I wonder how many more weeks at #1 Mariah would have if not for limited/deleted singles. I wonder if she actually would've had a lot fewer weeks at #1 if the 90s/early-00s market had been more like today's with a more even playing field. With a handful of exceptions for songs that were only moderate airplay hits, Mariah consistently released physical singles (often with deep discounts) at a time when many big hits were withheld entirely, which helped her immensely on the charts. It would be quite interesting to see if there would be any way to guess at how airplay-only hits from that era would've actually performed if they had physical releases, and which songs they would've displaced at #1.

I just listened to Work From Home on Spotify and, somewhat to my surprise, I actually liked it! Definitely prefer it to Worth It! I hope it can somehow manage to get that top 10 debut this week I also listened to NO and even though I thought it was catchy and I liked it, I can kinda understand the hate towards it. The best actually kinda reminds me of This Love by Maroon 5 lol WFH looks like it would debut at highest, maybe #9 Pretty sure it will be in the top 15 though, top ten is hard since Ibiza, 7 years, One Call Away, and such are riding up there way to the top ten.

Sure, but then it means current airplay rules (i.e. all formats counting) would have been in effect for all of the 90s. She might then have had more #1s because of her multi-format appeal.

Didn't Sony delete the single so Celine could get #1? I can't recall. Possibly. I don't remember reading about "OSD" in particular, but I know previous single "Fantasy" was deleted. That makes a lot of sense. I was surprised they actually kept the physical single around that long. After all, "IBT" was deleted when it was #1 to push Unplugged sales and that seemed to be the beginning of that practice (or at least one that was reported on). Yeah "IBT" was limited/deleted. I wonder how many more weeks at #1 Mariah would have if not for limited/deleted singles. At a minimum I'll Be There, Fantasy, Heartbreaker, and TGIFY were limited/deleted. I think there may have been more. The week "Smooth" took over #1 from "Heartbreaker" Billboard noted what a close race it was, so surely "HB" would have had another week at #1 with more singles available. IBT, Fantasy, OSD, Heartbreaker and TGIFY were all deleted. I didn't know why Fantasy was deleted so early. She could've had back to back #1 debuts. Whitney's Exhale luckily interrupted for 1 week before OSD debuted. OSD was deleted to help Celine' Beacuse You Loved Me zoomed to #1. But Can't Let Go was her first single to get deleted, but it peaked at #2 Hot 100 (damn!!!, still mad with this, maybe they thought it would peak at #1 with limited single, wrong calculation). It's to increase Emotions album sales which at that time underperformed (#4 Billboard 200 peak and declined a bit quick), a disappointment compared to her massive debut album sales.

Fifth Harmony fans won't be too pleased if WFH debuts AND peaks at #12. > I'm not a 5H fan and even I won't be pleased if that happens. I ended up liking the song after first listen (I liked Sledgehammer too) so I do hope it manages to make the top ten. Even though it is somewhat a replica of "Work" and the beat resembles Maroon 5's "This Love" lol, it's quite catchy!

Is James Bay's "Let It Go" going to go up in position and will it do well on the charts (not saying top 10, but at least have some longevity and have some moderate success)? I really enjoy that song.
