^ I think it sold around 20k in its first week (#3), and now after 7 weeks in the top 20, I’d say it’s at 100k or so. It’ll probably be eligible for Silver (200k) by the end of the year.

Anne-Marie and Aitch’s collaboration PSYCHO gains momentum to reach new highs today (6), while Stormzy boasts the week’s highest new entry with Hide & Seek (7). With such a strong debut, the latest cut from his upcoming This Is What I Mean album could prove a future contender for the top spot.

Taylor Swift makes charts history with Midnights becoming the UK's Number 1 album and scoring her second-ever UK Number 1 single with Anti-Hero.
Taylor Swift becomes the latest artist to achieve the relatively rare Official Chart Double, as her tenth studio record Midnights and its breakout hit Anti-Hero claim Number 1 on the Official Albums and Singles Chart simultaneously.
Proving she’s an artist at the top of her game over 13 years after her debut, Taylor fends off competition from Arctic Monkeys to land straight in at Number 1 on the Official Albums Chart with Midnights with the most explosive opening week of her career so far. According to new Official Charts Company data released today, Taylor has shifted a staggering 204,000 UK chart sales in seven days – that’s more than double her previous personal best of 90,300, which she managed when her album 1989 debuted on the chart in 2014.
Midnight surpasses Harry Styles’ Harry’s House to deliver biggest first week of the year so far
The fastest-selling album of the year so far, Midnights overtakes 2022’s previous title-holder, Harry’s House, almost doubling Harry Style’s first-week figures (113,000 chart sales). Taylor’s tenth studio LP also debuts with the biggest first-week albums sales since Adele’s 30, which logged 261,000 chart sales last November.
Midnights now claims the title of the most-streamed album of the year in its first week, too. The record boasts 72.5 million streams in seven days, surpassing Harry Styles’ 53.9 million with Harry’s House earlier this year.
The new Queen of Pop? Taylor overtakes Madonna to set new Official Chart record
With nine consecutive Number 1 albums now under her belt, Taylor Swift overtakes Madonna to set a new all-time Official Chart record, generating the fastest succession of nine UK Number 1 albums of any female artist. Taylor scored her first UK Number 1 album exactly 10 years ago in October 2012 with Red, whereas it took Madonna 21 years to reach the same tally. The Beatles hold the overall record here, racking up nine chart toppers in 5 years and 7 months between their debut album Please Please Me in May 1963 and The White Album in December 1968. Madonna retains the title of the female artist with the most Number 1 albums overall with 12 to her name, but Taylor now overtakes Kylie Minogue to follow in second place. Taylor also extends her lead as the female solo artist with the highest-collection of Number 1 albums this century.
Midnights joins Taylor’s previous eight UK chart-topping albums, all achieved consecutively; Red (2012), 1989 (2014), reputation (2017), Lover (2019), Folklore (2020), Evermore (2020), Fearless (Taylor’s Version) (2021) and Red (Taylor’s Version) (2021).
Soaring straight to the top of the Official Singles Chart, Taylor scores her second UK Number 1 single with Anti-Hero this week, following 2017 chart-topper Look What You Made Me Do. Midnights boasts two further tracks in the Official Singles Chart Top 10, too; Lavender Haze (3) and Lana Del Rey collaboration Snow On The Beach (4) - more on that below. As if all that wasn’t enough, Taylor also becomes the first female artist in nine years to debut atop the Official Albums and Singles Charts simultaneously. The last was Miley Cyrus back in August 2013, when Bangerz and Wrecking Ball both entered the Official Charts at Number 1.
Recognising both Taylor and Arctic Monkeys’ incredible achievements this week, Martin Talbot, Chief Executive, Official Charts Company says: “Many congratulations to Taylor Swift on her fantastic achievement in topping 200,000 sales this week.
“We always knew this would be a huge week for fans of Taylor and Arctic Monkeys, following the release of their brand new albums - and their combined first week total of more the 320,000 chart sales indicates that their pre-release excitement was well placed. Coming so soon after a fantastically successful National Album Day earlier this month, the successes also highlight just how popular albums continue to be in the digital era – and suggest that the pre-Christmas sales surge is underway.”
Official Albums Chart
Arctic Monkeys’ streak of six UK Number 1 albums may have been broken, but they put up a valiant fight. The Car revs up to a Number 2 debut, also pushing over 100,000 chart sales in its opening week, a rare feat indeed. Discover the Arctics’ full Official Charts history here.
Lambeth rapper Loyle Carner debuts at Number 3 with Hugo. His third studio album and second Top 10 LP to date in the UK, it equals Loyle’s previous career-high with Not Waving But Drowning.
Eighties icons Simple Minds also claim their highest-charting album in four years with Direction of the Heart (4), while Kylie Minogue’s underrated alt-pop opus Impossible Princess celebrates its 25th anniversary by re-entering into its highest chart position ever (5). Originally released under the title Kylie Minogue, it peaked at Number 10 in 1998.
Outside the Top 10, alt-rockers Dry Cleaning enter at Number 11 with second album Stumpwork, while A-ha’s True North claims a Number 12 debut.
Cult pop queen Carly Rae Jepsen follows on with her eclectic sixth studio album The Loneliest Time (16), which becomes her highest-peaking album in the UK in ten years.
Andrea Bocelli makes Christmas a family affair with son Matteo and youngest daughter Virginia. A Family Christmas (17) is the elder Bocelli’s 23rd Top 40 album and helps kickstart the festive season a little earlier.
British metalcore outfit Architects are our last new entry with The Classic Symptoms of a Broken Spirit (18).
Following her triumphant Official Chart Double, a select collection of Taylor Swift’s previous albums are also present in the wider Top 40; 2020’s folklore (28), 2014 release 1989 (30) and 2019 LP Lover (36).
Official Singles Chart
As Taylor Swift dominates the Official Singles Chart this week, several former Number 1 hits are still present in the Top 10; Sam Smith & Kim Petras’ infernal Unholy (2), David Guetta & Bebe Rexha with I’m Good (Blue) (5) and Lewis Capaldi’s Forget Me (6).
The only non-Taylor high climber inside this week’s Top 10 comes courtesy of Oliver Tree & Robin Schultz’s fast-rising viral hit Miss You, rising one to a new peak of Number 8.
Arctic Monkeys also impact the Official Singles Chart today, with two tracks from The Car landing inside the Top 40. Body Paint vaults a massive 38 slots to Number 22, while I Ain’t Quite Where I Think I Am debuts at Number 23, giving Alex Turner and co. their 18th UK Top 40 single.
Doo-wop queen Meghan Trainor has returned to her roots, and its paying off in dividends. New single Made You Look gives Meghan her first Top 40 single in the UK four years (27).
Elsewhere, singer-songwriter Dean Lewis’s emotional track How Do I Say Goodbye also makes gains this week, up four to Number 31, while Joel Corry & Tom Grennan debut with their fiery new collaboration Lionheart (Fearless) (37).
And finally, South London’s own K-Trap re-enters the Top 40 with Warm (40).

It would be Tay's longest-running Number 1 hit in the UK.
After seeing off hot competition from Sam Smith & Kim Petras and Rihanna on Friday, Taylor Swift looks set to lock herself in for a third week at Number 1 on the Official Singles Chart with Anti-Hero, which would become her longest-running UK chart-topper to date.
Anti-Hero has so far equalled the two weeks at the top of Tay's only other UK Number 1, 2017's braggadocious Look What You Made Me Do.
Following the release of their new collaborative album Her Loss, three tracks from Drake and 21 Savage are heading for the Top 10; Rich Flex (3), Major Distribution (4) and On BS (5).
These would add Drake's total of UK Top 10 singles up to a staggering 37, while they would tot 21 Savage up to five overall.
After weeks of upward momentum, two viral singles could enter the Top 10 for the first time; Venbee and goddard.’s messy in heaven (8) and Meghan Trainor’s Made You Look (10).
Made You Look would become Meghan's first top 10 single in seven years, since 2015's Marvin Gaye with Charlie Puth (her second and most rexent UK Number 1 single). You can read how Made You Look's return to doo-wop has helped Meghan find renewed success in the TikTok age in our exclusive interview with the star here.
K-Trap’s Warm might be this week’s big gainer; re-entering the Top 40 and possibly claiming a brand-new peak (19).

The UK's top hits of 2022, including hits from Harry Styles, Cat Burns, Kate Bush, Fireboy DML, Sam Fender, the cast of Encanto and more.
Harry Styles claimed the UK's Official biggest song of 2022 with As It Was, the Official Charts Company can confirm today.
The lead single from Harry's third solo album Harry's House shifted 1.57 million chart units since its release in April 2022 to the year-end. As It Was also holds the distinction of being the UK's longest-running Number 1 of 2022, managing an epic 10 weeks at the top of the Official Singles Chart. The synth-pop track became Harry's second UK chart-topper, following 2017's debut single Sign Of The Times.
As It Was also leads the pack as the most-streamed song of the year, totalling over 180.9 million audio and video streams, and best-selling across combined physical and digital sales with 65,000.
Harry leads an all-British takeover of the Top 10 biggest tracks of the year in the UK, marking the first time in 50 years that all ten of the year's most successful singles were released by British artists - including Harry, Cat Burns, Scottish DJs LF SYSTEM, and Kate Bush.
2022 also continued the growth of streaming as the dominant way UK music fans consume their favourite songs and artists. The BPI calculates that more than 3 billion audio streams were generated on average every week in 2022, compared to around 1.3 billion each week five years earlier.
The UK’s audio streaming market has grown to meet this demand - more doubling from 68.1 billion to 159.3 billion audio streams and was last year over 40 times bigger than in 2012 (3.7bn audio streams). It now takes, on average, 1.3 million audio streams to break into the Official Singles Chart Top 40 and a combined 7 million audio and video streams to land a UK Number 1 single.
In second place is Ed Sheeran with 2021's biggest song, Bad Habits, which gobbled up 1.18 million chart units throughout 2022, proving Ed's reach is just as dynamic and powerful as ever. This year also saw Ed break a major Official Charts record - becoming the first artist ever to have four albums chart inside the Official Albums Chart Top 10 for a year or more.
Rounding out the Top 5 we have Ed once again, this time teaming up with Afrobeats superstar Fireboy DML on Peru (3), breakout BRITs Rising Star nominee Cat Burns with her Number 2-peaking single Go (4), and Ed's third entry, the scintillating former Number 1 single Shivers (5).
2022 also saw the year of an extraordinary renaissance for one of Britain's greatest pop stars. Kate Bush reaped the rewards of an intelligently placed sync of her 1985 single Running Up That Hill (6) in the fourth season of Netflix's landmark series Stranger Things. The song resonated with a new generation, enabling it to (finally) reach Number 1 in the UK, 35 years after its initial release, breaking a trio of Official Charts records in the process.
Also earning a place in the 2022 Top 10, we have Glass Animals' TikTok anthem Heat Waves (7), Lost Frequencies and Calum Scott's slow-burning hit Where Are You Now (8), LF SYSTEM's breakout Number 1 Afraid To Feel (9) and Sam Fender's first UK Top 10 single, Seventeen Going Under (10).
The cast of Encanto score two of the Top 40, with their record-breaking Number 1 smash We Don't Talk About Bruno landing at Number 11, and Surface Pressure finishing at Number 39.
More 2022 chart-toppers to make the year-end list include Starlight by Dave (14), abcdefu by Gayle (17), Unholy by Sam Smith & Kim Petras (31), and Forget Me by Lewis Capaldi (40).
2022's fastest-selling singles
As It Was also lays claim to another title this year - that of 2022's biggest first week for a single in the UK. In its opening seven days, As It Was pushed past 94,000 chart units, more than any other track this year.
As for the fastest-seller in its first week based on pure sales, that honour goes to LadBaby's record-breaking Official Christmas Number 1, Food Aid. The charity track totalled over 59,000 first-week copies, becoming the most-downloaded song of the year in the process too.
Breakout hits
Despite releasing her single Go originally in 2020, it was two years later that Cat Burns experienced the most extraordinary breakout year with the track peaking at Number 2 on the Official Singles Chart, and Cat getting nominated for the BRITs Rising Star Award and placing fourth on the BBC's Sound Of...2023 poll.
Dance music was also back in a big way this year, spearheaded by two rising UK acts who scored their first UK Number 1 singles; LF SYSTEM's Afraid To Feel (9) and Eliza Rose & Interplanetary Criminal's B.O.T.A (Baddest Of Them All) (24) rank as two of the greatest successes of the year.
Other major dance releases include Irish duo Belters Only's Make Me Feel Good ft. Jazzy (12), Where Did You Go by Jax Jons ft. MNEK (16), Australian DJ Luude's hit Down Under with Colin Hay (23), and I'm Good (Blue) by David Guetta & Bebe Rexha (25) which spent a week at Number 1, netting Bebe her first chart-topper in the UK.

Congratulations are also in order for Bugzy Malone and TeeDee, who ascend a massive twenty-nine places with Out of Nowhere (9), each claiming their first-ever Top 10 single in the process.
Outside the Top 10, numerous songs start the New Year by reaching new peaks; Lewis Capaldi’s Pointless (15), Tiesto & Tate McRae’s 10:35 which enters the Top 20 for the first time (18) and Lady Gaga’s 2011 Born This Way album track Bloody Mary (22), which takes advantage of a deluge of TikToks using the song to soundtrack fan-edits of the Netflix show Wednesday’s now-iconic dance scene.
Australian singer-songwriter Dean Lewis reaches a re-peak with the emotional How Do I Say Goodbye (23), while viral singles Golden Hour by JVKE (24) and Until I Found You by Stephen Sanchez (28) rise to become career-bests for both artists.
US rapper Lil Uzi Vert achieves his first UK Top 40 entry in nearly three years with Just Wanna Rock (38), Irish singer-songwriter Cian Ducrot’s I’ll Be Waiting (39) cracks the upper echelons of the chart for the first time, his second Top 40 single, and finally, Headie One scores his 12th Top 40 single with 50s (40).

After RAYE's Number 1 triumph last week united the nation, her tour-mate Lewis Capaldi is charging up the chart with new single, Pointless.
Can Lewis Capaldi’s Pointless challenge RAYE for Number 1 in the UK this week? The Scottish singer-songwriter’s new single - which was co-written by Ed Sheeran - is currently charging up towards a new peak of Number 2.
Lewis is currently charging up to head on a UK tour, where he will be supported, funnily enough by RAYE, who is now looking ahead to the launch of her much-awaited debut album, My 21st Century Blues, at the beginning of next month.
From tour buddies to chart rivals...this is one battle you won't want to miss, especially after RAYE's highly-emotional climb to Number 1 week ignited an outpouring of love and support from all corners of social media.
After this long-awaited success, RAYE holds on at the top with Escapism. Ft. 070 Shake, but with less than 2,000 chart units in play between her and Lewis, can she hold on to secure a second week?
Thanks to a new remix featuring BRITs Rising Star and BBC Sound Of…2023 winners FLO, Stormzy’s Hide & Seek begins to scale back up the Top 20. It’s projected to leap four places to Number 14, having peaked at Number 7 last year.
Skrillex, Fred again.. & Flowdan could capture this week’s highest new entry in the UK with their track Rumble. Expected to debut at Number 16 it would be Skrillex’s fourth, Fred’s third and Flowdan’s first Top 40 hit.

Songs with women dominated Q1 in the UK Official Singles charts, appearing in the nine of the top 10 so far:
06 April 2023 By George Griffiths
The Official Top 40 biggest songs of 2023 so far including Miley Cyrus, RAYE, PinkPantheress and more
Miley Cyrus has gotten her Flowers as she claims the biggest song of 2023 so far.
The post-disco banger became Miley's third Official UK Number 1 (and first in a decade) at the start of the year, spending ten consecutive weeks at the top of the Official Singles Chart.
It joins party anthem We Can't Stop and synth-ballad Wrecking Ball as Miley's trio of UK chart-toppers, with both singles reaching Number 1 in 2013, during the chaotic Bangerz era.
Flowers reaches the summit with over 804,000 chart units logged since its release on January 13. It also claims the biggest first week of the year so far (91,000 chart units) as well as the biggest week overall, during its second week at Number 1 (126,000 chart units).
Flowers also enjoys the titles of most-streamed track of 2023 so far in the UK (over 92 million streams and counting) and the most digital downloads (64,000).
Flowers' unprecedented success saw it dominate conversation, radio airwaves and the Official Singles Chart itself. It became the longest-running Number 1 single by a female artist this side of the decade in the process and equalled the epic 10 week runs of Whitney Houston's I Will Always Love You and Celine Dion's My Heart Will Go On. See how Miley Cyrus got her Flowers here.
Not far behind at Number 2 is one of the biggest pop justice stories of 2023, RAYE and her jagged electronic banger Escapism. with 070 Shake. Rising steadily in the closing weeks of 2022, the singular track finally ascended to Number 1 this year, becoming Raye's first-ever chart-topper in the process.
Rounding out the Top 5 we have US R&B auteur SZA with Kill Bill (3), BBC Sound Of...2022 winner PinkPantheress's breakthrough Top 10 hit boy’s a liar (4) and Taylor Swift's former Number 1, the self-referential Anti-Hero (5).
Afrobeats continues its journey to cultural ubiquity this year; two hits from Afrobeats artists have crossed over in a major way in the last few months, leading to Nigerian singer Rema and Cameroonian-American performer Libianca to secure their first UK Top 10 hits.
For Rema, his massive hit Calm Down (7) enjoyed a boost following a remix featuring pop superstar Selena Gomez, while Libianca's People (19) has reigned at Number 1 on the Official Afrobeats Chart for 11 weeks (and counting.)
Both Calm Down and People are still present in the Top 10, and have both peaked at Number 4.
TikTok continues its dominance as the forefront for viral chart hits in the making; Miguel's slinky Sure Thing (6) entered the Top 10 for the first time in 2023, peaking at Number 4, 13 years after its release. Read more in our interview with Miguel here.
Other TikTok hits making an impact in the Official Singles Chart during 2023's first quarter include Sam Smith & Petras's Unholy (9), David Guetta & Bebe Rexha's I'm Good (Blue) (10), both Number 1 hits last year, as well as Meghan Trainor's Made You Look (13), The Weeknd's Die For You (18) and breakthrough hits like Coi Leray's Players (22), Lizzy McAlpine's Ceilings (25) and JVKE's golden hour (35).
Finally, Lewis Capaldi scores two songs in the year-to-date Top 40. Pointless, the Ed Sheeran co-write which became his fourth UK Number 1 single in January is at 17, while previous chart-topper Forget Me is at Number 20.

The top songs of the year so far including Miley Cyrus, RAYE, PinkPantheress and more Miley Cyrus’s Flowers retains its position as the biggest song of 2023 so far, Official Charts can confirm.
The disco-influenced self-love anthem completed a 10-week stay at Number 1 on the Official Singles Chart earlier this year, giving Miley her first UK chart-topper in nearly a decade. Flowers also helped Miley claim the coveted Official Chart Double, when its parent album Endless Summer Vacation debuted at Number 1 during Flowers’ reign.
According to Official Charts Company data, Flowers has racked up a total of 1.2 million UK chart units since its release in January; with over 147 million streams and in excess of 80,000 downloads making it the most-streamed and most-downloaded song of the year so far.
Flowers also claims the biggest week of any track in 2023, pushing a mammoth 126,000 chart units during its second week at Number 1. It went on to become the longest-running Number 1 single by a female artist this side of the decade in the process, equalling the epic 10-week chart-topping runs of Whitney Houston's I Will Always Love You and Rihanna's Umbrella.
Holding steady at second place is RAYE and 070 Shake’s Escapism. The experimental, electronic banger became RAYE’s first ever UK Number 1 single in January, and has so far this year shifted over 850,000 chart units.
Rounding out the Top 5 are SZA with Kill Bill (3), PinkPantheress’s viral anthem boy’s a liar (4) and Taylor Swift’s former chart-topper, Anti-Hero (5).
Brand new in the year-to-date Top 10 is Calvin Harris and Ellie Goulding’s third collaboration, trance banger Miracle (7). Enjoying eight weeks at the top of the Official Singles Chart, Miracle became Calvin’s 11th and Ellie’s fourth Number 1 single. It also helped Ellie enter the Official Charts record books as one of the British female solo artists with the most Number 1 singles ever.
Two massive Afrobeats singles are enjoying a place in the year-to-date Top 10; Rema’s Number 3-peaking Calm Down (6) and Libianca’s People (8), which climbed all the way to Number 2 on the Official Singles Chart and spent 12 weeks at the top of the Official Afrobeats Chart.
TikTok’s influence on the Official Singles Chart continues, with some of 2023’s biggest songs having found new success via the video-sharing platform; for many, years after their initial release. Miguel’s Sure Thing, originally released in 2010 (10), David Guetta and Bebe Rexha’s I’m Good (Blue), which was originally demoed in 2017 (12) and The Weeknd’s 2016 cut Die For You (13) are all among the year’s biggest tracks to date.
Other viral hits still making an impact this year include Meghan Trainor’s Made You Look (17), Lizzy McAlpine’s breakthrough chart entry Ceilings (18) and Coi Leray’s Players (22), which samples Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five’s The Message.
Further down, Ed Sheeran’s former Number 1 single Eyes Closed continues to resonate (23), as does Switch Disco & Ella Henderson’s slow-burning dance smash React (26).
Up-and-coming US singer-songwriter David Kushner scored his first-ever UK Top 10 single earlier this year with haunting ballad Daylight; the track now named one of the biggest breakout hits of the year so far (28). Sure to rise as the year goes on, Dave and Central Cee already make the year’s Top 40 to date with Sprinter (35). The track holds the distinction of acquiring 2023’s biggest first-week sales so far, accumulating 108,000 units during its first week of sale, and boasts the biggest week of streams for a rap song ever in UK Chart history, surpassing Stormzy’s 2019 hit Vossi Bop and Lil Nas X’s Old Town Road to take the title.
Finally, Stephen Sanchez’s Until I Found You rounds off the list at Number 40. Originally blowing up on TikTok, Stephen got a big break recently as he was handpicked by Elton John to perform the track live during his Sunday headline set at Glastonbury.

Sisters were doing it for themselves - and reaping the rewards, research by the BPI and Official Charts shows.
A new report by the BPI and Official Charts reveals that women experienced record-breaking success on the UK charts in 2023. Overall, female artists spent a record-breaking 31 weeks at Number 1 in 2023, the most since the Official Chart's inception in 1952.
This record-breaking success was lead by the ten-week chart-topping stint of Miley Cyrus's Flowers, which was name the Official biggest song of 2023 as a whole by Official Charts, shifting a magnificent 1.7 million chart units last year, including 198 million audio and video streams.
Flowers was a return to true commercial prominence for Miley, her third Number 1 single overall and first in ten years since she secured the dual chart-toppers We Can't Stop and Wrecking Ball in 2013, during her BANGERZ era.
Overall, seven of the 10 of the UK's Official biggest songs of 2023 were by women; with Miley being joined by RAYE ft. 070 Shake's Escapism. (2), Taylor Swift's Anti-Hero (4), Calvin Harris & Ellie Goulding's Miracle (5), SZA's Kill Bill (7), PinkPantheress's boy's a liar (8) and Libianca's People (10).
Sisters were, quite frankly, doing it for themselves in 2023; 9 of 2023's 16 Number 1 singles were by female acts, with a mix of both domestic and international artists.
UK homegrown success stories during this period included Ellie Goulding, who secured her landmark fourth UK Number 1 this year with a feature on Calvin Harris' trance banger Miracle. Dua Lipa also returned with Barbie cut Dance The Night, also her fourth UK chart-topper. Ellie and Dua now rank as some of the British female solo artists with the most UK Number 1 singles of all time, matching the all-time total of Rita Ora and Geri Halliwell. Only Jess Glynne (with 7) and Cheryl (with 5) have more.
2023 was also the year of the breakout Number 1. Two domestic acts in particular shone through, with RAYE's Escapism. opening as the first Number 1 of 2023, and the first of RAYE's career in an emotionally vindicated moment given her new-found status as an independent artist.
At the tail end of summer, Kenya Grace also completed a surprising and totally thrilling ascent to Number 1 with Strangers, becoming only the second female artist ever to write, produce and perform a Number 1 hit entirely solo, after Kate Bush.
International hits by Billie Eilish (What Was I Made For?), Doja Cat (Paint The Town Red), Olivia Rodrigo (vampire) and Taylor Swift (Is It Over Now? (Taylor's Version)) complete this record-breaking haul.
In total, female acts spent a total of 31 weeks at the top of the Official Singles Chart in 2023, 60% of the total year.
In August, we saw a record-breaking week on the Official Singles Chart when the Top 6 was made up entirely of solo women, led by Billie Eilish.
On the final year-end chart, 13 of the Top 20 biggest songs of the year were by female acts; Taylor Swift's Cruel Summer (11), David Guetta & Bebe Rexha's I'm Good (Blue) (13), Olivia Rodrigo's vampire (14), Venbee & Goddard's Messy In Heaven (15), Dua Lipa's Dance The Night (19) and Switch Disco & Ella Henderson's React (20).
In reaction to the news Dr Jo Twist OBE, BPI Chief Executive, said, “Whilst work continues towards achieving full representation for women across the music industry, 2023 has been a brilliant year for women in the Official Charts. There is a more diverse range of recording artists than ever achieving great success with the backing of their labels.
"Women spent more weeks at No.1 on the Official Singles Chart than in any previous year, while seven of the ten biggest tracks were by women. This should be celebrated, but without complacency, and our work in the music industry continues to ensure that this becomes the norm.”

Natasha Bedingfield’s glittering 2004 single Unwritten has also enjoyed a renaissance this year following its use in the rom-com Anyone But You, landing it at Number 16 in the year-to-date Official Singles Chart, while Djo – the musical moniker of Stranger Things star Joe Keery – sees uber-viral End of Beginning land at Number 17.
Ella Henderson’s tenth Top 10 UK single Alibi ft. Rudimental slides in at Number 18, just ahead of Zach Bryan and Kacey Musgraves’ tender country ballad I Remember Everything at Number 22; proving that country is more popular than ever in the UK in 2024. And, with the release of Beyoncé’s COWBOY CARTER and new Country-focused material from the likes of Lana Del Rey, long may it continue!
Rounding out the list are Drake’s Rich Baby Daddy ft. Sexyy Red & SZA (25), rising star Flo Milli’s viral hit Never Lose Me (29), redrum by 21 Savage (33), and Tate McRae’s kinetic exes (34).

The Official biggest tracks of 2024 so far unveiled - including Sabrina Carpenter, Dua Lipa, Shaboozey, Hozier and more!
Noah Kahan’s Stick Season remains the Official biggest single of 2024 so far, as we reach the halfway point of the year, Official Charts can confirm.
Stick Season reigned supreme at the top of the Official Singles Chart for seven consecutive weeks at the beginning of 2024 – and remains the longest-running Number 1 single of the year so far.
The first UK chart-topper from Vermont singer-songwriter Noah, taken from his third studio album of the same name, the song’s title refers to a transitional time in Vermont between autumn and winter.
According to Official Charts Company data, Stick Season has shifted 1.37 million chart units, including 160 million combined audio and video streams in 2024 so far. Originally released in 2022, the song’s lifetime total currently stands at 1.9 million chart units and 218 million streams in the UK.
Coming in at Number 2, we have Teddy Swims’ soulful Lose Control, which is also the most digitally downloaded single of 2024 so far (51,300 downloads), while Benson Boone’s former breakthrough Number 1 Beautiful Things lands at Number 3.
One new entry that is likely to rise further on the list throughout the year is Sabrina Carpenter’s Espresso (4), which spent five weeks at Number 1 before being unseated by Sabrina’s follow-up, Please Please Please. The track has already gathered 763,000 combined chart units including 85.7 million streams since its release in April.
Rounding out the Top 5, we have Hozier’s first UK Number 1 single, Too Sweet, which topped the Official Singles Chart for two weeks.
One of the dominant themes of 2024 so far has been a well-earned renaissance for country music in the UK, and as such we have plenty of country tracks burning up the biggest songs of 2024 so far. Beyoncé’s chart-topping TEXAS HOLD ‘EM leads the pack in the Top 10 (6) while breakthrough smashes Austin by Dasha (13) and Shaboozey’s A Bar Song (Tipsy) (14) earn a spot in the Top 20.
Further down, there are further country-fuelled appearances from Zach Bryan and Kacey Musgraves on I Remember Everything (28) and Post Malone & Morgan Wallen with I Had Some Help (36).
Ariana Grande sinks two entries in the Top 40 with two of the biggest hits from eternal sunshine; the handbag house strut of yes, and? (16) and the Robyn-esque we can’t be friends (wait for your love) (19).
Two tracks from Dua Lipa’s chart-topping third record Radical Optimism are also present; the hypnotic Houdini (22) and Training Season (31) both of which were Top 10 hits on the Official Singles Chart.
Other 2024 single releases to make the year-to-date list include; Artemas’s i like the way you kiss me (15), Taylor Swift’s fortnight ft. Post Malone (17), Michael Marcagi’s Scared To Start (18), and Ella Henderson & Rudimental’s Coolio-sampling Alibi (21).
Rounding out the Top 40, we have Tommy Richman’s Million Dollar Baby (30), Mark Ambor’s Belong Together (32) and Kygo and Ava Max’s Whatever (37), which samples Shakira’s 2001 classic Whenever, Wherever.
