But Wildest Dreams was a hit, and it's not like a huge number of people bought her album in the timeframe between single #5 and single #6 to justify OOTW underperforming. Right, Wildest Dreams clearly connected with more of the public than Out of the Woods...fans would go on about OotW being this transcendent experience and one of Taylor's best songs ever, and I'm going A sixth single does have era fatigue and album sales to compete against but some songs will go over better than others. She posted yesterday that New Romantics will be the next single. Probably the last one. But I was thinking Wildest Dreams was the last since she released it.

Yeah considering "WD" has stayed ahead of "OOTW" in most measures, it shows that it's more about people not feeling "OOTW" than it being a 6th single (i.e. if fatigue had set in, then "WD" should have fallen hard). Personally "OOTW" is easily one of my favorite Swift songs ever, but it's clear to me it hasn't been received well in a general sense.

Some sources have started distinguishing records in terms of being the lead artist, and to that end Rihanna has a ways to go to catch Mariah. Even if "Work" hits #1, that would 'only' put her at 11 #1s as a lead artist. Billboard doesn't so she'll have 14 :)

Billboard has long given fewer chart points in things like "Hot 100 Artist of the Year" to a featured act, so they have distinguished between lead artist and a featured artist for years. Apart from that they have made distinctions between a lead artist and a featured artist when mentioning other chart records/milestones. Some examples:

New Romantics will most likely be a top 5 for her. Vary radio friendly and if she puts out a video streaming shouldn't be an issue.

Anyway, why would she release 7 singles in one single album without a re-release? Are there a lot of precedents?

Anyway, why would she release 7 singles in one single album without a re-release? Are there a lot of precedents? Janet Jackson - Rhythm Nation 1814 Michael Jackson - Thriller Bruce Springsteen - Born In the USA They were all original albums that had 7 singles - all of which reached the top 10. Michael Jackson - Bad also had 7 singles. One of them peaked outside the top 10 at #11. Not too shabby, but painful!!!

Janet Jackson - Rhythm Nation 1814 Michael Jackson - Bad Bruce Springsteen - Born In the USA They all had 7 top 10 singles. Such a shame that OUT OF THE WOODS didn't debut in the top 10... Thanks to the pre-order reduction (and of course the facepalm video that's just so much fun to watch her running!), it peaked at #18 once and for all...

Yeah, the OOTW video had a lot of potential but failed to have a durable plot for repeated viewings. It should/could have been a mini-movie type video. A battle sequence, more characters, etc. Well shot, but too under developed. It was halfway there.

I think Shake It Off and Bad Blood are my least favorite. I get their appeal - they aren't bad - but meh. They are my least favorite lyrically, by far. Bad Blood is the worst, if I must say. I don't like the chorus at all - nor the sing-songy verses.

My opinion:
Great: Shake It Off Style Wildest Dreams New Romantics Bad Blood
Good: Out Of The Woods
Great but burned out: Blank Space
I agree with THINKING BOUT YOU about the Bad Blood video being the most badass of them all. It's what helped get the song to #1 on the Hot 100 (as well as my personal chart). I rarely watch music videos more than once but I couldn't resist with Bad Blood lol

I'm not a New Romantics fan. It's annoying to me. I'd be way more in favor of All You Had To Do Was Stay, I Wish You Would, How You Get the Girl, or even Clean (which I LOVE). I'm an Imogen fan of many years. But yeah... I know NR is a big fan favorite for whatever reason - but I'm on the fan favorite team of OOTW by FAR over NR.

So... it's easy to say LY will be #1 again come Monday, but does the race look like next week? Any early predictions?

I love Wonderland (the song, though I quite like the amusement park as well)! I would've been very happy with that as the 7th single. So... it's easy to say LY will be #1 again come Monday, but does the race look like next week? Any early predictions? I think Work will be #3 (maybe #2) this week with a high probability to be #1 on the 3/12 issue (unless streaming takes a plunge this week)

By the way, New Romantics will have a video and it won't be like Red or Sparks Fly. The director tweeted about it...
