So... In 2017, who are the pop females with No. 1 albums.... Katy Perry, Kesha, Pink, soon to be Taylor. Man, Kelly Clarkson fans must be heated. LOL

And correct me if i'm wrong but isn't 400k more than the highest selling week of any album this year? This has already passed it in pre-sales.

LOL 'Meaning Of Life' DESERVED (and it still deserves) that #1 debut. Well, it didn't out up the numbers, so...not really. But that's diverting away from the point of this thread. Although Taylor should sell well in the US in the initial rush, I'm curious as to how she'll do Internationally over the next few weeks. Despite having hits before, she only REALLY broke out on a massive level with the last album, and the single's relatively quick fall has been mirrored outside the US as well. acharts.co/song/1082101989 had great longevity everywhere, but her approach this time isn't the best after only one such success. I'm really curious as to what her opening number will be in the UK. Initially I thought that she'd take the top spot easily even with Sam Smith's second week, but he's having a live special on the BBC on the 9th, which will definitely soften his decline.

What are we predicting for 1st week sales in the US? She's entering the 1st day with 400k already and I guess this number will keep growing until Friday. It's really incredible how popular this girl is, even without a hit single like SIO.

People seem to forget sometimes just how strong her fanbase is. She doesn't need a hit to open huge and even if it doesn't have strong longevity we are still looking at at least 2 million cleared domestically, which is more than most could hope for in this sales climate.

I actually really like Call It What You Want? Lol. Seems like it is getting trashed, but my rankings right now would probably go
Ready For It Call It What You Want Look What You Made Me Do

LOL Suddenly that odd behavior of yours in the Kelly Clarkson album thread makes so much more sense. LOL Anywhoo... joining the larger discussion.... I agree the album rollout has been hit or miss, but at least in the US Taylor is pretty much idiot-proof. She could have release a lead single making fart noises to a guitar and a beatboxer and she’d still sell a billion records over the holidays. She’s been making multiple formats hits for a decade. She’s set. Even if this album ends up perceived as subpar or something she won’t feel it until the next one. But she could live off her fanbase if it came to it for a while. She’s at that Beyoncé place.

It's like all the gurls got together this year and said, "unlike our past efforts . . . forget the hooks, it doesn't need to be traditionally catchy, in a mainstream pop sort of way." Such an unexpected turn of events this year!

Judging by these songs, I guess the theme of the album is her talk-rapping? Doesn't suit her voice, sound, or really serve her in any way. Anyone else think the production sounds a little cheap on these last 2 songs as well? I usually like a bunch of songs from Taylor's albums, but this one is off to a really bad start for me. Yes! Talk-rapping is what it is. I'm excited every time a new song of hers is released and every time she disappoints.

I'll be really pleased if it passes the 1M mark (which will probably happen). Two years ago I said "Taylor HAS to do 2M with TS6" but with this rollout, 1.5M would be a dream lol... Thank God she's on Spotify now.

I like how people have been complaining about the four songs released and it still is projected to debut with those numbers.

Not really surprising when you consider that she's never had a 'bad' album before. Well, I hated Red, but I know that's not a majority opinion. She's really built up and up and up every album from her debut. Even if the average Taylor fan doesn't like what they've heard so far and reputation ends up being trash, it's still riding on the back of her, heh, reputation from past albums.

Somewhere on twitter said it's projected pre-downloads are at 400K which is twice what 1989 had at that point in time. The source is credible I assume but we'll see.

I still see it debuting between 800k and 1.1 million.

If they're forecasting 1.5, then that's final proof that this is going up on all streaming services from the get go.

"reputation" was reportedly played in Birmingham HMV earlier today and everyone on Twitter is going crazy. After everyone went ‘crazy’ because of track 8 at the listening party a while back, I’ll be my own judge.

After everyone went ‘crazy’ because of track 8 at the listening party a while back, I’ll be my own judge. Probably the crazy is because it's being played early not because of how great it is. At least, that is how I read it.

1.5m would be a great way to kill those "Taylor is over" comments.
Sadly the music is not clicking with me so far. I'm burned on both singles and the promo singles I have no use for so far. And this is coming from someone who still gives Welcome to New York the occasional spin! Please have one Style or Blank Space-type on the album...

The Target magazine is expected but I’d be curious to know how much an impact the pricing of this ($13.99 on iTunes; $15 for the CD) would/does have on sales. I get that true Taylor fans will spend coin on her regardless but I’d think they’d at least want to take advantage of standard sale pricing week one ($9.99) to maximize its sales potential among casual listeners/fans.

Taylor fans are the kind of fans that buy 10 deluxe cds to collect all the polaroids from 1989. And even those who are not hardcore fans all bought the deluxe version of 1989 for the pics, she's fine ahah
