Exactly, so I think if you look at video streaming in 2009/2010, and imagine it was included in the charts at the time, I'm betting that you'd see at least Bad Romance and Telephone hitting #1 (I mean, they were #2 and #3 so that's not a huge stretch).

Gaga is probably the most talented artist now, she just has to do the right thing to get a comeback or whatever it is, like JB. The new album will be crucial and it is what I'm most looking forward, this year.

Meghan Trainor is at #10 for the 5th week in a row & 6th overall. The last song to spend six CONSECUTIVE weeks at #10 was Bed Of Roses by Bon Jovi on 1993

yea, it's pretty well known that she is. It could change, of course. But I think she has only 1 song in the Top 60 Spotify all-time. her last big hit, Applause, has 232M views on youtube. Unconditionally has 230M and This Is How We Do has 422M. her biggest hit in the YouTube era, Bad Romance, has 650M, but that's the highest one she's got by far. Of course things could change. But that "I Want Your Love" video didn't do too well either. Like 10M or so. Very inaccurate representation. First of all, The Fame and Born this Way eras were over or almost over before Spotify was even released in the U.S. in late 2011. Most of her success was from 2008-early 2011, and because streaming growth has been exponential since then, it's understandable that her numbers would be lower, though 650M for BR is a pretty respectable # for a video released in 2009. I bet the biggest hits from then have comparable numbers. Edit: I know what I said was basically said before, but just wanted to stress the point in my own words.

Then what about Applause? I think it was one of her best peaks on the radio, but not a big hit on sales and streaming. ARTPOP era was her weakest.

Her first 6 hits all hit #1 and she had a seventh after that. It did well but at that point she wasn't the stream queen obviously. Her videos in 2009-10 were events. Even if they didn't rack up billions of views over time, all one would need to impact the Hot 100 is a week's worth of high viewing numbers and I'd bet my right hand she had that in the bag.

That's why I always go by position rather than numbers like those because it puts it into context.

Yeah, it only took like 115m AI to top the overall Mediabase airplay chart in 2009, but nowadays it takes like 190m AI. It's not exactly a fair comparison.

I don't think Bad Romance or Telephone would've ever got #1. Tik Tok, Empire State of Mind, Rude Boy and Nothin' On You would have got big streaming too, and also all those artists, except MAYBE Rihanna, were a lot less global than 2009/2010 Lady Gaga. You can't look at Youtube views to determine how big someone would be in US streaming. If someone in the future did that they'd be saying Waka Waka and Bailando were massive US streaming hits, while Trap Queen wasn't. In reality I'm sure they got good US streaming, but they get massive Youtube views because they're EXTREMELY global, and the same can be said of Lady Gaga's first album.

Yeah, uh, I'm not buying this argument. Gaga was huge online at her peak - "Bad Romance" was the most viewed music video of all time on YouTube, and she was the first artist to hit a billion views there. That was big news at the time.
She has totally fallen out of favor with younger audiences over the years though, so it's no surprise that her Spotify numbers are low. She will have to crank out some really great songs to bounce back. She has tried hard to rebrand herself as an old school singing/performance act, though, so I'm not sure how she will approach this comeback record. It will be interesting to see.
