Debuts at #12 on R&B Albums and #100 on Top 200 with 4k SPS (3,500 sales). I still don't know where the hell her fans went.
In comparison:
Lost & Found debuted at #10 on R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and #78 on Top 200 with 8,900.
Turn Me Loose debuted at #1 on R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and #14 on Top 200 with 27k.
Pieces of Me debuted at #2 on R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and #8 on Top 200 with 36k.
The Truth debuted at #4 on R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and #14 on Top 200 with 19k.

The problem is that people expect artists to stay where they are. It is different, in fact, but I praise her for trying something new. It is still a good album just like the others.
High also took too long to take off. And it's still climbing.

I heard "high" for the first time and the production reminded me of "suit & tie" by JT and JayZ. It was a different sound for her. I'm rather surprised her sales aren't more consistent. There were several R&B releases last week, so maybe that had something to do with it.

R&B fans are too damn fickle and that’s exactly why the genre isn’t seen as commercially viable anymore unless it’s being aped to assist the latest homogenized trend.
Soon as I heard the trap elements, I knew High would be polarizing but IMO it’s one of the best examples of “trapsoul” (fuk a Bryson Tiller) and how those two styles can be combined successfully without trying too hard. People revolted like she just threw 21 Uzi Pump on the track when the lyrics and vocal performance are quintessentially Ledisi.
/end rant. I hope the Grammys make up for her fans deserting her.

I've been skimming the album and it sounds really fresh, but I think they went with the wrong lead. I would've loved something like "All the way" being released as her lead. That song is GLORIOUS. I also think "If you don't mind" would've been a great lead. Kirk sis a great job on that one.

Yeah, the title track should have been one of the first songs out. It’s so smooth. The John Legend feature should also be utilized.

I could see the title track working as a lead. I do think "High" would have better serve as a second or third single despite being an excellent song, imo. Or she could have went with "Add to Me" or "Here" (I would probably loved this one as a lead).
I'm curious on what will be next; I'm assuming between "Add to Me" or "Here", particularly, I think "Here" could definitely bring interest in this album. She has endless amount of urban AC singles, imo.

This is my favorite album released this year, I'm pretty sure. I'm here for every song on the album. And Shot Down is a goddamn masterpiece. Basically, I just wish this album was getting some more love.
