I can't think of anything that would be a legal issue, but it isn't my area of expertise. It's hard to say what caused the hold up, but once they missed the first window it's been a good idea to wait--the Superbowl, Kobe Bryant, impeachment, (the shredding of) the State of the Union have sucked all the oxygen out of other news stories. They probably also have more insight into release schedules from pop females that are rumored to drop new singles soon (e.g., Adele, Katy Perry). Or once it was delayed they might be timing it around something else entirely that's really positive--maybe an SNL hosting slot, or an Olympics tie-in (wishful thinking but they are on NBC...). Who knows but I am very much done waiting. This is my area of expertise and I can confidently say it is 100% not a legal issue. I think the strategy changed for whatever reason, I like that positive thinking dbmhr! Any news from anyone about the new single ? |

Ahh, they switched it! "I'll Stand By You" was listed for today, but I don't mind the switch at all. She's done the other song before so this is new and I'm always here for her doing a country song. :)
Trolls 2 soundtrack info was released this morning. Kelly's song is "Born To Die"

Wouldn’t all signs lead to “Born to Die” being a country song? Isn’t she like the mayor of the country world or something like that based on the trailer.

She did not do my song lol. The song was eh and she was visibly v tired. It was fun but I’ve had far better Kelly experiences.

Do they still use the mic on her cover song that doesn't really project audio to the room but just to the TV feed? I could really only hear her because she's got such a powerful voice haha, but it sounded like she was basically singing without a mic when I was there. |

That must have changed, you could hear pretty well. But she was warming up for about a minute and you couldn’t hear a thing she was saying, so I was scared for a second that it hadn’t lol. |

It's probably for legal reasons as American Idol and The Voice are both singing competition shows on different networks vying for ratings. It's just like when Kelly herself references Idol on The Voice or behind the scenes videos - only she can't outright say the words "American Idol," she alludes to it by saying something along the lines of "a competition like this" or "I've been on a show like this." We all obviously know what she means. She can and does comment about American Idol on her own talk show, despite being on a different network, because they are two completely different shows. |

At what point would the label part ways and we would need Kelly to release music independently and to see her tour at the local casinos. I’m fine waiting longer for new music and albums if it means she is a television star every day, on two different shows, both which give her chances to perform live!

Yeah, I'll echo what I say every time this subject comes up. Some people act as though they choice is that Kelly do television or be Ariana Grande/Billie Ellish. Her time as a global popstar is over, a time that comes for almost every popstar ever. If you would prefer Kelly solely focus on music, you're not opting for a 'global number one new album ever year' like Ariana Grande, but a much more likely Avril/Christina/Nelly Furtado/Fergie in 2020 type career. The girl, like all long term stars, learned to pivot. And as a result is touring arenas, creating an empire, earning 30 million dollars a year from her side hustle alone and providing hours of nationally televised performances a year. The short-sightedness/lack of perspective always baffles me. |
