I did not see that coming. I was pretty sure that Hello was gonna hold off Sorry. But congrats Justin!!! He is on fire this era. Love Yourself definitely is a contender for #1 so this album could easily end up yielding 3 number one singles. Talk about a comeback!!

Wtf.. The Hills is taking on #11 for its fifth week there.. And he's blocked by.. Meghan Trainor.. That's like, imo the best artist on the chart is stopped by whatever "artist" Meghan Trainor is

^What about Justin is a comeback? It's not like he had failed majorly with his last release?
And congrats to him, he's definitely on a great run.

Anyone else thinks that Justin Bieber's music is just depressing and painful? It would be such a breeze if Stressed Out can keep Love Youself away from the top. And I think Twenty One Pilot lead singer looks better than Justin.

So what this means:
'Sorry' ties the record for longest wait at #2 before reaching #1 (8 weeks) The record for most weeks at #2 without hitting #1 remains at 10 for Foreigner/Missy Elliot 'What Do You Mean' slides three to #8 marking an end to 3 in the top 5

Justin still had many fans and a following prior to Purpose, but many people (including myself) thought that all of his past antics turned away people and that he wouldn't find huge success again in music. So far he has definitely proved everyone wrong with a very solid album and the success he is having proves that. This era has made me a fan and his fanbase has definitely increased the past many months.

Purpose is the First JB album i own.
He might have lost a few fans from his earlier days but gained quite a few casual ones.
When the Music is good, the people will come.

At this point it's "Will JB get 4 #1 singles off of this album" because Love Yourself is nearly a lock in a few weeks.. and hopefully Stressed Out afterward.

Not bad for Out of the Woods at #46! On the contrary, I see it as a major loss in her momentum with the album. All the video launches prior have led to some pretty big positions, and even the radio leadup in the half-week gets her enough buzz to go somewhere: Shake it OffNo buzz week (surprise launch) #1 debut Blank SpaceDigital promo single #18 launch #13 buzz week #1 upon full week of video StyleAlbum cut #60 launch 7 weeks of buzz due to radio latching on to single early #18 buzz week #10 upon full week of video Bad Blood
Album cut #80 launch 1 re-entry (#78) amid buzz about the third single, notably higher than Style (the actual single, which did #84) #53 buzz week (re-entry) #1 upon full week of video Wildest DreamsAlbum cut #76 launch #15 re-entry with 5 days of video and radio buzz #12 upon full week of video Out of the WoodsDigital promo single #18 launch No buzz week #46 upon full week of video Welcome to New YorkDigital promo single #48 launch Not a single, but it still only marginally did worse on its major week than Out of the Woods' big push This isn't just a decline, it's an exponential decline, and for some reason, I didn't think that would be the case.

^ I see and appreciate how your stats are backing up what you're saying on paper, but I just don't see it that way. Of course there's a loss of momentum this deep into a huge-selling album, and considering the kind of launch it had (the time of year and the launching vehicle) it's a nice start (re-entry in this case).
Comparing the re-entry of a 6th single to a promo single that was released before the album when everyone was super thirsty for new music from her isn't really a fair analysis, imo.

Not many sixth singles (that aren't from a re-release) do well, especially these days. Heck, most acts don't get a sixth single. Additionally, "Out of the Woods" is already Gold, no? It was always going to be an uphill battle because people have been buying it and listening to it for well over a year. Think of how poorly "Rumor Has It" did compared to the first 3 singles from 21, and that was only a 4th single.

Maybe in a media sense, but we didn't really know if that was true commercially. Those two aren't the same thing. If they were, Beyonce would have sold a lot more albums and singles than she has to this point.

yeah, do we really live in this new world where media attention/reputation and commercial/chart success are synonymous? i'm not buying the use of the word "comeback", at least not relative to other legit commercially successful comebacks.
To be clear, I personally define a comeback as one who experiences commercial success after being absent from the charts for a long time (relative to their own career, obviously).... whether because they were taking a break or because they just weren't finding success with the projects being released. For Justin, I feel it was more just him maturing a bit - and having his new album coincide with that and having it do so well kinda of blurred the lines a bit. The reality remains, he's not had a commercially unsuccessful era (despite having a mixtape type era in there), and it's hasn't been a long time between projects.

The "BB" and "WD" videos also had the advantage of premiering during award shows (not to mention the insane hype of the former of course) to give them those boosts, and "OOTW" didn't have that.

Does anyone know anything about what JB might be considering as a next single. I hope it's "I'll Show You"

Ew, I knew it was going to happen, but it doesn't make it any easier to see Bieber get another #1 song, ew. Stressed Out to knock him off his perch and be a surprise #1 hit in the next 2/3 weeks please.

So happy that Sorry is #1! One of my favourite songs of 2015. I was bored of Adele being #1. Hopefully Bieber can soon join that list of artists who have replaced themselves at #1.

•Jumpman is trying to get to The Top 10.
•Post Malone is creeping up.
•That IKWYDLS song is great.
