I'm good with it being the next single and I wanted to see it as a single but wasn't expecting it to be the second one. I'm not sure it will fare will on pop but I think it will do good on Hot AC.

Yes, when the album dropped plenty did. It was one of the songs tested on Rate The Music, too.

I'm actually pretty geeked about this just b/c it is so unexpected. I recall several people saying it could be a good single but very few really predicted it to be, especially when talk whittled down to Heat and Medicine.

It must have done really well on RTM, or at least better than just about everything else.

Wow, very interesting twist. This will either pay off big time or will be the biggest flop in the world. Don't really see a middle ground here. I still think its one of the most schlocky, un-melodic songs on the record, but what do I know.

It'll be interesting to see how "I Don't Think About You" fares. It's definitely the showstopper moment of the album, in terms of vocals. Lyrics are a tad generic compared to the more clever moments on the album, but I've had my own shitty boss situation, so I can relate. In my petty, twisted fantasies, I dream of her delivering a mic-dropping performance of this song on an award show with Clive front and center.

She may well release something else to Pop since the Billboard guy said it was going to Hot AC, but in any case I get it and not mad after all.

One thing I hadn't considered yet in the wake of this plot twist is Atlantic does seem to be heavily pushing the "best vocalist of her generation" angle more than we ever saw RCA do, which I like, and this song shows off her voice as well as anything on the album, except maybe "Meaning Of Life"...which I still think would be the stronger vocal-showcase/"ballad" single.

Surely they've done all the tests and ran the numbers and all that jazz, but I am very wary of this choice. It also makes the lack of a Grammy performance more disappointing, because I would think a song like this needs a moment to catapult it into hit recognition territory. Given how on the ball Atlantic has been, and that she's still going/presenting, I think it's clear she just wasn't offered a performance slot. Which sucks, because she's only ever performed an original song of hers on the show...once? Unless you count "Don't You Wanna Stay."

Also unsure why only Hot AC/AC is mentioned re: an adds date. Surely they aren't going to try and push a different single to pop? Or ignore CHR completely?

I imagine they've just cut most of the 15-second piano intro to get the radio edit; there really isn't much else to trim. Hopefully they know better than to give it that shitty "Piece By Piece" radio remix treatment.

I'm hopeful that when the song takes off and does well I can smoothly pivot into stanning for it without ever being called out!

Where was AC mentioned? So far I've just seen Hot AC. So, they're either hoping to build momentum by starting at HAC, or maybe it will be a dual promotion with another song.

Interesting choice. She never had a ballad as the 2nd single (Thankful doesn't really count as A Moment Like This was the album's first 'piece of art' whether Kelly likes it or not) so I'm curious to see how it plays out as I think it's a general-public-pleaser rather than a KC-stan-pleaser. Too bad it has no Grammy performance.

Also I think they're saving that music video she's already filmed a while ago for single #3
