"You Have Been Loved" is a beautiful song, but not one I listen to often. I much prefer "The Strangest Thing" (which was released with it as a Double-A single in the UK)
Very surprised Older couldn't make it inside Top30... its a great song!

Yeah, I wasn't sure what to do with "The Strangest Thing." In retrospect I probably should have included it. I did read that "You Have Been Loved" received most of the airplay at the time of its release due to Princess Diana's death which is why I went with just that song cause I thought it'd be more familiar...
I also feel I could have included "Hard Day" and possibly "Heaven Help Me" (Deon Estus ft. George Michael) and the two I scrapped to make it an even 50; "Let Her Down Easy" and "This Is Not Real Love." It would have been a nice 55 song list. Sigh. C'est la vie.

Deon was actually in Wham back in the day. "Let Her Down Easy" while not a George original, would have made my top 15. I also would have loved to play around with "Hand To Mouth" no [pun intended
34. Where Did Your heart Go Amazing ballad. Sort of "careless Whisper" part two. Actually the fact that this makes an early appearance is due to either, the fact that many of you don't remember it, or you just don't like the perfect 80's ballad style. 33. I'm Your Man
Both of these were off Wham's last album; "Music from the Edge of Heaven", which sits proudly in my record collection. |

Sad that "Older" and "Heal the Pain" are out already, theyβre both close to my heart and I'm not sure how many more surprises it can take!
"The Strangest Thing" is actually my favorite song of his but the single version sucks so nbd.

I mean... George's version of "Somebody to Love" was indeed pretty epic, but there's no way it should be ahead of "Outside" and "Heal The Pain"... these 2 songs alone just goes to show how talented and versatile George was! "Oustide" was the PERFECT response to his "incident" in the late 90s... George just took control of the narrative in the most amazing way! "Heal The Pain" doses the right amount of melancholy and hopefulness, that result in delightful ballad with a McCartney flair (who later collaborated with George for a new version)

It's such a gorgeous song! Stunning, really! It's a shame that it's probably way too non-commercial for the general public's enjoyment =(
