Ed Sheeran in 'Shape' for Possible No. 1 Hot 100 Debut Next WeekBy Gary Trust | January 13, 2017 1:25 PM EST Ed Sheeran Ed Sheeran's new single "Shape of You" is set to storm next week's Billboard Hot 100 chart (dated Jan. 28), possibly with a debut at No. 1. His other new track, "Castle on the Hill," could also arrive in the top 10. The songs, released Jan. 6 on Atlantic Records, are from Sheeran's third studio album ÷ (pronounced "Divide"), due March 3. Industry forecasters suggest that "Shape" could sell 225,000 downloads or more in its first week (ending Jan. 12), easily making it the best-selling song of the week. Further, "Shape" should also draw roughly 50 million in radio audience and 20 million U.S. streams for the week. (Each song is accompanied by an official lyric video so far.) All combined, the song should challenge for the Hot 100's top spot upon its arrival. Currently, Migos' "Bad and Boujee," featuring Lil Uzi Vert, is in its first week at No. 1, having lifted 2-1 on the Jan. 21 Hot 100. Meanwhile, "Castle" could sell 160,000 downloads or more in its first week and boast 14 million U.S. streams, while adding a nominal radio audience sum. Its combined activity could translate to a top 10 debut for the song on the Hot 100. Read more: Ed Sheeran Is First Artist to Debut at Nos. 1 & 2 on Billboard + Twitter Top Tracks Chart Notably, Atlantic is promoting the pop/trop-house "Shape" to pop and adult pop radio, while the U2/Coldplay-reminiscent "Castle" is being worked to the more niche alternative and adult alternative formats. (Following its first three days of airplay, "Shape" launched at No. 41 on the Jan. 21-dated Radio Songs airplay chart. It could reach the upper half of the Jan. 28 tally. Radio Songs follows a Monday-Sunday tracking period, while sales and streams are measured Friday-Thursday.) Should "Shape" start atop the Hot 100, Sheeran would earn his first No. 1 on the chart as an artist; he co-wrote Justin Bieber's "Love Yourself," which spent two weeks on top in February 2016 and went on to become the No. 1 title on the 2016 year-end Hot 100. And, if "Castle" begins in the top 10, joining "Shape" in the region from the start, Sheeran would be the first artist to debut two songs in the top 10 simultaneously in the Hot 100's 58-year history. Check Billboard.com Tuesday (Jan. 17, a day later than usual due to the Martin Luther King Jr. Day Monday), when highlights of the new Hot 100's top 10 will post. The entire chart, and all rankings, will update the following day. The bolded part for those posting on Monday repost

George Michael and Prince in the Top 10 together. :( RIP both + Michael Jackson and Kurt Cobain (Nirvana). RIP all. There are more deceased artists in the 1992 top ten than there are in the 1962 top ten (maybe, I honestly don't know about all those group members). I'm just saying though, it's like there's a curse on superstars of the 80s and 90s. MJ, Whitney, Prince, George Michael, Kurt, 2Pac, Biggie, Left Eye, Aaliyah, Phife Dawg, Heavy D, Selena, Eazy-E, frontmen for Alice In Chains, Blind Melon, PM Dawn, Stone Temple Pilots, Kris Kross, INXS, Milli Vanilli...it was only 20-30 years ago, there shouldn't be that many of those artists gone.

If someone had told me 10 years ago that they'd all be gone in 10 years I'd of slapped them in the face. All of them gone too soon...

Castle On The Hill's tragic Hot 100 run begins. :( First bad news, in its first week it misses the top 5 even though it could have made it... Next bad news will come when it drops out of top 40, and then the entire Hot 100...
Because of that I have a hard time accepting SOY. I don't think it's a bad song but I definetely care much more about COTH and it just feels awful that the first one going to completely kill the latter. But still, I am happy that there is so much movement on the top and that B&B lost the top spot (at least for now).

So next Closer will have 25 weeks in the top 10 with the only real increasing songs being Bad Things, Paris(?) and I Don't Wanna Live Forever, I see it definitely getting close to 32 weeks.

Oh I'm not sure it'll beat it but I think it could come close. Especially with how weak the lower half of the top ten tends to be

It's still Top 10 on iTunes and Top 15 on Spotify, so I don't see it falling off the Hot 100 (or even Top 40) quite yet.

Closer will probably drop out of top ten quite soon as Paris is taking off... airplay is the key

Overall she might have a different highlight Her bio says she has an acting career, hits in other countries and plays to sold out concerts in countries other than this one.
