I know that all the circumstances led it to number one and two weeks ago he wouldn´t have been on top of the charts, but all these changes in Hot 100 formula has made the chart so much more exciting. But what a quality song and vocal performance so he deserves all of it!

92. History (Re-Entry) 78. We Don't Talk Anymore (Debut) 54. Perfect (LW: 43) 49. Out of the Woods (LW: 44, down streaming, gains sales and radio) 43. 7 Years (LW: 57) 39. Down in the DM (LW: 33) 29. When We Were Young (LW: 29) 17. One Call Away (LW: 22) 15. Same Old Love (LW: 8)
13. Hands to Myself (LW: 7)10. Me, Myself, & I (LW: 12) 9. Roses (LW: 6, gaining) 8. My House (LW: 5) 7. Work (LW: 9, selling better than last week, #3 digital) 6. Summer Sixteen (Debut, 16th Top 10, #2 digital (267,000; maybe gaffe?), ~2 million streaming) 5. Hello (LW: 4) 4. Stressed Out (LW: 3, gaining) 3. Sorry (LW: 2) 2. Love Yourself (LW: 1) 1. Pillowtalk (Debut, Indeed solo who peaked above his group, #1 Digital (267,000) and Streaming (>22,000,000), fourth biggest debut) Well, this week will be very interesting. I expect In The Night to be #11. I predicted ITN at #11, but I wasn't too sure because of HTM. Now that HTM is #13, I am pretty confident with my ITN prediction. Also, for the top 10, I only got #3 and #4 wrong.

Next week will be a crazy week in the top 10.
Stressed Out's getting closer to #1. My House is having huge gains and is looking at a jump to the top 3. PILLOWTALK could take a 4+ position drop. Work and Summer Sixteen are looking to leave the top 10. Adventure Of A Lifetime is looking to enter the top 10.
Dang.

What about When We Were Young? Look for a nice boost from streaming on next week's chart (for the current tracking period which ends this Thursday). And then an even bigger boost the following week, which will include the Grammy performance effect and possibly the video.

Well Drake, you done fucked up again. You could've had that #1 easy if you had just released the song to streaming and had a video. Worst rollout ever.
Anyways, congrats to Zayn. Whether or not the single/album flops later, he did manage to get a #1 hit out of it.

Well Drake, you done f**ked up again. You could've had that #1 easy if you had just released the song to streaming and had a video. Worst rollout ever. Anyways, congrats to Zayn. Whether or not the single/album flops later, he did manage to get a #1 hit out of it. I don't think it was going to hit #1 anyway.

Summer Sixteen isn't very commercial sounding; I doubt it would've gone #1.

Whether or not the single/album flops later, he did manage to get a #1 hit out of it. He probably didn't even need a music video. An audio video on his VEVO channel and a Spotify release would've been good enough for a #1

It's great to see some turnover and excitement again! Last year was painfully slow.

What about "Formation" for next week? No iTunes, no streaming except for Tidal and YouTube, right?

What about "Formation" for next week? No iTunes, no streaming except for Tidal and YouTube, right? This is really weird. It's like no one knows how to properly release a song anymore. I mean seriously. ZAYN was smart and got a #1 debut from a proper release. Drake, Rihanna, and Beyonce all screwed theirselves out of #1's.

Actually, I believe those artists are proof positive that money always trumps Billboard chart placement. Why would these established artists give up cold hard cash to try to play Billboard's ever-changing formula games?

She has stake in Tidal. So does Rihanna.

True. But, what is Beyonce trying to accomplish without iTunes? She has stake in Tidal. So does Rihanna. I don't understand this. Beyonce put the song out for FREE on Tidal. How does that contribute to money? (obviously I cared so little about Tidal to even know)

It increases exposure for Tidal. With each download, an offer is given for a 3 month trial of Tidal which ties a credit card, so if you're unscrupulous or just like the service, Tidal can turn those free downloaders into subscribers.

Yeah, it might not be about #1's or $$$ tied to this song at all. If you already have a bazillion dollars in your portfolio, it may be about exposure for yourself or for whatever interests you, or in the case of Beyoncé, promoting a political message. Chart stats and #1's on Billboard suddenly become secondary.
