#4. Keith Sweat featuring Jacci McGhee - "Make It Last Forever"
Keith's second hit featured singer Jacci McGhee and became his second hit to reach Top 10 on the R&B chart, in the summer of 1988. It was produced alongside Teddy Riley. This is the highest-ranking slow jam on this countdown.

#3. Johnny Gill - "Rub You The Right Way"
While Johnny had some minor solo success prior to joining New Edition, it was his first solo single after becoming a member of the group that catapulted him to superstardom. This Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis-produced track topped the R&B chart in the spring of 1990 and became one of three chart-toppers from his 1990 self-titled album.

#2. SWV - "Right Here/Human Nature"
When SWV released their debut single in the summer of 1992, it became a moderate R&B hit (topping out at #13). However, the following summer, when a remix blending it with Michael Jackson's "Human Nature" was released, the song became a major hit, topping the R&B chart and peaking at #2 on the Hot 100. It was their second of three R&B chart-toppers.

While Mary J. Blige had a major R&B hit in "You Remind Me" earlier in 1992, it was this track that introduced Mary to mainstream pop music audiences. The track topped the R&B chart (her second chart-topper) and became her first Top 10 single on the Hot 100. It remains one of her most enduring hits.
