so, from my calculations, i think there are 3 more male vocal artists left (Bryan Adams, The Weeknd & Arcade Fire) & 8 female vocal artists (Celine Dion, Alanis Morissette, Sara McLachlan, Nelly Furtado, Tegan&Sara, Shania Twain, Avril Lavigne, & CRJepsen)
i guess my hopes for New Pornographers & Corey Hart have come crashing down to brutal reality

Sarah McLachlan is quite hit-or-miss for me. Possession is a great song, though. "Into The Fire" is my favorite from Sarah...i tend to prefer her older material |

The updates may be a bit sporadic for the next few days but I hope to still be able to post daily until we find out who the favourite Canadian artist is on Pulse!

I'm most surprised/disappointed about Justin Bieber being out at #16. :(
Pretty confident that Celine, Carly Rae Jepsen, Nelly Furtado, Shania, and Avril are all in the Top 10. Dunno what else.

1) Surprised at Bieber being out at #16. I wasn't a fan of him, but his music since Boyfriend has been pretty good. I think he's musically redeemed himself and could've been higher.
2) I'm disappointed at some 80s classics that seem to not have had enough points to even rank: Men without hats, Cory hart just to mention a couple.

I am pretty confident that Celine, Shania, and Avril will all be in the top 5. They might even be the top 3... Although you can never underestimate the Carly Rae Jepsen love on Pulse! But despite her talents she definitely does not deserve to place higher than any of those 3, in terms of legacy.

Damn I should have participated in this.
My Top 3 would have been Nickelback, Marianas Trench, and Hedley respectively in the 1, 2, 3 spots. Carlegend would have been 4 or 5.

Speaking of Carly Rae, I was pleasantly surprised to see her make it to #4 in the iHeartRadio Top 150 Canadian countdown over canada day wknd. While..a local ROCK station ranked 'New Orleans is Sinking' as their # 1 all time Canadian rock song and Alanis', 'Ironic' topped an AC station's list. That made me realize i FORGOT to rank Alanis! Forgive me Canada.
Looking forward to the Pulse Top 10 now..
I think The Weeknd will be #10 and Shania will be #1

Before I begin to receive the Top 10, here are some facts and figures. This rankdown is different from all the others in that for the first time, not everything on each person's list will make the final rankdown. That means while everyone has the same impact, not everyone's list is represented the same. For example:
 The number of artists from each person's list to make the top 50 ranged from a low of 16 to a high of 35. The average person has 27 (27.2) artists in the Top 50.
The number of artists to make the Top 10 from each person’s list ranges from just 3 to 10. 9 people have the entire Top 10 somewhere in their rankdown. The average person has 7 (or 7.4 to be exact).
The number of each person’s Top 10 to make the final Top 50 ranged from 2 to 10. Only 4 people have their entire personal top 10 somewhere in the final Top 50.
Most people submitted lists with artists that appeared on no other’s list, thus making their vote for that artist the sole vote. With the exception of 2 people whose entire list contained artists that someone else voted for.
The person whose list contained the most single-submissions had 12. The average list had 4.1 artists that didn't receive a vote from anyone else and mean was 3.

Daniel P  wter's "Bad Day" is seriously one of the worst songs I've ever heard in my life...and i've heard over 25k songs. The only thing that I can think of that even approaches this level of dreck is James Blunt's "You're Beautiful". I'd torture my ears with FOB's "Young & Menace" over either of those two songs any day. |
