At the show now…opening at DJ started exactly at 830. Doing nothing but these insane mega mixes of Madonna.
Also not a bad seat in the house as the stage is massive and fills almost the entire floor of MSG.

Also time check, show started at 945pm, 15 minutes after Dj finished his set.

Just saw her tonight here in NYC. She puts on a great show. I am not sure whether it was MSG that had state of the art equipment or her every concert is like this. I regret watching clips from her previous shows in other cities, kind of ruined the surprises. I also wish i was around to see her concerts in the 80s, that must've been an amazing experience.
The only negative thing was that it got a little long and boring in parts. Also, I did not like the blatant nepotism on display. Like we get it, you love your kids but you could've sung another hit instead of giving them the spotlight.

I also don't think the bits with her kids took away from anything. The extended part with her daughter Mercy was just because it was her birthday. Normally, she is just there to accompany on the piano during the one song.

But it's not just her I went to Richard Marx's concert and he was shamelessly hawking his three boys as well. Overall it was a great show for me, i wish there were more of her iconic songs.

Couple of observations:
1)Some of the commentary I am seeing about Madonna being old or that she should "hang it up Grandma" are from folks in their 50s and above. Some guy commented on the Vulture article about her being sued is that she is ready for Shady Pines. The guys profile photo is clearly pushing 60. Even my oldest brother makes those comments and he is a 58. So hypocritical to be slagging her off for her age. Nothing about her talent or the merits of the show itself. People complain (especially in the gay community) that as you get older you become invisible, yet there they are contributing to it.
2)A good deal of Madonna's contemporaries from when she started have since self-destructed and / or died. Yet, she persevered, found even more success, and carried on. Yet she is being told to hang it up? My only feeling on all of that is no one is making you go to a Madonna concert. If you don't like her, don't go and keep quiet. I am not particularly fond of Taylor Swift, so I don't go to her show. But I give the gal some credit for doing a 3 hour stadium show every night. I just don't get what the point is of criticizing anyone (famous or not) for doing something that literally has nothing to do with you.
3)Commentary about how she was more fun / hot / danced better etc. during Blond Ambition or Confessions, etc. How is it even remotely a fair comparison to say someone does not look or act the same they did 30 years ago? As a man of a certain age (I just turned 54 this week) I feel fantastic, have amazing energy, and get flirted with a lot..but you know what, I do not want to be 25 or 30 again. My interests are different, my views are different, and life is different. Why the hell should she still act exactly the same as she did back then?

I had a fantastic time at the show Saturday night!! tell us more! It was my first Madonna show and I had heard high praise from friends of mine who went to Montreal's Thursday show so I had high expectations. I also had a high vantage point - good or bad. My seat was literally in the very last section from atop the venue. I was so high I couldn't see the entirety of the stage because the lighting equipment that was hanging even far below where I was. So that was a disappointment even though I kind of expected it knowing the tickets I got weren't going to be great - but despite that, I feel like I still had a unique perspective of more of what was going on than someone on the floor or in one of the lower levels. Still, I could have been halfway down and still had the same view of all of it while also being able to see Madonna's actual movements lol. I *think* she was supposed to be on at 8:30? Not sure if the start time was the show itself (with the DJ opener) or her. The DJ was playing before 8:30 so I thought they were just there to hype the crowd up. Madonna didn't hit the stage until about 9:50. Bob came out first and did the necessary hyping of the Queen and then she did "Nothing Really Matters". I really liked how it introed! My favourite point during the show was probably the "Live To Tell" portion, even though I had to hold back tears during that. I hadn't looked at a setlist of the show beforehand so you can imagine my shock when "Bedtime Story" started! "Like A Prayer" and the lead-in to it was amazing! I thought the parts with her kids was really well done. They're great musicians and I thought it worked well with the show. Also served as (what I thought) a great filler during costume changes. Most performers have a random video or some extension of a song playing but with Madonna, it was seamless. The "Billie Jean/Like A Virgin" mashup was a bit confusing to me though. Not that it wasn't well done but it didn't seem necessary to me since I don't think any of it was live. I don't think there were really any 'slow' points in the show. There was a slower song I wasn't familiar with that I felt could have been filled with one of the many other hits not in the setlist but she did a good mix from across her discography. The only downpoint I'd have is that there wasn't an encore. But she also performed for a bit over 2 hours so that's not a valid complaint. It's just what I've become accustomed to and I don't think big productions like this have been doing encores lately anyway. tl;dr, it was a lot of fun! I can't wait for the concert video so I can actually get a closer look.

There is apparent rumor...which is not denied (nor confirmed) by Nicki / Donna...that they will join Madonna on stage at Madison Square Garden. They will be in NYC doing their own shows on 1/27-1/28. Madonna has one more NYC show on 1/29. When asked about it, they are very careful with their response and don't deny that it could happen. That would be amazing if they did. “I have no right to give any information that is not completely confirmed as of this moment,” Haris very carefully tells the Billboard Pop Shop Podcast with a laugh. “With that said, we take joy wherever we can find it — if it’s on our stage, at Madison Square Garden, wherever the joy is. In [Madonna’s] living room. … The bottom line is, we’re in town. … We may just go grab a coffee together. Who knows?” De Lory adds: “No matter what, we’re just gonna have a great time.” Here is the article in Billboard. Nicki and Donna

My interests are different, my views are different, and life is different. Why the hell should she still act exactly the same as she did back then? The reason I hate Facebook and other social media, because of the Madonna is old coming from mostly old queers. I have this friend on facebook, he'll post everything and when he posts anything negative on Madonna, here come the old while men, she needs to wear diapers, she needs to retire all the while, they look like death. She cannot dance anymore said one, and when you look at his profile, it looks like he can barely even walk. When hung up came out, I was at a bar in Atlanta and hanging out with these people and the song comes on, I am in heaven, one of the guy is like she needs to put some clothes back on. She is old. I go to another bar and the same guy is there, who was the same age as Madonna, dancing without his shirt, and showing off his bicycle in a bag body. The misogynistic comments that come from these old, queer men, is embarrassing and infuriating.

A few weeks ago, I estimated the SPS for Popular around 910k.
Chart Data confirms it's over 1 million now and eligible for Platinum with the RIAA.

The disrespect to legends is just so disgraceful and you are right, it's mostly gay (White) men who seem to be so ageist and I really don't know why. Is it jealousy of anyone who looks great when they get old? I am still so dead at your read on these men. Thank you for this. I needed the laugh! I am excited to see Madonna in April, right before I go to Coachella. I'm glad I was able to make the rescheduled dates because I have never seen her before and I have solid seats - the section off the floor.
