SHe was grooving a lot. Through much of the show she was in heels, so she kept it cute. But there are moments for breakdowns and where she shows off a bit. I chatted with Dean (choreographer), DJ Aktive, Joey Harris (former VP), Lonnell Williams (3LWTV, who owns the IG post shared here) and said hello to Venus Williams. Janet is magical in concert. Her stage presence is on point. The hits speak for themselves.
Especially if you're someone who loves, likes or appreciates her musical catalog/discography, it is going to be a treat. The musical arrangements are fantastic!
There's not another artist who does it like her. I can understand not having the funds, but being on the fence about going is unacceptable. She is worth it!

I honestly love the Damita Jo and 20 Y.O. albums. They are associated with fun memories and I love to dance. Give me Moist or Take Care over the big hits please!
We never got a tour for either and songs like So Excited barely make it to the setlist, so the songs never got a chance to get old or played out. For instance, Rhythm Nation is my second favorite album and Come Back To Me is my favorite song, but I'm fine with not seeing most of the songs from that album performed again. And from Control, I only get excited for the title track and Nasty. She's performed all of those songs on pretty much every tour since the first, but the singles and album tracks that I like from 1995 to now don't get that same love.

I forgot the Number Ones compilation has the R. Kelly remix of "Anytime, Anyplace"  I know it's what radio played at the time and this compilation was collected in 2010, but still. |

I saw Janet in Columbia, SC last night! For one, this show starts on time and everyone is out by 11pm! They know their audience (by my estimation most of the crowd were in their 40s and 50s). Janet did a lot of dancing and was commanding the stage as usual. I'm not {Spoiler}a huge fan of medleys that cut songs short, but she has so many hits I guess that's the only way to do it. Plus it was the format of the show to do segments, so that gave it context. I did think the opening segment was odd because most of the audience clearly didn't know those songs, so the energy was low at first. I was pretty happy that a snippet of {Spoiler}"Like You Don't Love Me" was done as I love that one. The DJ that was used at the very start really got the crowd going, and Luda was lit as well. |
