Not surprised the trap element is causing High to struggle at Urban AC but my body is ready for a new Ledisi album regardless.

This album is damn stellar. Wow wow, I knew with those preview songs we were in for an awesome one and she definitely deliver on that front.
I love her political talk in "Shot Down", such a catchy and creative outlook from her. Awesome. There is so much groove to this album too, "Let Love Rule", "Hello" and "Give You More". Every ballad is perfection, especially "Forgiveness", "All The Way" and "If You Don't Mind". I love the interludes too, short and sweet. Maybe it is just me but I love when a lead single is near the end or the middle of the album because it always suggested that the album is strong (similar to Fantasia "The Side Effect of You" album). The lyrics content is pretty great on this one too. Just a cohesive piece of work. Best believe, this just might be my favorite album from this year. Bravo Ledisi, bravo!

Wtf are her fans? Played it several times today and it’s definitely one of the best R&B releases in 2017. I’m impressed at how solid and cohesive it is considering the label basically forced her to record this album. She’s overdue for a Grammy win although I foresee her and this album losing to Bruno or Gambino (should they all be nominated and end up in the same category).

I can definitely see this nominated along Mali Music and Mary.
Would Sza qualify, I know she’s considered alternative R&B; that’s their strongest competition since she actually has a hit off her album.
If Goapele would have released a full album, I would have considered that stiff competition too.

Sorry but that's Queen Mary's Fuk! I forgot about Mary. I can see her, Ledisi and Bruno in Best R&B Album (unless his label foolishly submits him to Pop Vocal Album) while SZA and Gambino end up in Urban Contemporary. Ledisi deserves a win regardless! High definitely needs to be submitted for R&B Vocal and Song. |

Mary is going to be nominated for sure, but I think this album is more solid. I think Grammy loves Ledisi, she's been getting consistent nominations since that BNA one and it might be her time finally (and hopefully).

Solid album. Those interludes were unnecessary but don't bother me. Definitely deserves a Grammy nod.

Why did they force her to record the album? Not sure but $$ was a factor involved most likely. I heard a radio interview where she said she was adamant to everyone around her that she wanted to take a longer break between albums and didn't want to record anything but since she was "forced into the studio" and had nothing to write about, she decided to work with more songwriters and producers outside her usual circle and created her "least personal" album but something she is still proud of. |

I could three or four more tracks on this album; it feels extremely short to me. However, maybe not because her last one had filler after "Like This". This one, fortunately, is stellar to the start to the end.
