I can’t express how excited I am that this is a single. I always wanted it as the second single, but never thought they would actually go there. Again, there are really very few bad options, so it’s not like this was an impossible outcome. Just so delightfully unexpected, but only more epic because of that fact.

Any guesses on what they're going to do with the BS lyric that comes early in the song? For radio, just a silent bleep on shit, hopefully. Not sure how she would change it for live tv perfs though (unless she relies on 5-second tape delays to bleep it as well). |

Yay! I'm in the team of I Don't Think About You! This is the perfect choice as next single with full of emotional and good lyrics.
Medicine and Heat are great song but I Don't Think About You will touch the people much easier than them for sure.
In 2016, she already had another hit ballad song, Piece By Piece (Idol Version) since Already Gone so this is a good chance.

Interesting choice. She never had a ballad as the 2nd single (Thankful doesn't really count as A Moment Like This was the album's first 'piece of art' whether Kelly likes it or not) so I'm curious to see how it plays out as I think it's a general-public-pleaser rather than a KC-stan-pleaser. Too bad it has no Grammy performance. Also I think they're saving that music video she's already filmed a while ago for single #3 Wasn’t Invincible a ballad? I’m excited to get some HQ live performances of this bad boy! Interested to see if she changes the bridge. |

I've listened to this album in full five times in the past two days. It's simply stunning.
Also, all the veteran pop divas except Katy and Taylor have given excellent album covers over the past 6 or 7 months. (P!nk, Kelly, Kylie, Kesha, Shania, etc.)

It has no ballad feel to it like Already Gone for example.. at least not for me. Speaking of live performances, I was sure it wouldn't become a single as she's stated that it's the hardest song to sing. I feel like Atlantic chose it out of strategic reasons without looking too much at what she wants. |

I think this may be to capitalize on the popularity of ballads right now - see success of Sam and Ed. I can see stations more likely to play this than more uptempo tracks actually. I think (hope) it's a smart move.

I never imagined I Don't Think About You would become a single but I do think the overall message of the song will resonate with a lot of people. I don't know how that will translate to success on radio, but I know better than to count Kelly out considering I never imagined Piece by Piece would do anything either. I am here, however, for the rebranding of Kelly as The Voice where she can really showcase her talent and remind the general public she can really sing.

One thing I've low-key wondered about Kelly is that despite being a big vocalist, she's had very few ballad singles. Most of her ballad singles have been successful, but very few. Before Piece by Piece was what? Already Gone? And then before that was... Because of you. Most people still link big vocalists to big ballads. As awesome as songs like Since U Been Gone, Stronger, and Love So Soft are, I think she needed more ballad singles to really showcase her voice and cement her as one of the best vocalists in the world.
So I'll be happy if they will really push through with IDTAY. Hoping that the GP would respond well to it and I'm excited for all the reactions too.

It has always amazed me at how few true ballads she has had on her records, much less how few became singles. The only two real ballads that she had as singles were BOY and AG. BOY went #1 in the World. AG could have done better without the Halo controversy but it still did very well. I will be very curious to see how this does. She is past the point in her career where a good song guarantees success, so it will depend whether radio even wants to play her at all. I think they are smart to send this to HAC first. If it doesn't do much then no one notices and they can quickly release something else to CHR. The performances will hopefully be amazing and as a fan that is all I really want at this point, good music and amazing live performances!
