My call is that the winner is gonna be a war between - Frozen - Like A Prayer - Material Girl - Vogue - and Like A Virgin
My #1 pick is probably gonna get slaughtered maybe.

I'll probably have to pass on this one unfortunately. I really don't think I can sit through 70 Madonna songs today (and I have yet to finish the 90s Decade-End rankdown which is due tomorrow) anyways since Madonna's not the type of musician that I can listen to for hours on end. I still love certain songs from her though. Would you mind tagging me for the results? I'm really curious how this will shake out.

I'm sure that the 90s could get extended cause aero suddenly has gonna MIA so I hope that he is ok and plus he has flashback before it too.

Tough tough but finished my rankdowns for singles, non-singles and albums. It was interesting to see how time has improved my appreciation for some songs and decreased for others. Some personal chart-toppers got stuck below the top 30 and a few top 10s but not top 3s have ended in the top 30. It was also great to revisit full albums and try to select non-singles in a top 10. Pretty hard to choose especially the 5-10 section as I was flip flopping among about 10 songs. Very interested in the results.

Pretty much the same as this, well maybe one other song in my top 10 might not do all too well Aside from that I'm gonna get murdered for my #83 and #53(mainly cause these two are really well liked, one being one of her most iconic, the other being a fan favorite that was controversial as hell)

Thanks everyone who submitted. I need to look things over and add the recent lists, so we'll start this tomorrow sometime. If you still want to submit, and are able to before tomorrow afternoon, you can, but PM or tag me that you're going to so I don't start before you send. Glove, is that Betty Ford in your avatar? I don't know why, but this really made me laugh for some reason lol. No, it's actually Margaret Thatcher before her Prime Minister days.

Welcome to the Immaculate Rankdown
Forty years ago, a 19 year old Madonna Ciccone dropped out of the University of Michigan and moved to New York. Initially aiming to be a dancer, she eventually switched to music and got a deal with Sire records in the Spring of 1982, with her first single getting released that Fall. An album followed the next year, and she began a virtually uninterrupted streak of major releases over the next two decades. Indeed, moreso than anything else, what stands out form Madonna's chart history is her consistency ( fifty-one of the singles entries have at least one top 10 rank), which lasted significantly longer than most major hitmakers. She has 38 Hot 100 top 10s, 12 Hot 100 #1s, 8 #1 albums, and 21 top 10 albums. However, Madonna's impact goes beyond simply the numbers. A lightning rod for controversy, Madonna essentially pioneered the powerful female pop star, and having a near-unparalleled impact on the industry and popular culture. Regardless of who sold more what year, today Madonna is an undisputed icon, and regarded as one of the most important female artists of the 20th century. And although in recent years she has found her commercial appeal limited to touring, it should be mentioned that she found success on the pop charts significantly into an older age compared to most, achieving her most recent Hot 100 top 10 at 53, and CHR top 10 at 49. Some questions before we start. 1. What do you think will be #85? Ha! Hopefully one of those not so good songs? 2. What are you prepared to be disappointed by? Those who do not love the 80's 3. What will the top 5 be? Bottom 5? I don't wanna get thrashed before we even start, so I'll just say, Hopefully the same ones I chose. 4. What will have the highest standard deviation? The Lowest? Highest:"Like A Virgin". Those turned off by the lyrical content. I'm not one of those tho. Lowest: "Crazy For You" Everybody better love this one? 5. How do you expect the top 10 to be distributed among the decades? Depends on your age I guess, but you can't deny the classics.

Great intro!!!! Some questions before we start. 1. What do you think will be #85? Hey You! I mean, I love Madonna but that was one of the worse cheesecakes she's ever created 2. What are you prepared to be disappointed by? You'll See, Miles Away (aka Fuzzy dream) and Celebration being under-ranked Celebration being booted in the bottom 10. 3. What will the top 5 be? Bottom 5? Others in bottom 5: Gimme all you lovin, American life, Bitch I'm Madonna, Another suitcase.... none of them are in my bottom 5 but I can see them bottoming here Top 5: that's gonna be very interesting, but I think Vogue and Like a Prayer will be there for sure. Others I'd think be between Hung Up, Frozen, Into the Groove, and Holiday. 4. What will have the highest standard deviation? The Lowest? Highest: Bad girl? True blue? Beautiful stranger? Lowest: I'd think Hey You, LaP, Vogue 5. How do you expect the top 10 to be distributed among the decades?[/quote] A tie among 90s and 80s stuff, with Hung Up as the sole representative of this century.

I'm expecting "Hey You" or an Evita single to bite the dust first, with the top five most likely being the same songs @mirza named at the top of the page. It's not one of my top favorites but I do hope "Spotlight" sticks around for a while.
I'm thinking the top 10 will have a 4:4:2 ratio of '80s, '90s and '00s singles respectively.

American Life, although not her best, is often unfairly maligned...hope the singles from it don't get out in the bottom 10

I'm expecting BIM to be dead last It's not bad it's just somewhat obnoxious after so many listens. Ghosttown & Living For Love are surperior to it And in terms of party songs for Madonna Celebration, Into The Groove, and Jump wreck BIM

1. What do you think will be #85? Gosh, I have no idea... maybe "Revolver." That one just plain sucks. IIRC it couldn't even hit #1 on the Dance chart, and she hits #1 there with everything, lmao.
2. What are you prepared to be disappointed by? I love recent/2010s-era Madonna a lot more than most, so I'm prepared to see a lot of those much lower than I ranked them </3
3. What will the top 5 be? Bottom 5? Top 5 is obvi. gonna be a bunch of straight classics, but she has sooooo many of those. I think "Like a Prayer" and "Frozen" are locks, but that's all I can guess there. Bottom 5, gonna guess some stuff from Evita, plus "Revolver," and maaaybe "Bitch I'm Madonna," but I could see that one maybe narrowly escaping.
4. What will have the highest standard deviation? The Lowest? High SD for "American Life" maybe? It seems like one of her most polarizing hits. Lowest for something like "Frozen" that's highly regarded, or for some of the soundtrack ballads that no one probably ranked particularly high.
5. How do you expect the top 10 to be distributed among the decades? Probably mostly 80s and 90s Madonna material since that seems to be her most highly-regarded eras, with maybe 1 or 2 sneaking in from the 2000s (like "Hung Up" most likely).

1. Hey You! is the only correct answer for last place. 2. I'm worried that a lot of the 90s stuff will be underranked (particularly the not as successful singles like Bad Girl and Bedtime Story). 3. Top 5: I'd be confident in saying Like a Prayer, Frozen, and Into the Groove had a good chance. Express Yourself too. I would love to see Borderline sneak in, but I'm doubtful it would get that high. Bottom 5: Hey You! and Another Suitcase feel guaranteed. I hope You Must Love Me and Spotlight aren't that low, but I wouldn't be shocked if they were. Possibly a 2010s single too. 4. 3 words: Bitch, I'm Madonna. 5. I'm gonna guess that the top ten is half '80s songs, and then either a 3:2 ratio for '90s and '00s or 4:1. If two '00s songs make the top ten they will be Music and Hung Up.

IIRC it couldn't even hit #1 on the Dance chart, and she hits #1 there with everything, lmao.It was surprising but the majority of the released/promoted remixes for that were just not that good. The label inexplicably released a version of one of the better mixes with less vocals than another version that existed that had more on the basis that it would go over better. As much as I liked it at the time, I think it was really bad choice of song to put on as a new track on the Celebration hits collection and it's poor chart performance also reflects that.
