"Back to TBP being TBP?" OK, I'm cautiously optimistic.

I wonder if it's the 'Comeback Kid' written by April Geesbreght, Paul Digiovanni, Levi Hummon.

Apparently Jon Bellion said he wrote the song.
23 minute mark.

Jon Bellion also co-wrote TBP's "Best One Yet" and "Put Me In The Game"...

Didn't they say not too long ago they were going full pop? I don't imagine Mercury would be releasing songs if they were pop songs especially after "Live Forever" died fairly fast.

"Back to TBP being TBP?" OK, I'm cautiously optimistic. But didn't they say that their Pop side is who they really are as artists, or something like that? So if TBP is going back to the TBP, does that mean TBP that audiences have come to know and expect, or TBP that they truly think they are? My head hurts thinking about this.

Jon Bellion also co-wrote TBP's "Best One Yet" and "Put Me In The Game"... I saw live versions of "Best One Yet" and "Put Me In The Game" on youtube, they both sound like they belong more on pop radio than country radio. If those two songs are any indication then "Comeback Kid" is going to be very pop sounding.

"Back to TBP being TBP?" OK, I'm cautiously optimistic. I'll be so happy if this means in the style of "DONE" and "Better Dig Two" because those are total jams and I miss that TBP!

I liked "Live Forever" as a pop song but not as a TBP song. Sure hope this is a return to form for them.

Eh, I'm out sold myself on Nate Deaton's quote "Back to TBP being TBP" being a foreshadow for a return to the band's first or second record. If I had to guess, I'd say it'll sound less Pop than "Live Forever" in beat and production but I fully expect this group to continue down the path of "pushing those format lines." The joint deal with Interscope still leads me to believe this will not be a return to the "Old TBP." This short article about the deal between Interscope and UMG Nashville from Hits Daily Double even includes quotes from UMG president/CEO Mike Dungan and Interscope head man John Janick hinting this won't be UMG handling Country singles and Interscope handling Pop singles. m.hitsdailydouble.com/news&id=301125Admittedly, I had forgotten the article since the spring (I've brought up the fact a simple UMG handling Country singles and Interscope handling Pop ones setup in the past, including earlier today) but the quotes just gave me that vibe of this group contuining down a road to a "Poppy" base of its musical identity. Note: I definitely agree with jhomes87's past comments on HDD being bias (the "bible" reference to Billboard, ). Still a piece I would take into account when guessing how The Band Perry attempts their "comeback" to Country radio.

Ok... I'm usually an optimistic (or prefer to be one) so I'll say I'm looking forward to this. I hope it sounds like their past two albums (which I enjoyed a lot).

And all their tweets. That's... odd. Careful listening to anything they post, it might contain something to erase the memories of the bright yellow era that wasn't. haha

If they erased everything then they obviously are backtracking.
That being said, I expect this to be modern country (not as "traditional" as their other songs but not as blatant as "Live Forever").

They're really starting fresh. I am amazed, mainly given the fact of how much they defended the yellow era beforehand. Also to me it looks pretty darn suspicious that they deleted all the Twitter and Instagram stuff.
I wanna be optimistic but "Live Forever" and all those live performances have left a really sour taste in my mouth, mainly cause all were terrible in my opinion regardless of what genre you put it in ("Put Me In the Game Coach" being arguably the worst song I've ever heard and that was just the live performance).
These guys really do need to make a comeback and soon though, it's been 2 years since they were in the Top 10 ("Chainsaw") it's been 2 and a half years since they were in the Top 5 ("Don't Let Me Be Lonely") and amazingly enough it's been 3 years since they had a #1 ("Done"). It's amazing how much they've fallen off the radar.

I actually like the move to delete all their history. Their message can be something like "look, we tried something new and it didn't work out. We're starting fresh again with the music that brought us together and with the music that connected us to our fans. We know we may have lost some people along the way, so this is a completely clean break for us as we return to our roots."
Fully expecting this to be classic TBP with a country feel, but alas, won't be surprised when it's not.
Edit: Also just went back and listened to Pioneer, dang that's a good song.

That's what I mean though. Based on their recent actions (and the song title) I really want to believe they know they messed up and they are going back to their unique classic TBP sound. But based on how defensive they were over LF and everything that happened directly after it, I have a hard time being sure.

I'm still pretty sure they'll blend pop and country together to try for both charts.

I'm still pretty sure they'll blend pop and country together to try for both charts. And more than likely perform miserably on both. Side note, unrelated to how this song will perform: the promotion on social media for this song has been incessant and almost downright annoying - at least for someone who follows the three members and the main band account. I want to root for them, I really do, so I will reserve final judgement until the song comes out.

These videos are going from slightly intriguing to just plain creepy. Yeah The Band Perry handling this whole thinh just seems so creepy. Also that video of Reid is also strange as well. I especially find it weird that they are going to release the audio for this single on the add date. Also I have a feeling this will still be a pure pop song as the image of them on UMG Nashville hints at that greatly. Country Perspective offered a great piece on The Band Perry's constant lack of musical direction. countryperspective.com/2016/07/28/the-hodgepodge-the-confusing-saga-of-the-band-perry-continues/
