#129: The Fray - How To Save A Life
Era: first grew on me when first released in '05, then regrew on me in '08, '13, and again in early era 1 and finally era 4 Peak: 9 Weeks in Top 100: 70* (Special chart run - most of it was spent in bottom 50 so mostly in recurrent status and didn't get many points. Points were calculated specially for this song similarly to "Low Life") Weeks in Top 10: 1 Points: 340486
"He will do one of two things He will admit to everything Or he'll say he's just not the same And you'll begin to wonder why you came"
Also love the chorus: "Where did I go wrong? I lost a friend Somewhere along in the bitterness And I would have stayed up with you all night Had I known how to save a life"

Love this whole batch of songs!!! LIGLY and Gold are great although the latter's burned out on me. Panda was amazing for those four or five weeks that it was at its max, not so much now. Both the Coldplay songs are fantastic, and I still listen to How To Save a Life every once in a while. White Iverson was pretty cool for some time too

I'm recognizing a few of these now from your most recent charts, since I started watching your weekly video a couple months ago! I really enjoy "We Don't Talk Anymore". Britney's song is growing on me now; I was lukewarm at first, but now it gets stuck in my head every once in awhile.
But I am super shocked and happy to see "How To Save A Life"! What a wonderful song :) Haha I actually know that one in its entirety!!

Britney's song is growing on me now; I was lukewarm at first, but now it gets stuck in my head every once in awhile. But I am super shocked and happy to see "How To Save A Life"! What a wonderful song :) Haha I actually know that one in its entirety!! Yep, that's what I was talking about a while back, songs from similar eras tend to finish near the same positions. Like we're in a cluster of really current songs, and there has been previous clusters of songs from late 2015 as well as other time periods, but I have noticed this cluster trend. And yep, I just love the laid back feeling for WDTA, yet it conveys some pretty interesting emotions in that song haha (Charlie and Selena have some pretty good chemistry as well :) ). And I totally agree with you about Make Me! I first heard it right after I got my license, it was the first song on the radio when we were heading home from the test. I felt it was meh back then, but after hearing it a few times, it really started growing on me. And the part of the song I include in my videos... that phrase is GOLD (idk what the technical term is, lol... the song has a bit of a weird structure... it's technically part of the chorus but it never appears the first time the chorus comes up...). And yep, my local radio station really loves "How To Save A Life" and it comes up all the time even now, and I just absolutely love that song! The melody is perfect and the lyrics really fit my life experiences! Kinda surprised to see that you enjoy the song as well (since it's rock), but glad to see that you love it as well!

Wow I almost forgot "All About It", lush life deserves top 100 but at least it's close to it :) Haha All About It actually meant a fair bit to me back then, but interestingly I also kinda forgot about it until when I calculated the points lol. And yeah... Lush Life is part of the group of current songs that have just passed their peaks on my chart, but still haven't finished their chart run... which meant that if Lush Life got a few more weeks in, it probably would've secured a top 100 position pretty well (along with certain other current songs) :)

Today, we will finish up the bottom 100 of this countdown (10 posts coming tonight!) as we begin entering the top 100 over the weekend. Once I am done with this countdown, I will begin my 2016 YE list, which I hope to start over winter break. I just finished calculating points for 2016 YE (well, part of it ). #1 was pretty expected, but number 2 just made me :o . I expected the #3 to be #2 and the #2 to be #3 or #4, but man was that surprising to see that song at #2! It's a historic achievement for that song!
