I'm all for her doing her thing these days and not to say it's a bad song, but if Work can go to #1, imagine if she integrated more of the pop edge to some singles again. The H100 #1s record would/will likely be broken. Based on Work's success, she's fully capable of achieving #1 without the pop-leaning songs, I'm just saying... it could be a blowout if she recorded some more pop/dance bangers. I'm not sure about #1 potential for the other tracks on this album... but I'd never say never. I love seeing records broken. She's coming for you John, Paul, George and Ringo. 20+ #1s by 2020. GO! I'd rather her make music that she will actually enjoy performing in the future. It's clear from last year's interviews that there are lots of her biggest hits that she doesn't enjoy performing anymore because they're not her. I think she'll have no issue reaching Mariah within the next five years, regardless. I agree I think in the next decade she should be able to reach that. People put too much stock on just numbers. What was impressive about Mariah and her #1s is that her songs weren't bullshit ass hits like flo rida. She made for the most classics that to this day are respected. Most people can't remember the #1 song from last year much alone 25 or 20 or 15 years and for the people to still remember Mariah's greatest hits and respect her for it is what I hope Rihanna can accomplish :)

7. SHAWN MENDES - Stitches: 105.625 (+1.304***) Maybe Stitches will survive the new recurrent rule for weeks, and become the longest stay single since Uptown Funk with 53+ weeks.

I just realized that Lush Life by Zara Larsson is in the top 40 of USA Spotify and top 30 of Canadian Spotify. I know the single was just released in the UK a few weeks ago and is in the top ten there. Is that why the song is so high in the Spotify charts in Canada and USA? Because IIRC it was on the Hot 100 Bubbling Under chart last year and failed to enter the Hot 100 (such a shame IMO because I really like the song) so is this rebound on Canadian and USA Spotify a result of its current success in the UK?

I think it's more to do with it being top 50 on the global Spotify chart. I'm guessing people are discovering songs off that list? It's the only explanation that makes sense for "Faded", for example. It's top 50 on US/Canada Spotify (and #7 globally) without any airplay whatsoever and by an artist that's completely unknown here...

"lush life" is much more of a spring/summer song anyway, so that combined with its recent worldwide success and streaming popularity should be enough reason to give it yet another push.

Anywho... can someone remind me what the recurrent rule is for radio in terms of what position it has to fall under?

(sighs) Need to escape the drama... Anywho... can someone remind me what the recurrent rule is for radio in terms of what position it has to fall under? I don't think there is a rule like that -- I think a song just moves to recurrent on airplay if it was also moved to recurrent on the Hot 100. I could be wrong, though.

Drinking Class went recurrent on 03/21/2015, re-entered later with high airplay on 05/02/2015, and dropped off on 05/16/2015. It also re-entered radio chart at #21 on 05/02/2015 and dropped off on 05/16/2015 as well. Your guess might be right.

I'm convinced it will get re-released in the US (a second time!) and become a hit for Summer 2016, following the success of "Never Forget You".

^I'm thinking the Grammy's will also help Heartbeat go Top 40, or at least close to it.

Any chance for Rihanna to be #1? I'm ready for the meltdowns on Facebook.

I have always thought of this too, and there are countless other examples: Monica's For You I Will - The Boy is Mine album The Bee Gee's You Should Be Dancing - Sat Night Fever soundtrack (the above two singles actually came out a year before the album) George Michael's I Want Your Sex - Faith Destiny's Child's Independent Women - Survivor and just this past year, the Weeknd's Earned It - Beauty Behind the Madness It's hard to say, but I would say that regardless of how much earlier the single comes out before the album, it should count if it was planned to be on the upcoming album. If it isn't planned, and they just tack it on later to increase sales or whatever, maybe not so much, but technically it should count because it is on the album and was at some time released as a single, but with the special caveat that it wasn't originally planned to be as part of the set and not promoted with and released around the same time as the album. Regarding the sixth single issue, it is funny how the last, or later singles from an album can often tank and do much worse than their predecessors. This is especially interesting to see when many singles are released from an album, it's like there's all of a sudden this burst of fatigue that sets in. An extreme example that comes to mind is Fergie's The Dutchess, where she had five top five singles, and the sixth, Finally, didn't even make the Hot 100. Do you think the single should be counted even if it was meant to promote something else before the album was released (or even planned sometimes)? If we do, then something like Mariah's greatest hits would be the album with the most #1 singles, and not Bad anymore. I was referring to originally-released studio albums.

I really like the idea of a re-release for Lush Life in the U.S./Canada this summer Hopefully it'll be at least a top ten hit like it is in the UK. I was actually streaming the song when I was writing this. also I'm no longer too sure about my original prediction of a #3 peak for Me, Myself & I...it seems to have already peaked on Spotify at this point. At this point I'm thinking it probably won't pass #5 unless something drastic happens (i.e. huge performance on a talk show or something)...still holding out for a CHR/Pop #1 peak for the song though

Doesn't seem like Taylor releasing New Romantics as a 7th single is a good idea, especially how OOTW flopped, which itself was pushing the envelope in trying to extend the era. Also unusual to release a bonus track as a single from a deluxe version of an album (not a re-release). I can't think of this being done before.

And I don't really love the song. I suppose at this point its just more exposure to squeeze out a few more sales. Maybe the video will be awesome and carry the song on the charts, who knows. I'd like to think they have a plan to not let this tank.

Well I'm now convinced that Stressed Out ain't getting to #1. Oh well, I'm happy it made it this far anyway; hopefully it holds out long enough to make the year-end top ten!

What about The Motto by Drake or Super Bass by Nicki Minaj? They weren't on the main versions of the albums at least. Maybe Watch Me Work by Tinashe can be added if they end up releasing that lol.
