It's gonna be so interesting if PILLOWTALK debuts at No.1. Not only it's gonna have a dramatic fall on its second week, but also it has a chance to claim the weakest no.1 hit of this decade (beat Hold It Against Me which debuted atop as well but only stayed 5 weeks in top 10. PILLOWTALK may leave the top 10 very very soon)

I believe the shortest top-10-charting #1s were both American Idol songs (Taylor Hicks - Do I Make You Proud and Fantasia - I Believe) which spent 2 weeks in the top 10. I'm not sure it'll be gone that quickly but I wonder how PILLOWTALK will compare.

I'm still not entirely convinced that Zayn will debut at #1 this week. I'm not saying it won't happen, I'm just saying that I still feel it could go either way this week. Upon first listen, Pillowtalk doesn't appeal to me much so I'm rooting for Love Yourself, but whatever happens happens. In any case, even if it is #1 this week, it'll more than likely be out of the top spot the following week as it's already down to #5 on iTunes. Also I just realized that the Grammys won't have as big of an impact on songs in a single given week now that the sales/streaming tracking week has been shifted. Damn lol Why do you think it could go either way? The Grammys will still impact in one week. The sales week will only be 2 days in when they air. Streams will be ending just after the Grammys end, so if streams increase because of a performance (is that standard?) most of the impact will still be in the same chart week as sales. Just FYI - Grammys air on a Monday rather than Sunday this year. And Streaming and Sales both track from Friday to Thursday, while radio is Monday-Sunday.

I forgot about the switch to Monday, but regardless in this age of streams and downloads, impact is felt immediately more than ever. A few hours on Monday night and then 3 full days of impact will be felt.

So it will need fairly high streaming (14M+) to stay on the chart. It is still #1 on Spotify though, so it is possible. It should end up in #8-12 range.

(So, to set this straight: because the airing is Feb. 15, 4 days worth of sales and streaming tracking will fall on the 2/27 chart (and the first few hours will account for at least 1/3, maybe 1/2 of boosted activity). 3 days, if there is still a boost, fall on the 3/5 chart.) Shouldn't it be 3/5 chart and 3/12 chart respectively? Next chart will be 2/20 chart which will count sales for Jan29-Feb4. 2/27 chart will count sales from Feb5-Feb11.

Any chance for Roses to still make top 5 or is that song done now? I'm afraid it's done..... for the next 4 weeks, these songs will definitely be ahead of it in points: 1. Love Yourself 2. Stressed Out 3. Sorry 4. My House 5. Work Also Me, Myself & I should also overtake it. Hello will be ahead for at least 2 more weeks, and by the time it goes below Roses, WWWY will climb past it.

I guess it will come down to streaming...... Anyway first four songs will definitely be above and even if one of the two - Work or MMI stay ahead of it, it will not be able to reach Top-5.

BTW what do you guys think about the potential of "Light It Up"? It is already turning out to be a success globally. Can it catch on in US like "Lean On" did?

Yeah I think it can manage to become at least a minor hit in the US, but I doubt it can come close to the blowout of Lean On. I really like it though.

International EDM hits is usually hit or miss in the US and I think Light It Up will probably peak somewhere around top 20 in Hot 100. Still crossing my finger I Took A Pill In Ibiza and Middle will at least be Roses sized hit.

Okay..... I was hoping it might reach Top-10, but looks like it will be difficult.
I actually like it more than "Lean On".....

Promo (planned or unexpected) could always change things and make certain peaks possible for Roses, or any song.

I don't think Light It Up will do as well as Powerful Light It Up is already a bigger hit than Powerful globally. On the worldwide cumulative sales total chart, Powerful is at #801 and barely gaining any points, while Light It Up is already at #874 and will surpass Powerful within a week.

I don't think Light It Up will do as well as Powerful Powerful is a flop Exactly ;) I can't see it being a hit in the U.S., especially not top 20 on the Hot 100, if Powerful couldn't. But we'll wait and see, it is too early to say for definite :)

Promo (planned or unexpected) could always change things and make certain peaks possible for Roses, or any song. I don't think Roses had ever got any promo outside radio and some iTunes promo. The whole mashup with Love Yourself probably helped it though. I don't think it has either - yet. Which is why I mentioned it. It could happen.

EDIT: Googled, found they performed on The Tonight Show and SNL.
