2010's Decade-End Charts (Updated through 03/25)

1ST UPDATE (09/10/2016)

Hey, everybody! WARNING: Lots of reading up ahead, hehe.

At the request of others here and due to the fact that I'm interested in the subject as well, I've decided to begin my very own 2010's decade-end predictions! Now, I haven't gone through the trouble of collecting the chart run data for every single song, so I must thank THINKIN BOUT YOU and Daniel Collins for their earlier threads on this matter where I was able to find the top 130 songs or so in order to reduce the work I had to put into finding the top 100 songs at the moment. It would've taken about a couple of months longer to start this thread otherwise . Hopefully, I'll be able to get every song's chart run eventually but for now this will have to do.

Here is the point system I am using. Multipliers include:
08/09/1958-12/1970: *1.7
01/1971-12/1972: *1.6
01/1973-12/1976: *2.0
01/1977-12/1984: *1.6
01/1985-11/23/1991: *2.0
11/30/1991-03/17/2012: *1.0
03/24/2012-12/2013: *0.9
01/2014-12/2014: *0.85
01/2015-present: *0.8

I calculated all the point positions based off a percentage from the #1, which I happened to set at 65,000 pts since I just prefer it looking somewhat alike the year-end predictions on the hot 100. Things I am fairly positive about this: #2 is 2/3rds points of the #1 and #10 is twice the points of #11.

{2000's Decade-End Chart (Billboard vs Me):}How do I know this? Well, in order to come up with a fairly accurate point system I used the 2000's Billboard decade chart (and the all-time chart a little). I found the chart runs for every song that made that decade's hot 100 and tried to come up with an accurate system that would put them in their according positions. And btw as far as I know, no multipliers are needed for that decade. Here are the results of that test (the test is now updated to the revised inverse pt. system):

I ended up with 39 right on and an average error of 1.44 positions per song. One downfall I had with this, were the longevity hits. However, some seemed to end up too high (i.e. I'm Yours) while others ended too low (i.e. Bubbly). So, I'm not sure as to how to fix that but hopefully I can in the future.

Edit: All the songs' points have been revised according to the newly devised system and it seems to have had much better results with the exception of Boulevard Of Broken Dreams (oh well). I have improved the figures from 39 to 74 exact positions and from an average of 1.44 positions off per song to a mere 0.28 positions off per song!

Also, the GOAT chart is looking pretty decent as I received a total score of 63 positions correct with an average of 0.50 positions off per song. According to my calculations, Uptown Funk! would now have accumulated a total of 1,411,685 points placing it at #9 just behind Physical though with a small chance at #8 if an error exists.

New edit: A total of 82 exact positions only being off, on average, 0.22 positions per song. Uptown Funk! would definitely be #9 now with 1,412,898.

{First Update of 2010's Decade End Chart (*uses original inverse pt. system that was more inaccurate):}
Now for the actual 2010's decade chart so far! Updated through the Sept. 10, 2016 hot 100 chart, here it is. Bolded songs are currently charting. The last decade feature is an estimate on where the song will land based on the 2000's decade chart's points. Remember, this chart extends from December 2009 through the present date.








There are a few issues with the order already set by Billboard's Greatest Of All Time hot 100 chart release in October. I got STIUTK's at 1,213,810 points vs RITD's 1,218,127 and the former is supposed to be above. Also, Dark Horse received 1,033,263 vs Thrift Shop's 1,037,683 and the former should once again be ahead as the latter wasn't even on the all-time chart. So, to accommodate for this I just put in some estimates as the order for those is already determined.

Edit: These^ issues have since been fixed!

I think I'll update once a month since there isn't too much movement occurring on a decade-end list. So, the next update will be after the Oct. 1, 2016 hot 100 chart is released! Hope you guys enjoy this thread!

I, unfortunately, have no idea what ended up just outside the top 100 since I don't actually have the chart runs for all those songs (just the top 100).

Also, for those two songs:

With You - 705,943
I Don't Wanna Know - 673,563

So, With You was very close according to my point system, but I Don't Wanna Know definitely was not.

If you want me to provide total points on other songs, I'm welcome to but it'd be great if you could provide their chart runs.

I don't get how We Found Love is always so high on these decade-end/all time lists. It only sold 5.4 million in the US, which isn't that high compared to songs like PRA and RITD.

Im 99 percent sure Justin Timberlake - My Love and Nelly - Shake Ya Tailfeather may also be in the 700,000s point range.

Id say do a check of 50 Cent - Disco Inferno too. Spent 17 weeks in top 10 but I think most of the weeks there was in the 6-10 range.

Also Harlem Shake no where close to top 100 of 2010s or what?

Also on the "others" update you put DOJ twice. One of them is prob meant for Whats Luv I think, right?

I suppose I could do it; I have many of the chart runs down already since I used some to check my point system. It would be quite difficult to get the multipliers right though and I'd end up making a lot of estimates (probably rounding to the thousand) since it'd be so hard to get the songs close to the right order.

The thing is though, I don't know if it would matter much as no song that is currently charting is on the All-Time chart. Additionally, the only difference between mine and Billboard's Oct. 2015 update is that Uptown Funk! would be a few positions higher.

Just updated the numbers.

Also, Harlem Shake only received 444,288 points; it fell off way too fast only having 8 weeks in the top 10. All its huge weeks at #1 don't count for much here.

Well, this one is certainly easy to do so I'll do it right now.

If Harlem Shake had not existed, Thrift Shop would've had 5 more weeks at #1 which would make its points go from 1037k to 1135k. It would've easily been #8

I'd really like it to, but there's just no way. It's going to end up with ~630k points on my predictions (assuming it stays pretty constant for its last 4 weeks), which is nowhere near the cutoff that will probably be at least 700k.

The fact that it only spent 14 weeks in the top 10 messed it up. It was stagnant in positions 11-15 for a while but sadly those top 10 weeks are too crucial.

Heh, thanks for doing this. It'll be interesting to see how this unfolds, even if there are gonna be a lot of people who won't be wild to see their favorites miss it (including one for me which I'll get to).

And on that note, my comments:
- I'm not even gonna comment on the whole Party Rock Anthem/Uptown Funk debate again, at this point it's obvious that the former is gonna take it unless Uptown Funk pulls another surprise re-entry like after the Grammys. I will say though, it's pretty amazing how far ahead of everything else these two are.
- I know it's on Greatest of All Time, but Tik Tok did pretty darn impressive for a song that only had 32 weeks this decade.
- Haha, Radioactive has the highest amount of weeks on the Hot 100, with 87, and it missed 1,000,000 by less than 500 points. How tragic.
- Woohoo! Go Someone Like You and The Hills!
- Give Me Everything had a pretty solid run for a song that only had one week at #1, compared to Timber which had more time at #1 but a weaker run overall. Kinda like Shake It Off vs. Blank Space.
- Also impressive that Wake Me Up did that good for a song that peaked at #4. Same with Some Nights at #3, both higher than Blank Space and Roar? Yeah, no complaints there.
- Dang, I thought What Do You Mean would've had a better shot what with 21 weeks in the Top 10. Guess not. Not that I find that disappointing, though.
- F**k You and Super Bass I also find surprising that they did as good as that to know they'll make it.
- Speaking of disappointing, of all the songs below Cheerleader, the only one I can honestly say I'm heartbroken to know it won't make it is Shut Up and Dance. If only it had good YouTube... And maybe Lights, as well.

Great work George, you did an amazing job!

Looking at your list, I have an appreciation for how big some of those 2000s hits were. I mean I would've never guessed No One was on the same level as Call Me Maybe.

And to think that The Sweet Escape was so close to hitting the top 100! If it had a week at #1 instead of #2, it would've made it. It's interesting, because The Sweet Escape was ranked #3 on the 2007 year end chart, and Girlfriend was ranked #12, but Girlfriend made it on the decade end chart and The Sweet Escape didn't. That's one of the biggest discrepancies I've seen from the year end and decade end chart.

And I love how you can total the points for songs that were split between decades with your chart. For example, Down probably would be top 20 if all of it's points counted.

And because I was curious, here is Say It Right (Nelly Furtado) chart points: 649817.
