This song ( and album ) are so criminally underrated it hurts. Agreed! Love this album and have been listening to Shoulda Known Better a lot lately. Such a beautiful song. Maybe Janet and Missy are working on a new bop together?? I'll take another Burn It Up (or anything tbh) from those 2. |

Stupid f*cking Covid ruined everything.... 😤😤😤 RIP Black Diamond 🖤🖤🖤 In addition to many other things, COVID is now added to the list of excuses we need to stop using, regarding Janet’s drive. She is the one responsible for doing and not doing. These are her choices. If she wanted to put new music out, we’d have it. I struggle to believe that anything in excess of a few songs have been recorded since the sessions for that “EP” she was working on. Janet’s prerogative right now is to coast. She’s been doing this for decades now. I think, at this point, the likelihood of more festivals, residencies and one-off performances (award shows where she’s receiving another honor) are more realistic than a studio album. Even touring without new music is plausible. To me, that’s better than her not being visible at all. She’s a legacy artist, so we have to start adjusting our expectations of her own professional wherewithal. |

The way I started shaking when she sang those couple of lines from "Lonely" halfway through LWAW... I was like aw hell no if this bitch segues into "Lonely" I am going to pass out right here and now. "Lonely" is my #1 Janet Jackson song and it has never been performed live!!! Alas, it wasn't meant to be. At least for now. Something tells me she would consider doing it in full in the near future if she dug it up now out of nowhere, for the first time ever no less.
By the way, Jan ATE that stage. And I love the glittery black catsuit.

Watching the Essence performance right now. I'm thoroughly enjoying it. She looked and sounded incredible. My fave part is definitely the middle and end where she sang the singles from Control and RN (it really took me back) even little bits from freaking "Lonely"!!! Freaking "Lonely", y'all!!! When was the last time you ever saw her sing that song in her performances???! The audience's energy level sounds so dead tho. It's a far cry from her much earlier concerts. Maybe I need to put my headphones in to fully hear them. I really miss those days. I did hear the audience got excited a bit when she sang "I Get Lonely", as always.
Watching this made me realized how it's been nearly 5 yrs since I last saw her in concert.
And LMAO at the people at end of the video complaining how she said "Good Night" so abruptly before singing Rhythm Nation.

I can’t get over the fact that mama was singing live the entire show and sounded great! She really needs to ditch the headset mic and use a handheld the entire show. She isn’t dancing as much as she used to and I would love to see her explore different performance styles.
