I think I like this more than Dedicated, though nothing has stuck hard for me yet. It took me like 7 listens before Emotion clicked so I do expect this to be part of my summer soundtrack.
I’m more on the fence about Felt This Way and Stay Away both being on it and being back to back. It kind of took me out of the immersion of being in the album by telling me it’s not a cohesive album because there are different results of the same song base - if that makes sense. It’s likely it was done on purpose but I think I’d have preferred if they were split up or if it occurred later in the album.
I love Now I Don’t Hate California After All. It’s such a perfect breezy track!

8. Fake Mona Lisa (9/10) Wait... did she just sing "spotting f***ots"? I cannot unhear this now, thank you.

I wasn’t sure where to put this but I feel like I have to tell someone. Yesterday I listened to Run Away With Me for the first time and I have a few thoughts.
1. I can’t believe I’ve wasted five years of my life not listening to this phenomenal song. 2. I can’t believe this wasn’t a massive commercial success. 3. I can’t believe I didn’t know that this was the song in the seal playing a saxophone vine.

I've been listening to the new Side B since its release in order to have my opinion on it. It certainly doesn't have a coherent sound as her previous releases. Instead, it puts you through lots of different emotional rides.
"This Love Isn't Crazy", "Comeback", "Summer Love" and "This Is What They Say" are my favorite cuts. It's just the classic big pop chorus Carly. A pleasure to listen all the time.
I've been switching sides between "Felt This Way" and "Steal Away". Both are pure pop blisses. I can imagine her having a hard time deciding which one to keep in Dedicated before saving both for Side B.
I also love the warm, nostalgic vibes of "Window" and "Now I Don't Hate California After All".
My least favorites are "Heartbeat" and "Let's Sort the Whole Thing Out". The former would've been better off, imo, as an interlude. The latter has some production choices that are not my cup of tea.

I got mine in the mail yesterday. It's much better than the Emotion Side B that came in that chintzy cardboard sleeve. She treated this one like an actual release, case, full booklet, lyrics, etc.

She treated this one like an actual release, case, full booklet, lyrics, etc. Thank goodness! I feared we would have another cardboard sleeve situation on our hands so it's good to hear it's a regular release. I wish there was a signed CD option though, as I would have went for that.

Omg “Heartbeat”. This VIBE. This PRODUCTION. I feel like it straddles the line between too much and using all the tools to set a slow vibe just right.

Never Get to Hold You is still that bop. SO happy I can finally add it to all of my Spotify Playlists

I already had both of these in physical format, but to have them on streaming is a game changer. Love love love both, but “Never Get To Hold You” is a career highlight

Went back to Dedicated this morning and it's actually a really strong follow-up to E-MO-TION. 'Want You In My Room' is still one of the most wonderful things she has ever done.
I am still of the mindset that Dedicated Side B is a bit shit and doesn't come close to the 1-2 punch that ESB provided her, but at least we got 'Solo' and 'Comeback' out of it? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

k.
Anyway, I would REALLY love an album produced by half Jack and half Dev. They bring out the absolute best in Carly.

Dedicated has always been really, really strong. It just sort of didn’t quite connect because that struggle Carly went through of “OK - where am I going with my music after Emotion?” kind of seeped into its DNA.
That said...
Julien? Soooo good. No Drug Like Me? One of the best songs she’s ever done. Want You In My Room? Guaranteed to make you feel better. Now That I Found You? So so fun. Too Much? Classic Carly. Automatically In Love? BOOOOPPPP Real Love? So transcendent. Feels Right has always been one of my faves.
Also, I happen to love Side B.
This Love Isn’t Crazy is a GEM. Perfect.
I also love Window (underrated). This Is What They Say, Felt This Way, Comeback...
It was a really solid era of music.
I do think Carly’s next album will be really interesting and more set in its DNA and what Carly wants to say, artistically. I’m so here for Carly Rae Covid.

I want her new album next year. She needs a lot of songs to make the album and Side B. 2022 sounds right for it.

Bump. INCREDIBLY quiet on the new music front, which is strange.
