The Muse Rankdown (Winner: Knights of Cydonia)

Well, if you were following my Journey Through Time rankdown, you knew that this was coming. If you didn't follow the Journey Through Time rankdown, welcome! I'm Red, and Muse is my favorite band. And they're not just my favorite band...they're my favorite band by a mile. At this point, I can reasonably claim to be a superfan of the band. After I completed my first rankdown, a Muse rankdown was the only possible followup. I'm sure that a Journey Through Time sequel will happen in due time, but, for now, let's get the ball rolling on a rankdown years in the making.

Note: I've put together a Spotify playlist, but...it's not pretty. There are no studio versions of "Dead Star", "In Your World" AND "Neutron Star Collision" on Spotify, at least in the US. I have made up for the first two by putting the Hullabaloo live versions of "Dead Star" and "In Your World" in the playlist, but I would greatly prefer if you ranked the studio versions of "Dead Star" and "In Your World" instead. As for "Neutron Star Collision"...YouTube may be the only way to go, for now.

GROUND RULES
- As you'd expect, you will send your rankings to me via message (from best to worst, 1 being the best and 40 being the worst).
- If you wish to submit an album track/non-single top 10, you can do this, too! Just make sure that you also PM me that ranking, as well as your single ranking. I will also accept a top 5 instead of a top ten, but I'd really prefer if you did a top 10.
- This rankdown will have a set in stone deadline: October 13th at 11:59 US Eastern. There will be no extensions to the deadline, unless circumstances beyond my control (or anyone else's, for that matter) call for an extension. Like with the Journey Through Time rankdown, I will accept late submissions within around 24 hours after the deadline, as it will be unlikely that I will start immediately after the deadline.

This might take longer for me to submit than I thought because working out the order of my bottom 20 is very hard. I can't decide which song I hate more than the other one.

Hey, first time we get to do this for the latest Red rankdown, thanks to Green and his ranking...it's time for a(n early) B-B-B-B-BALLOT UPDATE! As you'd expect with things in the very early stages of the ranking process, Green's ranking shook things up a bit. The biggest change is how far away the top ten songs are now from the rest of the pack, with #10 being 7 points ahead of #11. It's early, but that's a sizable gap for this early in the process.

More stats to consider:
- TIES? YOU BET! In fact, there's a tie all the way up at #2. And the songs tied at #2 are only a point behind #1. There's also a three-way tie at #5 and a tie right below them at #8. Outside of the top ten, there's ties at #11, #19, #28, #32, and there's another three-way tie at #24.
- It's early, but only three songs have crossed the 70 point mark, though there's quite a few songs almost at that point.
- Again, it's early, but three songs have yet to receive 10 or more points.
- #38 and #40 are separated by three points, and #39 and #40 by just one.

Let's see whether this rankdown can revive my Muse fandom. I thought they were my favorite band, but that honor has now gone to The National, not to mention I'm more into indie bands like Radiohead and Bon Iver now. I still really like them when they put out great songs though. (so long as they don't put stuff like Dig Down they're great)

I'm typing in Verdana font, and you know what that means (maybe)...it's time for a(nother early) B-B-B-B-BALLOT UPDATE! The picture continues to be a bit murky, and Garmonbozia/Bangwave/Tom/(insert your own name for him here) didn't really change that aspect of the early ranking process. What he DID change was actually massive for a couple of songs, in opposite directions. Thanks to his ranking, a couple of songs got a needed boost, while a couple more tumbled down the ranking.

More stats to consider:
- We have a third different #1 in three rankings...and this latest one kind of surprised me. It's currently three points ahead of the first #1, and four points ahead of the previous #1.
- The top 3 and #4 are the first songs to cross the 100 point threshold. 5-7 are not far off, either.
- Despite the top 10 itself getting shuffled up, the songs in the top ten were almost the exact same as the previous update, except for one, which made a big leap up to #10.
- TIES? YOU BET! #15 is the current highest tie, while there are also ties at #24, #28, and #35.
- Every song now has ten points, but the bottom three are the only three songs to not receive 20 points. We also have a new #40 for the first time.
