In The Night was confirmed as a single? I've heard talk of another semi-simultaneous pair of singles... one for urban, one for pop.

Not sure, but if it's true, I'm sure we'll find out soon enough! Acquainted seems like a likely choice.

According to his Rolling Stone cover story, In the Night is the next single, but he doesn't really need a second "urban" single. His music can satisfy both formats (still don't know why CFMF wasn't promoted to urban, stylistically it wasn't very different from his other songs).

Predictions for the week:
Rank - Song - Sales - Airplay - Streaming = Points
1 - Hello - 500 - 130 - 35.0 = 93,600 2 - Hotline Bling - 100 - 140 - 25.0 = 50,100 3 - Sorry - 135 - 55 - 19.0 = 37,900 4 - The Hills - 55 - 130 - 17.0 = 36,500 5 - What Do You Mean - 65 - 105 - 14.0 = 31,500 6 - Stitches - 60 - 125 - 10.0 = 28,600
The only reversal that could happen is 3<->4, if The Hills increases in streaming for some reason.

The number of HB's airplay is bigger than Hello? Hotline Bling was 30m AI over Hello in the update above

His music can satisfy both formats (still don't know why CFMF wasn't promoted to urban, stylistically it wasn't very different from his other songs). I agree. I don't even know why In The Night is a single because loads of other tracks from the album have been doing better. My theory is that his label want to send something more commercial to pop radio after The Hills, but I don't think it's necessary. Can't Feel My Face did get top 50 on urban for a bit, but if they'd sent it for adds it could've got extra weeks at #1, because there were quite a few weeks where Can't Feel My Face was only slightly behind Cheerleader, and an extra 10 million AI (and resulting extra streaming from the radio exposure) could've been enough to get to #1 on 1 or more of those weeks.

They'll do In The Night for chr because it's the same MJ ripoff sound that worked for CFMF. Personally I find those tracks to be the worst on the album

Adele will be #1 in less than 10 days. Exciting I wonder if Drake will be able to sneak in a day before Adele gets to the top or if he's about to have another #1 snatched from him in the blink of an eye :kii:

If it gets pushed to pop radio then there's a chance, yes.
EDIT: Oooh, and it's being performed on SNL this weekend I think, which might also help!

Speaking of Lorde, haven't heard much about her in a while lol, wonder when we're gonna get new stuff from her. "Magnets" with Disclosure says hi. Right, I forgot about that. I guess because it hasn't done so well yet and I personally didn't like the song, it didn't register. Also, Adele's updates are really astounding. I don't think we've seen 6-7 mil+ updates for a non-debut week, have we?

Like I said in the Adele post 8*o at that friggin update!! Songs already been out a few weeks so this is all authentic, true radio adoration. Cannot remember the last time ANYone got a 7+ million update after 2 weeks lol! Just no way you get in/around that update then 'just' start to flat-line. The execution/timing of this is def. one of the best in recent memory. They positively knew what they were doing. Far as I know, there's no major competition coming up anytime soon. Only Justin Beiber and Adele is crushing him. If it wasn't for her, this would be his zenith era. I'm not a fan of his in any way shape or form but this is by far the most consistent he's ever been and for whatever the reason the GP is loving him and his music more than ever. Dunno..unless a mega name drops something Beyonce style or whatever, for now that's the only thing I can of replacing Adele is Adele. Just dunno why they'd even consider anything else new until this clearly peaks on radio, sales and esp. the Hot 100. The song itself is gonna easily carry the album throughout the holiday season and well into the new year. Only creates the need if they wait. The one thing her record company should know is people are def. willing to plus it makes it more an event if single #2 doesn't even get talked about for a while, let alone clips or released until Hello starts falling across the board.

I really don't know why Magnets hasn't been pushed more. I'm sure radio is ready for another Lorde song and this is certainly much poppier/radio-friendly than "Yellow Flicker Beat" was.

There's no need to announce anything regarding a second single from Adele until after New Years at the very least. She'll be dominating headlines with other stuff up until then anyway, save a single announcement for later.
