^yet another tricky thing for Check It Out, as per wikipedia: "It appears on Minaj's debut album, Pink Friday,[2] though it was not released in promotion of the album." And this brings up other issues regardless of the 6th single discussion -- for example, when a song is previously released but included on a later album, do you count it? One notable example I always think of: On Madonna's "American Life" album, do you count "Die Another Day" as a single from it? It came off the Bond soundtrack but was included on the album, and it was deliberately included as part of the flow of tracks rather than as a "bonus cut." I bring that one up because if you DO count it, that means every studio Madonna album from 1983-2012 had at least one top ten single. If you don't count it, you chop a decade off that streak. I have always thought of this too, and there are countless other examples: Monica's For You I Will - The Boy is Mine album The Bee Gee's You Should Be Dancing - Sat Night Fever soundtrack (the above two singles actually came out a year before the album) George Michael's I Want Your Sex - Faith Destiny's Child's Independent Women - Survivor and just this past year, the Weeknd's Earned It - Beauty Behind the Madness It's hard to say, but I would say that regardless of how much earlier the single comes out before the album, it should count if it was planned to be on the upcoming album. If it isn't planned, and they just tack it on later to increase sales or whatever, maybe not so much, but technically it should count because it is on the album and was at some time released as a single, but with the special caveat that it wasn't originally planned to be as part of the set and not promoted with and released around the same time as the album. Regarding the sixth single issue, it is funny how the last, or later singles from an album can often tank and do much worse than their predecessors. This is especially interesting to see when many singles are released from an album, it's like there's all of a sudden this burst of fatigue that sets in. An extreme example that comes to mind is Fergie's The Dutchess, where she had five top five singles, and the sixth, Finally, didn't even make the Hot 100.

Here's something interesting that will be a chart first if indeed "Work" reaches number one---Rihanna will become the first act to collect TWO number one collaborations with TWO separate artists. Only two pairings have reached the top twice so far.
JENNIFER LOPEZ/JA RULE
2001 I'm Real 2002 Ain't It Funny
RIHANNA/EMINEM
2010 Love The Way You Lie 2013 The Monster
RIHANNA/DRAKE
2010 What's My Name 2016 Work
If you want to include all the stars who contributed solo vocals on USA FOR AFRICA'S "We Are The World" (1985), you can add two more pairings.
DIANA ROSS/LIONEL RICHIE
1981 Endless Love
DIONNE WARWICK/STEVIE WONDER
1986 That's What Friends Are For (also featuring Elton John and Gladys Knight)
(NOTE: This list does not include acts such as SIMON & GARFUNKEL and DARYL HALL & JOHN OATES, who did chart separately solo acts, but were also considered regular duos.)

* I think Love Yourself should remain #1 this week, though it is not entirely safe. * If Work can get 2M+ more streams, then it might get that #1! If it gets a bit less, it might rank #3. But #2 is the most probable as of now. * PILLOWTALK may overtake Hello this week, thanks to still very impressive streaming. * #10 should be close between HTM and CBTO, but I would bet on the former.

Work got 22M streaming without a music video, and Stressed Out is like... 13.5m with a good video

On that note Twenty One Pilots' label is aware that there's something called billboard hot 100 and they're gonna miss their perhaps the only chance to hit no.1 by not putting it on 0.69 and no remix / viral video, right? Lmao Stressed Out will not make it to #1. I predict that when SO passes LY, Work or WWWY will take #1 on that same week (unless Work or WWWY manages to gain faster than I thought, which would result in Work or WWWY being #1 a week or two earlier). Hey WWWY has barely scratched top 20 and its radio is almost peaked, and digital doesn't have much potential to watch, and streaming... just hope that its upcoming video (if there is one) is not as dull as countless other examples

Her label is aware of the new tracking week, right? Lmfao They are but they don't care. Rihanna rarely releases a video or single at the beginning of a tracking week.

MM&I has a pretty good lead for that #8 spot. Wow. Also, I didn't expect Work to possibly pass Stressed Out this week. I mean it doesn't have a music video. But I guess those #Rihanna channels with the whole audio of "Work" do help that. But just, wow. Stressed Out has almost no chance of reaching #1 now. When Work gets a video, the only thing that could pass Work is WWWY. I mean, Adele just gets worshiped in the world of pop music, so she shouldn't have an problem with reaching at least #2. That's if Adele doesn't wait too long for this video.

Does All I Ask have enough sales to enter the chart? At least at the bottom? It doesn't have streaming or radio, so I'm not really sure. I'd say it does, but probably not higher than 80-85. Can I get confirmation from @broccoli ? If it sells around 40k it has a shot at entering the bottom tier of the H100.

Without the video, I can't see it top ten, and unless the video is great, I can't see CHR turning around Yeah, if there is a video and they release it before radio totally bails - and it's good - I think it could push the song to - or close to - #1. I think at least a top 10 would be a sure thing. I've lost some confidence in there being a video at this point, but given their schizo promotion during this single's era, it still could happen. I really just want to see a visual for the song!

7. SHAWN MENDES - Stitches: 104.321 (+0.584) ▲ This is so crazy!! Stitches is still alive!! Crazy indeed. I'm interested to see what the future holds for him. Will he ever be able to outdo - or even match - the success of Stitches? The relatively lackluster response to IKWYDLS isn't a very good gauge because it's a duet, and many duets get sketchy reception at radio for whatever reason(s).

Do the Chris Brown/Usher/Zayn remix views count for Back To Sleep's streaming? (Sorry, I'm not an expert. I was just wondering because that's not the original song playing in the videos.)

Has there been any info. or rumors about whether a video has even been or is being filmed for WWWY? If they haven't even started filming one yet, I couldn't see it coming out until at least mid-March, by which time it will surely be too late.

Do you think the single should be counted even if it was meant to promote something else before the album was released (or even planned sometimes)? If we do, then something like Mariah's greatest hits would be the album with the most #1 singles, and not Bad anymore.

Radio was so slow to warm up to Stitches, now it doesn't seem to want to let go

I'm thinking if Adele does another video it will be for her third single. WWWY is just coasting and will probably fade in a few weeks.

For what it's worth, there's also something to be said about albums that sell 5 million copies vs. albums that don't. Especially when it comes down to any singles after, say, #4. Taylor manages to have hit singles and sell between 4 and 7 million copies of an album... whereas Katy has had more singles success while selling fewer albums (in general). Teenage Dream sold well in the US with 3m - but its an interesting specimen when we look at other A-list albums with similar singles success. There's this mysterious phenomenon that makes some acts singles artists, some album artists, and some both. But Wildest Dreams was a hit, and it's not like a huge number of people bought her album in the timeframe between single #5 and single #6 to justify OOTW underperforming.

Some sources have started distinguishing records in terms of being the lead artist, and to that end Rihanna has a ways to go to catch Mariah. Even if "Work" hits #1, that would 'only' put her at 11 #1s as a lead artist.

Right, Wildest Dreams clearly connected with more of the public than Out of the Woods...fans would go on about OotW being this transcendent experience and one of Taylor's best songs ever, and I'm going A sixth single does have era fatigue and album sales to compete against but some songs will go over better than others.
