"Goodbye Earl" is such a classic, so I am definitely okay seeing it win! It was totally unexpected though, as I feel like usually songs of that nature are usually polarizing enough to make the top 10 but not much further!

I like "Goodbye Earl" but I wish I had ranked it a little lower so it wasn't #1 as I just feel as though it is a bit of a disservice for this song to place at #1. "Cowboy Take Me Away" fits #1 more and I should have ranked it a little higher. I like both songs but have heard "Cowboy Take Me Away" so much that I just don't really care to hear it again which is why I ranked it as low as I did. Oh well, I do like "Goodbye Earl" and apparently enough people did to rank it high enough to get #1 over everything else. Great job hosting KanenrΓ‘:ke |

FML. Nobody even ranked it at #1 either.  I know when I seen this won I had to do a double take because it didn't receive any #1's. "Cowboy" & "Nice" both had five #1's! But this one snuck in and took the crown! I so wanted to tell you way back when you first started to say GE shouldn't win but I had to bite my tongue lol I honestly felt a little bad every time you brought it up.  |

F&*k yeah!! If "Not Ready to Make Nice" wasn't gonna win I'm ecstatic "Goodbye Earl" won. Story song revenge murder and just pure perfection. Just so happy and ecstatic this won.
I love "Cowboy Take Me Away" as well don't get me wrong.
"Goodbye Earl" was the third Dixie Chicks song I got introduced to first two being "Not Ready to Make Nice" and "Without You". I found the song while watching CMT 100 Greatest Videos a 5 hour special on CMT, (aired in 2008) and this song ranked 7th and the music video fascinated me so much that the song basically was my childhood and was one of the first songs I truly loved. I literally did a coin flip for my Top 2 spots and "Not Ready to Make Nice" won.

Goodbye Earl is great though! While I think Not Ready To Make Nice is legendary and among the greatest songs written and recorded of the century, Goodbye Earl is still a fun song with serious undertones. It peaked at #13 on country because even back then, the Dixie Chicks were controversial and not all stations were on board with it as a single. Didn't some stations put a disclaimer on before the song?

Long Time Gone was robbed of 1! Also, if that wasn't possible, Cowboy Take Me Away should have been 1.

Very, very surprised here. Almost as surprised as when "Lonely Eyes" won the 2015 rankdown. I wish I had ranked it a bit lower so one of my top 2 could have taken the winning spot
