Starlight had 2022' biggest opening week so far when it debuted at Number 1. Can Dave hold on for a second week?
Dave could be celebrating his second week at Number 1 in the UK this week, as surprise single Starlight is currently top of today’s Official Chart First Look Update. Last week, Starlight debuted at Number 1 with the biggest opening week of the year so far.
This week’s highest new entry looks set to go to Manchester rapper Aitch, who is on track to debut at Number 2 with Baby (00s R&B star Ashanti is also credited due to a sample from Rock Wit U). Not only would it be Aitch’s sixth Top 10, it would be Ashanti’s first since 2005.
On the rise again, Jax Jones and MNEK could hit yet another highest peak with Where Did You Go potentially jumping up three places to Number 7.
Viral duo A1 x J1 could also gain their 3rd UK Top 10 this week. Night Away (Dance) featuring Tion Wayne is up one to Number 10 in the midweek mark.
Could Cat Burns crack the Top 10 for the first time next week? Her breakthrough hit Go is up eight to Number 11.
Tiesto and Ava Max show no signs of slowing down with their frantic dance hit The Motto potentially rising yet again to another new best of Number 15.
And finally, Camila Cabello’s Bam Bam featuring Ed Sheeran on course to enter the Top 20 for the first time (19).
The Official Singles Chart Top 100 is revealed on OfficialCharts.com every Friday at 5.45pm. Follow the Top 40 countdown live on BBC Radio 1’s Official Chart show with Scott Mills.

This week’s highest new entry goes to Aitch with Baby at Number 2, which becomes Aitch’s seventh Top 10 single. The single also features a credit for ‘00s R&B siren Ashanti, thanks to a sample from Rock Wit U (Aww Baby), a Number 7 hit in 2003. It becomes her first UK Top 10 since 2005.
Jax Jones and MNEK continue to rise with their collaboration Where Did You Go, moving up three to a new peak of Number 7. Can it crack the Top 5 next week?
American singer and actress Dove Cameron earns her first-ever UK Top 10 single, with Boyfriend jumping five slots to Number 9. Boyfriend has the biggest pure sales of the week, thanks to a limited edition signed CD release. Read our exclusive interview with Dove Cameron here.

TikTok star Em Beihold continues to rise up to another peak with Numb Little Bug (25) and Becky Hill & Galantis also lift six to a new best position for Run (28).
Megan Thee Stallion and Dua Lipa make a great first impression with their team-up Sweetest Pie. Debuting at Number 31, it’s Megan’s fourth UK Top 40 hit and Dua’s 21st.
Producer Liilz scores his first-ever UK chart entry with viral hit Glad U Came featuring ZieZie, which features a heavy sample from The Wanted’s 2011 Number 1 single Glad You Came after it blew up on TikTok.

27 March 2022 By Helen Ainsley
The two songs are leading midweek with just a handful of chart sales between them.
It could be a clash of the UK rap titans on the Official Singles Chart this week as Aitch sits at Number 1 on the Official Chart: First Look with Baby ft. Ashanti.
The Manchester rapper is taking on reigning Number 1, Starlight by Dave – and as things stand the songs are neck-and-neck after 48 hours with just a small handful of chart sales separating the two tracks. If Aitch can hold on to his current position it will mark his first ever UK Number 1, and Ashanti’s second.
Meanwhile, Jax Jones could claim a new peak with Where Did You Go? ft. MNEK, up one place to Number 6 on today’s First Look.
Tiesto & Ava Max are eyeing up the Top 10 with The Motto, up three spots to Number 10 after 48 hours. If they keep this momentum The Motto will mark Tiesto’s 5th Top 10 hit in the UK and Ava Max’s second, following her breakout hit Sweet But Psycho which spent four weeks at Number 1 in January 2019.
Further down, Joel Corry, David Guetta and Bryson Tiller could rocket into the Top 20 with What Would You Do?, currently up 16 places to Number 15.
Also tracking to enter the Top 20 for the first time is Run by Becky Hill & Galantis, up nine places to 16, and Tate McRae’s She’s All I Wanna Be, up four to Number 17.
The Official Chart: First Look offers a first glance of the Top 20 ahead of Friday’s Official Singles Chart Top 100. The chart is based on preliminary sales and early streaming reports.
The Official Singles Chart Top 100 is revealed on OfficialCharts.com every Friday at 5.45pm. Follow the Top 40 countdown live on BBC Radio 1’s Official Chart show with Scott Mills.

He fends off tough competition from Aitch's Baby to remain at Number 1 for a fourth consecutive week.
Dave’s Starlight sets a new chart record today as it secures its fourth consecutive week at Number 1.
The song clocks up 6.8 million streams this week, and holds off fierce competition from fellow rapper Aitch’s Baby ft. Ashanti (2) to claim its fourth week at the top.
With a month-long stretch at the top of the Official Singles Chart, Starlight is now the longest-running Number 1 solo UK Rap single in Official Charts history. See Dave’s Official Charts history in full here.
Viral sensation Cat Burns continues to make gains with breakthrough hit Go, this week climbing two to a new peak of Number 6. Read our interview with Cat about Go’s unprecedented success here.
After a performance at this week’s Concert For Ukraine, Camila Cabello & Ed Sheeran’s Bam Bam ascends six places to Number 10. It’s Camila’s fifth and Ed’s 37th UK Top 10.
Tiesto and Ava Max continue to rise closer to the Top 10 with The Motto (12), while Liilz and ZieZie also reach a new peak with Glad U Came (15). Tate McRae has two tracks present in the Top 40 this week; She’s All I Wanna Be (16) climbs five to a new peak, while this week’s highest new entry Chaotic (36) becomes Tate’s third UK Top 40 hit.

The top hits of 2022 including Disney's Encanto, Fireboy DML and Ed Sheeran's Peru, Gayle and more.
Disney Encanto’s We Don’t Talk About Bruno storms straight into the lead as the UK’s biggest single of 2022 so far, according to Official Charts Company data.
The track – performed by Encanto cast members Carolina Gaitán, Mauro Castillo, Adassa, Rhenzy Feliz, Diane Guerrero and Stephanie Beatriz – became the first-ever original Disney song to reach Number 1 on the Official Singles Chart in January, where it reigned for seven consecutive weeks.
We Don’t Talk About Bruno boasts 581,000 combined UK chart sales so far in 2022, including a staggering 84 million streams – the most-streamed song of 2022 so far. It’s the most popular music video of the year-to-date also, its official music video has been streamed over 28 million times so far this year, that's three times more plays than any other non-Encanto song has managed in the same period. In total, there are four Encanto tracks in the year-to-date Top 40 - Jessica Darrow provides Encanto’s second entry on the list with Surface Pressure (7), which peaked at Number 3 back in January. with The Family Madrigal at Number 15, and What Else Can I Do at 26.
It's a Disney takeover across the board at the end of the first quarter, the Encanto soundtrack also tops the list of 2022’s official biggest compilation albums so far, with the movie’s companion record shifting 153,000 in total chart sales this year.
Encanto may be a proven streaming powerhouse, but across the rest of the list we see huge streaming volumes too, in fact the UK’s Top 40 songs of the year so far have amassed a staggering 1.3 billion streams in the first quarter of the year alone.
Fireboy DML claims the second-biggest song of 2022 overall with the infectious Peru, featuring Ed Sheeran. The track earned the 27-year-old Nigerian singer – real name Adedamola Adefolahan – his first-ever spot on the Official Singles Chart, peaking at Number 2 where it spent six weeks at the height of Encanto’s domination.
So far this year, Peru has racked up a total of 460,000 chart sales, and is the second most-streamed song of 2022 so far with 54 million audio and video streams. Peru is also the most physically-purchased track of 2022 so far thanks to its release as a CD single.
Ed Sheeran claims a hat-trick with a total of three singles in the year-to-date Top 5. Just behind Peru in third place is Shivers. So far, Shivers has notched up over 408,000 combined chart sales this year, including 49 million streams. Meanwhile, Bad Habits lands in fourth place, with a total of 404,000 including 51 million streams.
Dallas-born breakthrough artist Gayle smashes all the way into the Top 5 songs of the year so far. Gayle’s UK chart debut, the angsty break-up anthem ABCDEFU (5) became a viral TikTok sensation that transcended the app to top the Official Singles Chart back in January, seeing 17-year-old Gayle become one of the youngest acts ever to score a UK Number 1 single.
In fact, Gayle joined Jawsh 685 and Olivia Rodrigo as the third under-18 chart-topper in two years, earning a place also in the year-to-date Official Singles Chart with total UK chart sales of 398,000 and over 47 million streams in 2022.
At the time she hit Number 1, Gayle told OfficialCharts.com:
“The thought of my song being Number 1 in the UK is so hard to comprehend, but I’m just so excited and grateful. Thank you for being angry with me and hopefully we can feel all the emotions with each other again.”
Elsewhere in the Top 10, Lost Frequencies and Calum Scott’s collaboration Where Are You Now scoops the biggest dance track of 2022 so far, and the most-downloaded song of the year-to-date too, landing in sixth place overall in the list.
Sam Fender's Seventeen Going Under, performed by the North Shields singer at The BRITs earns the title of biggest rock song of 2022 so far, earning a placing in the Top 10 (9).
Meanwhile, just outside the Top 10, Dublin producers Belters Only land at Number 12 with Make Me Feel Good ft. Jazzy, while Australian producer Luude sees his rework of Men At Work’s chart-topping 1981 hit Down Under – featuring Colin Hay – at Number 14.
It's only been out for a month, but reigning king of the Singles Chart Dave storms straight into the Top 20 at Number 19, having just last week set a new Official Chart record when Starlight became the longest-running Number 1 solo UK rap single, spending its fourth week at the summit.
Finally, other big new releases in 2022’s Top 40 songs include Canadian newcomer Lauren Spencer-Smith’s debut smash Fingers Crossed (20), Liverpudlian rapper Hazey’s Packs and Potions (34), Central Cee’s Obsessed with You (37) and BRIT School alumni Cat Burns’ TikTok viral track Go (38).
Martin Talbot, Chief Executive, Official Charts Company comments:
"It has been a truly musically multi-cultural start to the year in the UK. With the Latin-infused We Don’t Talk About Bruno and the Afrobeats-driven Peru leading the Official Singles Chart, the UK public has taken global sounds to their hearts.
"With Ed Sheeran, Sam Fender and Dave also taking places in the Official list of the Top 20 biggest hits of the year so far, the music landscape is as eclectic as it has ever been."

The biggest album of 2022 so far is Ed Sheeran’s = (Equals), the Official Charts Company can confirm today.
The UK superstar’s fourth studio album was named the second biggest album of last year overall, and surges into first place in the race for 2022’s top album crown with further UK chart sales of over 133,000 so far this year. Unstoppable Ed delivers both the UK’s best-selling and most-streamed album of 2022 so far; to date = has spent a total of four weeks at Number 1 and racked up 566,000 combined chart sales in total.
At Number 2 is another chart mainstay; Adele’s long-awaited comeback record 30 has notched up another 94,000 chart sales this year so far. 30 was named the biggest album of 2021 in the UK - as well as the best-selling physical record of last year too. 30 now boasts total chart sales of 694,000 since its late-November release. See Adele’s Official Charts history in full here.
Meanwhile, the biggest new release album of 2022 so far goes to The Weeknd’s Dawn FM at Number 3. The post-disco concept record, and The Weeknd’s third UK Number 1 album, features input from producer Max Martin and collaborations with Jim Carrey and Swedish House Mafia, and has amassed 76,000 UK chart sales since its January release.
Plus, a cluster of greatest hits collections including Little Mix’s Between Us (5), The Weeknd’s Highlights (6), Fleetwood Mac’s 50 Years: Don't Stop (7), Eminem’s Curtain Call: The Hits (8), and Elton John’s Diamonds (10) start out strongly in the Top 10.
Chart-topping new releases of 2022 make their ascent toward the Top 10
A flurry of chart-topping new releases are already beginning to make their ascent up the year-to-date Official Albums Chart with their sights set on dislodging the classics as the year progresses. The biggest new British release and mixtape of 2022 so far belongs to Shepherd’s Bush-born drill star Central Cee. His sophomore release 23 lands just outside the Top 10 at Number 11 in the list, after becoming the rapper's first-ever Number 1 on the Official Albums Chart back in February.
Other fresh new cuts storming their way into the end-of-quarter Official Albums Chart Top 40 include Years & Years’ eclectic Night Call (16) which reached Number 1 back in January, Stereophonics’ eighth Number 1 Oochya! (25) and Bastille’s Give Me The Future (40) - the first chart-topper in six years for Dan Smith and co.
Elsewhere inside the Top 40 albums of 2022 are ‘80s stars Tears For Fears, who made a welcome return to the chart in March with their first album of original material in seventeen years. The Tipping Point (23) earns the title of best-selling physical release of 2022 so far. Meanwhile, US rapper Gunna is at 29 with DS4ever. The album became Gunna’s highest-charting album to date in January, when it reached Number 4.
Following the passing of rock icon Meat Loaf earlier this year, his seminal work, 1977 debut album Bat Out Of Hell, achieved a new chart peak of Number 3.
Famed for being the ultimate slow-burner having previously only reached Number 9, despite being one of the UK’s Top 20 best-selling albums of all time. Bat Out Of Hell (32) fires all the way into the year-to-date top albums list now too as the British public rediscover the classic.

Can Jack score his first-ever UK Number 1 single with First Class?
Jack Harlow and Harry Styles have entered a very tight battle for Number 1 in the UK this week.
Kentucky rapper Jack is currently leading the charge at Number 1 with First Class (which samples Fergie’s Glamorous), which would become his first-ever chart-topper here.
But with less than 2,000 chart sales between the two a week left, it’s still all to play for.
Can Harry and the record-setting As It Was close the gap? Keep your eyes peeled on OfficialCharts.com for all the updates.
Pink Floyd are on track to make a startling return to the Official Charts. Hey, Hey, Rise Up! featuring Ukrainian singer Andriy Khlyvnyuk could debut at Number 5. It would be the band’s first UK Top 10 single in 43 years - since Another Brick Wall hit Number 1 in 1979.
David Guetta, Ella Henderson and Becky Hill could also be on track for a Top 20 debut, with their collaborative single Crazy What Love Can Do currently at Number 16.
The Official Singles Chart Top 100 is revealed on OfficialCharts.com every Friday at 5.45pm. Follow the Top 40 countdown live on BBC Radio 1’s Official Chart show with Scott Mills.

Jack Harlow also earns his first UK solo Top 10 hit with the Fergie-sampling First Class.
Harry Styles scores a second week at Number 1 on the Official Singles Chart with As It Was.
The lead track from the forthcoming Harry’s House beats off competition from Jack Harlow, and is once again the most-streamed song of the week in the UK, earning 7.6 million streams
This week’s highest new entry goes to Kentucky rapper Jack Harlow, whose First Class debuts at Number 2, becoming his first solo UK Top 10 hit. The viral track is built around a sample of Fergie’s 2007 track Glamorous.
Cat Burns continues to hit new heights with breakthrough track Go entering the Top 5 for the first time (5), while Camila Cabello and Ed Sheeran also achieve a new peak with Bam Bam (9) following the release of Camila’s third solo album Familia.
Outside the Top 10, David Guetta, Ella Henderson and Becky Hill debut at Number 20 with their collaboration Crazy What Love Can Do. The dance bop is David’s 44th, Ella’s eighth and Becky’s 15th Top 40 entry respectively.
Charlie Puth is also on the rise again with TikTok anthem Light Switch jumping four to a new peak of Number 26, while our final new entry of the week comes courtesy of Digga D, who enters at Number 35 with Hold It Down, the Ladbroke Grove rapper’s 12th Top 40 hit.

Plus hits from Camila Cabello, Tate McRae and Becky Hill continue to rise.
Harry Styles is zooming ahead to secure a third consecutive week at Number 1 on the Official Singles Chart with As It Was.
Last week saw Harry retain the top position after a closely-fought race with Jack Harlow's First Class, which could also hold steady at Number 2.
Camila Cabello and Ed Sheeran also make moves, they potentially rise one place to a new peak of Number 9 with their hit Bam Bam.
Tate McRae She’s All I Wanna Be continues its upward trajectory; it could climb two to Number 15, a new high for the angsty pop-rock bop.
David Guetta, Ella Henderson and Becky Hill debuted straight in the Top 20 last week with Crazy What Love Can Do, and now the track is set to move one to a new peak of Number 19.
Becky Hill also could be this week’s highest climber; Run featuring Galantis could possibly jump five spots to a new peak of Number 20.
The Official Singles Chart Top 100 is revealed on OfficialCharts.com every Friday at 5.45pm. Follow the Top 40 countdown live on BBC Radio 1’s Official Chart show with Scott Mills.
