 was Taylor Swift's "Shake It Off," 920 spins behind the #1. I could see "Hello" snagging the #1 just before the freeze sets in, the Katy Perry Christmas song taking it from her within a few weeks, but "Hello" only falling to #3 or #4 during the freeze.
I'm not sure if this was discussed already, but "Hello"'s massive debut also spurred some chart movements of Adele's prior work. "Someone Like You" re-entered in Switzerland, France, Ireland, the UK, and Sweden. It came close to doing so in the US too with its appearance on the Streaming Songs chart. "Rolling in the Deep" and "Set Fire to the Rain" re-entered in Ireland. "Skyfall" re-entered in France and Bulgaria. In fact, in Bulgaria, "Skyfall" remains on the chart for a second week and even increases!

During the Billboard Periscope they basically said this will be THE song of the Holiday and Winter season due to it increasing in Airplay and bridging that gap along with extremely high streaming numbers (it's 2nd week streaming numbers are still higher than the previous record held by Bieber by almost 2:1) and it's downloads just dominating every body else. With the album release next week, which is crazy to fathom, she will be ruling the Hot 100 for a while. She needs to knock this from streaming for a while to help the 2nd single which probably won't have any problem reaching #1 as well. The rollout for this era is perfect. The problem will be if it will have that long term longevity that her last era had. 4 singles in 3 years is hilarious. She also seems more "committed" to the visual aspect this time around which will do wonders for streaming.

308 million views in 20 days. Could she do 500 million in a month? Averaging 12-15 million views/day and 11 days to go until a month (31 days). There's promotion coming up soon too. Just insane! When the album drops/promo kicks in, it'll be interesting to see just how big everything is going to get, can't wait!

This already feels like Adele's signature song and biggest hit. Considering it's only 2.5 weeks old and her other hits are from the biggest album of the past 15 years, all I can say is holy shit.

Amazing success for Adele with this song and I'm very happy. In my opinion it's her best song. "Hello" can completely move your emotions, while listening it. Just amazing.

It is zoooming up the AC charts! Stranger words have perhaps never been typed. ONLY she could make a song "zoom" up that chart (barring the annual Holiday new releases). RIGHT!?

i don't think those Lady Gaga stats will ever be duplicated. She had to have had a week long deal. But that's awesome tho, so not talking s**t. Just wondering when the next huge superstar is going to appear. That was an insane week for sure. Gaga was CHR's darling at the time. She could do no wrong with them. As huge and successful as Adele was last era, I still wouldn't really call her a "CHR darling." Of course they played the 21 singles a lot because of their immense popularity, but that is probably the only reason why. The people made the era huge, radio just had to go along with it. Her songs tend not to traditionally mesh with the format very well in all honesty. Which makes their performances on the format very impressive no doubt.

Yeah, the AC Chart is super slow but Adele entered the Billboard AC Chart at #20 then moved to #9 and this week to #4. For THAT chart that is very fast. Taylor Swift does great at AC radio and she is at #5 with her WD. Adele jumped over Taylor and that is really hard to do. Taylor's Style is still in the top 10 and has been on the AC chart for 39 weeks. I bet Hello is on there for a year!

I think there is a chance for Adele to surpass the 19,000 spin mark on CHR if those updates continue to be massive.

Nah, I reckon she'll plateau before that. But then she might just hover around the same spin mark for ages - I'm reminded of 'Bleeding Love' by Leona Lewis, that topped out when the spin threshold was around 10k for #1, and it just sat around that level of airplay for like two months during its 10(?)-week run at #1.

OMG this is almost making Blurred Lines daily updates look weak! lol. How on earth is this not a VERY strong contender to (at the min.) come very, very close to being the all time radio played song. Dunno how this won't easily beat WBT even if she doesnt beat BL, she most likely can say she'll have the highest played song for a female. As much as I'd love her to get 17 weeks, far as the Hot 100..correct me if I'm wrong but looks like this pulling a See You Again- meteoric rise but may peak too soon (radio, sales etc..) to get much more than 10 weeks. However, it's Adele- not Wiz Kalifa lol. Ain't no way Adele is gonna drop anytime soon. Long as there's no major competition and its ADELE, wouldn't at all be surprised if she ultimately ends up w/ enough of a mega cushion to linger at #1 for several weeks even after it peaks on all formats, sales etc...The 'only' strongest possibility is Adele replacing herself. Since it got to #1 so quickly, why on earth would they release anything anytime soon since this is still brand new and if they see major possible records being broken, would would they wanna take that risk. Her dream team are possibly the best in the biz now, sucking everybody dry and can't see them fcking up esp. when possible new records are involved.

It's kind of a moot comparison because Spotify in 2015 is a completely different beast from Spotify in 2011-2012 but considering it hasn't even been 3 weeks and RITD/SKY/SFTTR were beyond massive, this is still impressive. Below are Adele's top tracks on Spotify.
1 Rolling in the Deep - 186 million 2 Someone Like You - 150 million 3 Hello - 120 million 4 Make You Feel My Love - 91 million 5 Set Fire to the Rain - 76 million 6 Turning Tables - 40 million 7 One and Only - 33 million 8 Rumour Has It - 32 million 9 Don't You Remember - 23 million 10 Lovesong - 22 million

It seems that Xavier Dolan liked her so much that now they are in talks for Adele make her debut on his next film (it seems it will be a small role). It seems that she said on Kiss FM “I’m sure I’ll get some flak for this, but I actually would like to act after working with Xavier.”

How can a single song be played 700 times a day? It's absolutely insane and overkill.
Not just in this case, but it's not cool for any song in general.

I guess you mean 700 more times in a single day, 'cause the #1 song on pop in the current climate tends to be played around 2500~ a day (to go with a 7-day total around 17500+).
