I also don't think the originals were huge hits. So it's a little bit different. I never think of Whitney as a cover artist. Yes, that's what I stated in the last sentence of my post. I guess I must have been wrong about WDBHG. Maybe I got the impression she covered it when in one of the commentaries in her Greatest Hits DVD, she was discussing how originally when reviewing the song, she wasn't sure if she could connect with it and whether she wanted to do it, making it seem like maybe she had heard it before being sung by someone else...or maybe I got it mixed up with another song, as there were many others. She had likely heard a demo version. "I Know Him So Well" was an international single off her second album and is a cover. I didn't know until just now that "All The Man That I Need" was a cover.

It's crazy that JT can stay out of the music scene for as long as he wants, and whenever he comes back people still go nuts over him. Very few people can pull that off. He has so much going for him. He has the nostalgia factor with nsync for people my age. He also makes quality music which helps obviously. Plus he stays out of the public spotlight and doesn't saturate himself. He creates demand and want. He also is a fairly aggressive promoter when the time comes for it. Not to mention he is white and generally makes really safe for the mainstream. Which is nor racist just how america works these days lol. Everything he does is executed to perfection.

So many re-entries this week. I counted 9. Anyone know the record for most re-entries? I looked it up and I couldn't find anything.

Not to mention he is white and generally makes really safe for the mainstream. This exactly. If a black singer put out CSTF, it would have struggled at pop, not immediately shot top 10.

Yes, and a white person singing "Needed Me" wouldn't rise at Urban as fast. Not saying any of that is right/wrong, but people like what they identify with. When acts like The Weeknd, Drake, Rihanna, Jason Derulo, etc have consistent Top 40 success I am not even sure what criticism is happening right now.

It immediately shot to Top 10 because of Justin Timberlake's name. He is one of the biggest male pop acts of this decade. Not to mention, JT hasn't released any new music since 2013 and his last era was very successful, so anticipation for new music was high. If Bruno Mars released this same song, it most likely would've shot up to the Top 10 too. Also, the song is extremely catchy so that is probably helping it too.
